  1. When booking online you have to chose a time for the first dining night that RCI books for you…can you change this time once onboard?  Second question…when you go to checkout to pay, this language is included…”additional fees may apply to booking changes or cancellations” but no amount listed.  Does this mean that you can’t cancel/rebook if lower price offered?  I wonder is RCI is doing this to discourage this practice (Cancelling/rebooking at lower price)?

Only if you booked refundable air. If you booked non refundable then you are referred to the airline and their cancellation policies.

Thank you for your quick response. One more question...the flights say refundable with fees which is $150...would you still be charged that fee if RCI cancelled the cruise?

My heart goes out to this family, and to the grandfather.  I think he really does believe his story that he picked her up so she could "bang on the class."  I'm sure his brain has shut down when it comes to remembering the real story.

The reality is that she was already AT the glass, when she was standing at his feet!  The photo the family released of her at the hockey game, showed her standing by herself at the glass. While we can't see exactly what she's doing in the cruise ship video, I think it's reasonable to think that she walked over to the glass, so she could bang on it.  So that's what she was probably doing at her grandfather's feet.  There would be no reason for her to ask him to "pick her up so she could bang on the glass."

While the grandfather was to blame for her death, the villain here is their lawyer.  Instead of giving the family time to process what had happened, and look at the evidence, he's filed a very public, very malicious lawsuit before Chloe's body had even been returned to the States.

JsMom2... I thought that as well.. the hockey picture showed her on the ground banging on the glass and she was doing that on the ship... no reason to pick her up especially as the GF had put his upper body out of the window and there was no glass to bang on higher up.

There is a version of the grandfather’s explanation on why he lifted her to “bang on the glass.”  Watch and draw your own conclusions. IMO, an absurd “after story” because the public was asking the same question...why lift her up when she could bang on the glass without being lifted. Google David Bagnaud + Salvatore Anello then select the video that it 7:51 in length.

  4. I too have booked a solo cruise (did not receive solo occupancy rate) several times and added another passenger before the cruise. The only costs added were port fees/taxes. As long as there is lifeboat capacity to add another person you should be able to see and only incur these costs. You said he received a reduced price. That does not matter unless he received a “solo occupancy rate” meaning he paid less than a double occupancy rate. If he paid double the fare for the room, it does not matter that it was a cheaper price than the current price. Example:  say when he booked the price was $1000 pp and, when he booked the room just for himself, he paid $2000 plus port/taxes. He paid the double occupancy rate.

I would call call back and speak to another agent.

Are you sure it all has to be paid with one credit card?  I recall being offered the opportunity to use multiple credit cards in the past, but maybe that function has been removed in one fo the website improvements?

If website doesn’t allow this anymore, you could probably call in and they would allow you to use multiple credit cards.

20 something days out and still says GTY. - Question......is there a possibility that we can get a Royal Up offer? - We would be willing to shell out a few bucks to guarantee a GS ?

    Check out this web link:

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/booked/cruise-room-upgrade

If you cruise is 30 or less out, you can go to this link and put in last name and reservation number to check to see if you cruise is eligible for an upgrade.

  7. I know insurance cost is based on cruise fare...

Is there a link to go to to find out the cost of the insurance?  Some friends are trying to compare prices on RCI vs other insurance coverages. Yes ... I told them third party insurance would be best but they are in the final payment timeline and want the “cancel for any reason” protection from RCI (costs more now with third party because they didn’t insure their trip with a certain times frame). And yes, they could call to find out but they would like a breakdown for future reference for other cruises.

Thanks in in advance for all responses and information.
