Last year we were on the 2018/2019 Spirit Christmas and New year cruise with all inclusive drinks package,150 dollars OBC /120minutes data/ gratuities/1 litre of water per day per person. Cost £2199 per person (2831 US dollars ) cruise only. This year the 2019/2020 cruise only with the same benefits as above is £3079 pp. (3964 US dollars ) Both in the same type of cabin mid ships balcony deck 10
The 2018/2019 11 day cruise was around the Canaries - the 2019/2020 12 day cruise is from Rome visiting Venice, Kotor.
I understand that costs have gone up ………….. but to the tune of £1760 (2265 US dollars) ???? How do the US prices compare?
I know UK customers have the service charge on drinks built in to their package .. but it is still one big difference.

Yes, .….all gone !!

Thanks , 11102 and 11602 are the only two which do not inter connect.
These are the only two available for our chosen sailing.
And yes, I did look at the deck plans and above is a large blank space.
Maybe we will look at another sailing or cruise ship.
Thanks,

Hello,
These are the only mid ship mini suites available on our selected cruise. We do not like inter-connecting cabins.
They are the last two cabins in the mid ships category before the category changes out of mid ships.
Anyone stayed in either of these two cabins - and what is directly above ?
Thanks for any advice.

We live in the UK and have an annual travel insurance policy. When it's time to renew we look at price comparisons but have stayed with our Insurance company. We always renew and are never without insurance cover.
We booked three European holidays this year and each company asked for details of our insurance including policy numbers. Our NCL cruise later this month was booked through a TA who didn't enquire if we had insurance - so probably it is up to the individual to have insurance without prompting from the travel/cruise company.

Thanks, 11100,11102,11602,11534 and 11558 are available .
We have sailed NCL and have had a cabin "sandwiched" between other cabins (deck10 NCL Spirit)
This will be our first time on the Jewel - hence the difficult decision.
-
Thanks, I've looked at deck plans and what is above. So now it's decision time.

Thanks, it is back to the deck plans !!!!
We also want a room that does not connect .
It will be either NCL or RCL.

Thanks, we will be going out from Singapore.

Hi,
Any advice on choosing a mid ships mini suite (MA) - any noise from the deck above - any cabin to avoid ?? Thanks for any advice..
-
It's amazing that someone can fall from the 7th deck , hit the water at speed from a moving ship, tread water for 10 hours and then have their photo taken around a table with the Croatian crew who rescued her- looking absolutely amazing.
-
Thanks, everyone for your advice .
I will look for a cabin further along deck 8.
Best wishes,

A few years ago we cruised on the Brilliance in 8588 - we are now considering the Jewel .
I seem to remember this cabin was quiet noisy with music coming up from the decks below.
Should we consider moving along the hump - are the balconies smaller ?
thanks in advance

We have been on the Spirit for two winter cruises and have never noticed many people smoking.
There is a dedicated smokers room and I think (though I'm not sure) smoking is allowed outside the "pub" .
There's smoking allowed in the casino.
-
Wow - you were lucky to get this cabin at such a late booking date.
It does not connect (only a few on deck 10 have this advantage) - opposite there seems to be a room -something like a small office and next to that an area that has "do not enter" probably electrics.
Good location .Enjoy:)

As always, Keith an informative report on your latest Spirit cruise. I envy you your night in Barcelona - I'm looking out of the window at snow !!!
We are 99% sure we'll book the Christmas/New Year cruise on the Spirit (again) though I had hoped the itinerary would have changed.
From your previous posts it looks like your cruise had some drama and some sadness.
-
How dreadful ,Keith - please keep us posted.

We never drank our bottle as we had the UBP. Our room steward said he could not take it for himself and it would be recycled for the next occupants !!:)
-
Very interesting - NCL should clarify this as there seems to be a discrepancy between dates on the same ship.
We were on the Spirit Christmas and New Year 2017/2018 and were charged as soon as the ship sailed from Malaga until out of Spanish waters - and we had the UBP.
Considering the Spirit for this Christmas.
-
Thank you for making that so clear.
I will book the package and look forward to a very good fillet of beef in Cagneys !!!
Both your replies are much appreciated.

We do not have a UDP as part of our package so I went to the My NCL webpage to price up the cost of 4 UDP .
The cost given to us by our TA was 84 dollars pp for 4 UDP . So .. 168 dollars for two. The exchange rate (we are Brits) is £118.
The NCL webpage prices in ££s and is £147. Do not know why it's more expensive for us.
If we wait and use our 150 dollars OBC on board will the cost be even more ? I know it's not much though NCL have a reputation of squeezing ever last dollar out of us ,on in our case pound !!:)
-
Thanks, Keith - hope you are enjoying the Spirit.
I have a question about the cost of the dining package - I'll post that on a different thread .
-
Hi Keith - there has been so much discussion on this topic.
For research purposes .. have NCL stopped this "tax" across all the bars ?
We will be on the Spirit later this year (with UBP) and wonder if this is "one off" and the charges will be in place for cruises later in the year :(
-
Do other ships cruising the Med. (RCI/ Celebrity/MSC ) apply the " Spanish Tax" ??
Price increase on NCL Spirit
in Norwegian Cruise Line

We like the Spirit , we have cruised Christmas / New Year for the last 3 years and it is convenient to fly from the UK to Europe, Barcelona or Malaga. ( ship's departure and return) .
Probably would have done the same for 2019/2020 but not at these prices (and it will not even be warm weather !!).
It would have been the same deck, midships, same package, one day extra (now 12 days) just a whopping increase in price !!
