  1. Has anyone sailed on Crown recently who could tell me if they offer Barre (Pure Barre) fitness classes? I usually have to settle for Pilates. Any info would be greatly appreciated. DH and I sail in a few weeks.

  2. DH and I are looking at two Princess itineraries. Our main interest is San Francisco. The time in port is showing 7am -11pm. We definitely want to do Alcatraz. The excursions on the boat are showing a 5 hour tour as all day? Has anyone done a b2b excursion with Alcatraz and Muir Woods. Or can you suggest a private company that would be able to do both? We'd also like to stop for a photo opt with the Golden Gate Bridge.

  3. We used TJ Travel for our 2 days in St Pete this past May. It was just my DH and myself. We had already spent 6 days there and wanted to see some out-of-the-ordinary sights, so we hired a private guide, driver and car. It was splendid! No waiting around for others and c we could spend as much b or as little time at a place as we wanted. Also no rush to hurry up and get back to the group. We could stop anytime for toilets or food. I would think this would be ideal with children. And it was fabulous for the car to get up right in front of wherever we were going and drop us off - no walking from a bus drop-off point. Just before we were getting ready to leave a place, our guide would phone our driver and he'd be right there at the exit and we'd be whisked away. Now it's not the cheapest option, mind you!

No problems at all with our temporary visas. TJ Travel e-mailed them to us before we left, we showed them to Russian immigration as we disembarked the ship and our guide, car and driver were right there waiting for us.

    Hope that helps.

I was looking at the Visa portion. We are traveling under American passports and must have some form of visa. I know when we inquired through NCL they insisted we must book through the boat and be covered under their visa. I thought I read on TJ's website that you can be under their visa. Do you know if that applies to US citizens?

  4. We have a separate tour scheduled in the afternoon. DH is a history buff and wants to do the tunnels in Naples. We want to do Pompeii on our own. We're on the Epic in November. Would we be able to get to Pompeii, spend a few hours there, and get back by 1pm. We should be able to be off the ship by 8am.

  5. Hello! We were on the Allure 2 weeks ago and went to Pompeii. We arrived right when they opened at 9 am and the place was swimming with people. There were tour groups everywhere - most with 20+ people. We went on a small tour of 8 with Lello & Co. and it was worth every penny we spent. Lello is an excellent guide and explained so many things that you would never hear on a larger tour. If you want to go it alone - I can respect that, but I do want to tell you that this tour was one of the best I have been on in several years. Lello knows what happened there - his English is great - and you will learn more in two hours than you thought possible. There is a lot of walking on uneven surfaces so don't wear flip flops. This excursion requires sneakers! Even though we were on a small tour - Pompeii was so crowded with people that it was hard for us to see all the little areas that Lello wanted to take us. September is a very busy time.

Did Lello &Co. pick you up at the port? Also, was just the Pompeii portion about 2 hours? We want to do Pompeii on our own due to scheduling conflicts with the tour we're doing in the afternoon. We will need to be back at the port by 1pm. So we are hoping to head to Pompeii as soon as the ship makes port. We're sailing in November. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

  6. We are doing the Western Mediterranean on Epic. DH and I are trying to decide if we will have time to enjoy the spa with such a port intensive itinerary. Has anyone used the thermal spa? If so, did you feel you got your money's worth? Does anyone know the hours? Thanks in advance.

  7. The Guide to Essential Italy - a great series of lectures from the Smithsonian and The Great Courses - may be a tad ;-) long but well worth looking at.

Be aware, it is 36-lectures of about 30 minutes long.

Is the Guide on their website?
