  1. So, This is our first time cruising and flying from Fort Lauderdale....I am a planner and preplan everything. My final item before our 1/26 cruise is whether to purchase the RCCL airport transfer (FLL) or just take a taxi. There are only 2 of us +luggage....We need to be at the airport by 11:00 at the very latest....

Which should we do. Buy the Transfer or hope for a Taxi?

  2. My husband is planning on riding the zipline on Allure - and if he likes it, then possibly also on Labadee (not pre-ordering until he tries it on the ship first)

My husband is a big man. Does anybody know what the weight limit is on Allure? also the weight limit for the zipline in Labadee?

    200? 250? 300?

  3. Yes, they accept Starbucks Cards on Allure...and if your card is registered you earn 'Stars' just like on land. I used mine most days onboard Allure last month.

They have a separate machine at the Starbucks just for running through Starbucks cards, which prints out a separate receipt, listing your purchase having been made at Allure of the Seas in Miami, Florida, and providing an up to date card balance...so yes, it connects via satellite Internet to the Starbucks card payment system.

WOW - This is great to know.. :)

  4. We are sailing on the Allure out of Fll.

    DEBARKATION QUESTION

We booked our flight out of FLL for 12:59...We do not want to do the self service option and have to lug our own suitcases off the ship, unless we have to...Since the airport is so close to the pier, does anybody think we wouldn't be able to go through the regular debarkation and still arrive to the airport by11:00am?

  5. No offense but that sentence doesn't make a lot of sense.

If you enjoy people dressed up, then people not dressed up would in fact affect your enjoyment, no?

Yes, I enjoy seeing the pretty dresses on the women. But if a couple comes in wearing slacks, it does not upset me. To each their own.

Many people on these boards complain about how others are dressed. Not my style...

  6. We booked this hotel for our pre-cruise stay from OTEL.COM (NOT Hotel.com) We had a bunch of issues with this online company, but so far they say we are confirmed for late January. Got the suite for around $150 instead of $300 (VERY PRICEY)

Has anybody stayed here recently? The address is 151 SW 18th Court. IS this near the desirable 17th street hotels, eateries, etc?

What resteraunts are nearby? How is the complimentary Breakfast? Shuttles to pier?

I would love to hear about your experience there?

  7. Yes, the following list is in order from the closest to the SpringHill Suites on Stirling Road and then on into Oakwood Plaza Mall. All of them are easily walkable with the farthest being Red Lobster which is maybe a half mile or less...

Burger King, Chipotle, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Moonlite Diner, Hollywood Ale House, Dave and Buster's, TGI Friday's, Sal's Italian Ristorante, Sweet Tomatoes and Red Lobster.

If you look at La Quinta Inn then this list would go in reverse with Red Lobster being the closest.

I booked for Springhill Suites - FLL Airport 151 SW 18 Court?? Is this the same as STirling Road? The Hotel Website said that Ale House, Dave and Busters were both 1 mile away? About $5 in a cab?

  8. The Quest this past December was an absolute riot. When they asked, "We need your team number and a girl with a piercing not in her ear", a college aged girl goes running up, pulls up her skirt and commences to show a piercing NOT in her belly button...

Then, this same Quest Game, an English couple next to us in our group... LOL. They have never been to Quest and was asking me about it. I told them and they laughed and said, "This could be fun". Yeah, they did most of the participation.

First one was, "We need your team number and a guy wearing women's panties" So what happens? The guys wife strips right next to us. And when I mean strip, she went down to her birthday suit to give her husband the panties she had on. The very next Question was "We need your team number and a woman with 3 bras not being worn. She commences to taking off her shirt and bra to hand to another girl in our group...

All of this in front of their teenage daughter!

Then when it came time for the finale, the husband was quick to volunteer to be the drag queen. All the while his wife is naked as he's wearing her bra and panties. Hahaha

Talk about hands down the best Quest I have been to.

:eek::eek::eek: WOWSA... Naked? Really? I have never heard of this game. Must happen when I am sound asleep...

  9. It is MTD (MY time dining) and you do not need a reservation. You can go at 630. :)

Why are people making reservations for my time dining? Any other cruiseline you just wait in line for a table to be assigned and I have rarely waited for than 5 or 10 minutes. Is RCCL the same? We usually eat as soon the the dining room opens so we can have a leasurly dinner prior to hitting up the evening venues? Will it be hard to get a table at opening (We will be on Allure)

  10. I very much agree. I was on Oasis last year and booked on Allure this Sept.My husband is not a suit/tux kind of guy, he wore nice pants and a nice Tommy Bahama shirt and I a nice sun dress for formal dinners, and it was fine, we never felt out of place, in fact we looked pretty darn good :) People were dressed in all kinds of ways and I really did not care who was wearing what. We were having so much fun, I really didn't care who was wearing what :) You will love it! I promise!! :)

This is great information. I usually wear a dress or black slacks and DH wears Black Dockers and long sleeve dress shirt (this is formal to him) he definately is not a suit guy - Only wears those to funerals. Casual nights he wears Kaki (sp) Dockers and Polo or Tommy Bahama short sleeve shirts. This works for us.

I personally enjoy watching the people who are dressed up - but anybody dressed down does not affect my enjoyment....:p

  11. For the first time in 6 cruises, I did not select a specific cabin. I was able to save $600 by choosing a Guarantee cabin...That being said, I was assigned a Central Park Balcony on Deck 14 (14581) and it appears that it is right under the pool??

It is also on the "KIDS" deck - with all the kids activities, and I fear kids will be rough housing around that set of elevators...Which could put DH on edge...

Had anybody had a bad experience with this location? We are a bit concerned ??

  12. I have been on 5 cruises with Norwegian and Carnival, but will be taking my first cruise on RCCL in a few weeks. I am wondering what the dress code is - and if it is enforced. Both Carnival and Norwegian formal nights we were ok to wear a dress for me - and Dockers and long sleeve dress shirt for DH. Will this work for RCCL? My husband refuses to buy a jacket or wear a tie on vacations? BTW - he looks very nice in that attire :D Will he be required to buy a jacket? Will they turn us away?
