Does anyone know if there are any ironing facilities onboard Solstice?
-
You can walk back to the ship in about 30 minutes. Buses run frequently too and are very cheap.

Thanks for the information it's really useful.

This will be our first Celebrity cruise and we sail from Sydney to Singapore. We just wondered how boarding times are allocated and when do you find out what they are?
-
Just wondering if anyone has suggestions on what to do for just maybe 3 hours or so whilst in Airlie beach.
-
I wondered if anyone knows how easy it would be to get from the ship in Brisbane to the koala sanctuary. Also if taxi etc needed how much might they cost and how far away from the port is it? Any advice welcome.

We are on deck 8 middle to front.

Sailing on Solstice from Sydney via Brisbane, cairns, Yorkers knob, Darwin, Bali and Singapore would you choose a port or starboard cabin?
-
Don't know if this answer is too late we did this earlier this month with Antours. What a good company they were. Answering emails beforehand was very quick. The river tubing was great fun there was about 14 people in our group and about 6 guides who walked or tubed alongside. They were on hand if anyone got stuck. Some of the rapids were quite quick but it wasn't dangerous. The trip ended with a complimentary rum punch. I would recommend this trip and also the company.

Having only done European and Caribbean cruises previously I wondered if anyone could tell me if there are local tour operators in the ports offering tours. In Caribbean ports they were everywhere so wondered what these ports may be like? Can anyone give example tour costs.

Our ports are Sydney, Brisbane, gbr and Darwin and I would love to see koala bears somewhere but preferably not a zoo. Any ideas?

we cruised Sydney to Singapore similar time last year and once we left sydney the weather was quite hot and in Singapore very humid. shorts, t-shirts, summer dresses with a light cardigan should be fine for port days. Don't forget sunscreen and insect repellent as well. If you stop at Darwin I can recommend the jumping crocodile tour. enjoy your cruise! :)
Thanks for this will look into it. Any more tips?

Coming from the Uk to have 2 nights in Singapore the 4 nights in Sydney prior to the cruise on 8th October. Can anyone advise on weather and clothes to pack. On the weather websites it looks like it might be 20 degrees in Sydney going up to about 28 in Bali and Singapore so my question is are shorts and teeshirts on port days the choice of clothing? We are away three weeks so need to pack carefully and not waste space. Will we need anything warmer? Thanks for any replies.

I'm just back today from a two week cruise on Britannia in the Caribbean. I read so many bad reviews prior to sailing I honestly thought "well they can't all be wrong" well guess what.... They were! The food was lovely every single night and the buffet was some of the best food I've had in cruise buffets. The bars we used were mainly the glasshouse, the crows nest and the deck bars and they were all great. We had no trouble getting seats anywhere and there were 10 of us. I saw 3 shows in the theatre and thought they were excellent and we went about 15 mins before the start to get seats but could probably of got seats up until show time, although not all together. We rarely encountered problems getting a lift except after lifeboat drill when the whole ship wants them at once. I agree that sun beds were an issue if you weren't up early but I don't think it's any worse than Azura or Ventura were or most hotels even.
Anyway the point was to say we had a great time and did not want to come home so don't be put off by the negative people on here, form your own opinions.

Well I'm back from the Britannia cruise and I now know the answer was Grenada, the last port on this cruise. For anyone who misses this its a shame as everyone we saw seemed to really enjoy themselves. We had A Royal Caribbean ship docked next to us and they were joining in the waving and dancing from their deck. Singing Rule Britannia onboard Britannia brought tears to a few eyes. Such a patriotic Sailaway and I agree with the earlier post maybe we should do more flag waving!

I just got off Britannia today in Barbados and there was a light show on deck.

We booked our first celebrity cruise and less than a month later found out the dress code had changed. We are unhappy as the formal nights are what we look forward to. Not cruised yet so will wait and see but may revert back to RC and P & 0!
-
Thanks for the reply, that's great news. Wasn't sure if any lifeboats may be in the way.
-
Anyone know what 7196 would be like?
-
Has anyone any info on this cabin. Would you be obstructed by lifeboats or anything else? If I already have the cabin number would any upgrades be a possibility or are they just on guarantee cabins?
-
Thanks Brian this is really useful. So we pay £5 each to eat there and if our choices have a small supplement we pay that on top, is this correct? Also what happens about tips for these restaurants?
-
Thanks for the replies we sail on Saturday!

On Azura I remember a part of the buffet area that changed to an Italian in the evening and had a small charge of roughly £5 for a steak cooked on a stone. Does anyone know if there is anything similar on Britannia?
-
We sail on Britannia on sat 30th January and wondered if anyone has done the same cruise could they remember if there is still a Great British Sailaway and if so which port was it from? The reason for asking is we are trying to plan a surprise onboard and thought this would be a great opportunity.
Ironing facilities on Solstice
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted
Sorry but an iron is not that important. It's just that we have a week in Singapore and a week in Sydney prior to the two week cruise. So as you can imagine laundry facilities would be useful after four weeks away. I'm sure I will enjoy celebrity but I didn't enjoy your reply! If people can't actually offer advice then maybe they shouldn't reply.
