Interesting, I didn’t see anything regarding this and now curious. I recently got off the Elation 11/4 then left again on the Magic (currently on) on 11/14 and never had this addressed or else I missed it. I leave once again on the Mardi Gras exactly 2 weeks after getting back this Saturday. I hope I am not surprised.

Will you be on my sailing leaving December 4?!

Do I have any other testing requirements in case I travelled internationally (excluding Canada) within 14 days of the cruise?

Other than the pre-cruise COVID-19 test, no other test will be administered in the cruise terminal unless required as a result of your health screening.

Thank you! I must have missed this on the website.

Also (for anyone curious) I finally got in touch with my PVP - she suggested bringing my negative covid test that lets me back in from Jamaica in addition to my pre-cruise covid results just in case.

  3. Thought I once saw a thread on this but now I can't find it

I'll be on vacation in Jamaica with my mom for Thanksgiving and returning on Nov 29. I turn around and go on a cruise with my dad that Saturday, December 4 (on Mardi Gras - I'm so excited!)

Of course I'll have a Covid test before flying back to the US and another a few days later before I leave for my cruise - but aren't there extra steps before boarding your cruise when you have been out of the country within 14 days of boarding day? Will I have to take another test at the port before boarding?

I was just on the Magic in September and think they asked those questions during online check-in if I'm not mistaken and I figured I'll be flagged and pulled aside at the port but wasn't sure what the procedure might be.

    Thanks everyone!

  4. After doing all the research that I could, I need your help deciding on a cruise.

    Option 1:

6 Day Western Caribbean from Miami on Carnival Horizon

Ports of Call - Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel

    Option 2:

7 Day Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral on Carnival Breeze

Ports of Call - Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk

Price difference is around $250 with Option 2 being the more expensive option...but we also live in Orlando, so it's a quick drive to the port. Both ships look similar from what I can tell, but still having trouble deciding between the two. Ocho Rios has an excursion we would love to do, but I would also love another trip down to St. Thomas. 1 ship leaves a day after the other, so timing isn't an issue. We haven't been on either ships, or sailed on something this new yet 😀 so I feel like we can't go wrong with either choice, just wanted to see WWCCD (What Would Cruise Critic Do).

    Help a girl out, please?!

  5. We will be boarding the Sunshine on 6/14. Need to know a couple of things. (1) We have a balcony room on deck seven will it have a hair dryer, flat screen tv and a mini fridge, (2) It is a five night cruise with the second night having been the sea day, will that night be the formal night ?

Hey there! Just got off a 5 nighter on Sunshine. Yes, the sea day is the formal night (I'm guessing you depart on a Sunday and Monday will be the first day at sea and formal night). Also, my aunt had a cabin on deck 3 and she had a mini fridge. I'm not sure if it was requested due to her breastfeeding and needing somewhere to store the milk, or if it just came with the cabin.

  6. I was on this ship last year, Spring Break March 2014 and then again in May. In March, I had a cabin on deck 1 that was really clean! Then, in May, I had a cabin on deck 6 also and it was so gross. My cabin needed a good dusting and a good wipe down. We had dust all over the tv (which took up a lot of room since it was the "old school" TV with the 'butt'...did they get rid of those in the dry dock?) and all over the vanity. I always bring Clorox wipes, so it was nothing I couldn't handle. Magazines were tattered and torn, but it didn't bother me since I don't read them lol

  7. Just off a cruise on Freedom. Every night there was a very strong message given before the show that under-18 was not allowed. Does this mean that a 16 year old with family will be stopped? No one was at the door checking age. Depending on your family's dynamic, being in the same room for this style of comedy may cause both ends of the age spectrum to be embarrassed and uncomfortable while together. It could be very awkward.

Besides the age warning, there was also a strong warning that even adults might be offended by content. I found the shows quite funny. If there with my son when he was 16 or with my mother while she was alive, I would have felt awkward.

The best way to view this to make your decision is to ask yourself if you would sit in your living room with your 16-year-old and watch a VERY sexually explicit and profanity-laced movie. Because that's what it will be like at the comedy show.

Very good advice. I'm 23 and I was sort of embarrassed and uncomfortable when I went to the comedy show with my parents and grandma. People only really laugh when it is something they can relate to, so when some jokes came up and they were laughing...I was grossed out :o I sat in a different spot with my brother and bf for any and all comedy shows for the reminder of the cruise lol

  8. from what you have read so far what are you going to get nickled and dimed for on NCL that you can get for frr on CCL?

