The ugly: I'll keep this as nice as possible. The head sommelier was a condescending jerk. How he made it past RCCL's screening process is beyond me.
Was he the guy with greyish hair and dark rim glasses?
I was on the Eastern leg of your cruise.

Looking at the prices on the cocktail list it doesnt seem like you have to drink 7 or 8 drinks to break even. Say you get an $8 drink pluse 15% gives you $9.20. 7 drinks would be about $65. 6 drinks you woud be even.
My math may be off:D

My first cruise, or sea voyage, was in 1952. The SS Avalon Castle, Union Castle Mailship Company. Southhampton to Cape Town. It took 14 days and only had a port stop in the Canaries. We made the return trip in 1959 on the SS Stirling Castle and then transfered over to Holland America, the SS Ryndam, 27,000 tons, which took us to New York, Hoboken. It was the voyage from hell. We were tourist class, had a cabin with only a sink. Bathrooms/Showers were down the hall. I remember the hallways were all linoleum. When we left Holland, the first two days were not to bad, but then we hit the North Atlantic and we were rocking. The dining room was very empty during the middle point of that voyage. Still loved being out at sea....................;)

Now, that's funny. Unfortunately, the ship would never sail because we would never agree on tips, dress codes, smoking, etc. ;)
At least you dont have to worry about smoking on the balconies...:D

Some times you hold them, sometimes you fold them. Think you should fold this one. -
The ship only goes through the first locks into Gatun Lake and then turns around and goes back through the locks and docks in Colon, Panama. While in Gatun Lake some passengers take excursion from there on a ferry boat all the way through the canal to the pacific and a bus takes you back to the ship in Colon. This is one terrific trip, not to be missed if you do a partial. :)

I've only seen the "contests" done in the Lido pool! There was so much congestion around the pool at those times that I just 'vacated' the area! :( It's just not my thing! Been there, done that! I wasn't really impressed anyway! I just went for (another) brisk walk around the Promenade Deck instead! ;)
Sounds like we need an attitude adjustment hour...

What you do is dont cruise holidays, or easter break or summer vacation and go on HAL for 14 days or more, and you wont find any kids. Problem solved.