    Bill

I've been looking around the NCL Message Boards. I know food is subjective, but I've seen a couple of comments that the food in the MDR tastes worse to make people pay for the specialty dining. Not saying I'm believe it, but that's on heck of a plan lol and the entertainment option also. But from everyone's responses, it seems like they only charge you for certain seating? With Carnival, I know what to expect with the MDR and I know to get to the venue early for comedy shows if I want a good seat.

I know these are two odd ships to compare, but they fit into the week I plan to go. Just looking for a quick vacation to take before I start my new job.

  9. The difference is huge. I'm leaning to the thought of "if someone offered for me to take a cruise for free, which of the two would I chose?" and of course from what I see so far, it would be Epic! But I really hate being nickeled and dimed for something I can get free on Carnival you know?

Please let me know their thoughts on the Freestyle cruising! I'm trying to grasp the concept of no arranged dining times and dining rooms lol

    Thanks!

  10. Trying to compare the differences between Carnival and NCL, more specifically, the differences between Carnival Paradise and NCL's Epic.

I've only sailed with Carnival, so I know how it works, but I'm reading that NCL nickles and dimes you for food and entertainment options? Can anyone attest to that? Is this a ship for young adults (me and the bf are going and we are in our early 20's). We like to chill during the day, but we do like to go to the nightclubs or at least smoke a cigar (him) and have a glass of wine (me).

    I have my basics down:

5 Day on Paradise versus 7 on Epic

Epic seems to blow Paradise out of the water! What a cool ship!

Ports...ehh...been to all the ports that both ships are offering

It's quite the price difference, but if Epic is just that amazing...I'll be willing to pay more!

    Thoughts?

  11. Was on Victory in March and again in May of this year. Ship def does need a refurb.

My March cruise I was in a cabin on the 1st passenger deck, room was clean. In May, I was on the 6th deck and my room was disgusting. It was cleaned everyday, it just needed a good scrub down from top to bottom.

Staff was always pleasant. I'm the kind of person to speak to them first, even if it's just a quick "Hello, good afternoon". I know how hard they work, I won't make them kiss my butt by asking how my day was when I know they really don't care :)

But the pizza was my favorite thing. So good!

  12. I have never seen anyone debarked for a first offence drink buy!

Usually the adult buying or giving the drink to the under-age,er is "Red Carded" and have their own drinking privileges taken away for a specified period which could be the entire cruise or just a few days and that is for a deliberate buy! second and third offence (even from friends to the red carded person) can result in a debark but that also is at the captains discretion!

In the night club if a guy buys or gives a 20 year old woman a drink "if seen" security would tell the woman she is not allowed to drink it and tell the guy the woman is under 21 and not to buy/give her alcoholic drinks and that is it unless they keep doing it against warnings.

You have to understand that ships security think the 21 year old Alcohol rule is unfair as in their country same as most of the western world a 20 year old has already been drinking legally for at least 2 years and many of the British entertainers and other staff are allowed to drink onboard under 21!

And even if they are seen, how would security know said person is under 21? Same people checking I.Ds at the door are rarely the same person walking around. I'm 22 and I really look young, so of course I get carded each and every time I go to the adult night club. But no one comes around a checks when I have a drink in my hand. On my last cruise, seemed like security was more concerned with people not taking drinks on the dance floor than anything else.

  13. As an almost 23 year old cruiser that has been cruising since I was 11....I would say once you hit 18, cruising is a different experience.

The 16 year old will probably busy herself with Club 02 friends. Maybe not IN Club 02, but she should definitely go the first night to meet people. I remember that's when groups/cliques started...lol

When I hit 18 and was too old for Club 02, I was happy to be an adult and to be treated as such. My mom knows I'm responsible, so yes, I went into the adult club and yes I had drinks in port with my family.

I just got off a cruise two weeks ago where most of us were legal, of age Spring Breakers and I can say the 18+ age group should never be bored. I went to the comedy shows (family and adult only), trivia, game-shows they had in the main theater, karaoke, etc. I never had an issue meeting people my age group as an adult on cruises.

I would let the 19 year old try out the adult club...even if it's hanging with you :p

Walkie Talkies can prove to be useless, esp if the channels get mixed in with everyone else's.

Good luck to you and your girls.
