Good morning coolers, JP, great photos🙂
Well, I am thinking about taking a land tour later this spring/early summer. I have not made a
final decision but I am just going a bit nuts here at home (as we all are, I realize that). I am
looking at a Tauck Tour. Not sure if any of you have traveled with them but they get very high
marks and I met a gal one of my cruises who took a land tour with them to Italy and she LOVED it.🙂
This is not going overseas but going on what is called "The Gold Coast"....10 nights in
California from LA/Beverly Hills to Santa Barbara, Monterey and San Francisco. The hotels
they pick are all 5 stars.....and the tours are SMALL....no more than 26 people. Just something
I am thinking about. Looks like it would be really fun!
We took a Taulk tour in 2019 to New Zealand. It was a wonderful trip.We enjoyed it so much that we booked another for 2020.This trip was cancelled. They contacted us 2 weeks prior to them cancelling stating that if we cancelled they would hold half our money in what they call Dreamsavers. We decided to go with their suggestion. because they said they were not cancelling our trip.BA had already cancelled our flights. They now have $7500 of our money. We were about to try and book something for 2022 but were told if we booked and cancelled for any reason at any time our $7500 would be lost plus the $1800 deposit they wanted.I am only telling you this so you will check seriously about the cancellation policy.I cannot fault them on their trips but I find this part of the company unacceptable.

was scheduled for April 5th------May 3rd. I would definitely want to take one.
Hi Davey
We were finally giving SS another try after the Sprit. We would have been on the WHISPER right now going to Ireland,Scotland,Wales for my birthday this wed the 8th.Another trip in April was cancelled, River cruise
We lost our credit which I am very disappointed about hopefully they will do the right thing and reinstate it.Hope to see you again someday.

Not too sure if we are wise but we are on the first 2 voyages from Ft Lauderdale on the S Shadow after her refit
and whilst on board may book the Black Sea Voyage.
If there is any way to cancel this trip I would. We were on the first cruise after the Sprit stretch. My agent kept checking about the work being completed.Assured all was well. Not even close.Mid way thru the trip after numerous complaints SS offered everyone on board a credit toward another trip and apologized.
Just my opinion.

Many thanks for the thoughts guys. Poppy was a rescue dog that we took in at 5 months old. We were privileged to have shared 15 years with the cantankerous but adorable old bugger. She’d had a good life but it was her time. We have lots of happy memories. We also have lots of not so happy memories but none of us are perfect. I Prefer animals with a bit of character.
The drone was a complete waste of time Les. Canadian stops are now a no no since 1st June, I tried to take the Canadian exam but you can’t unless you’re a Canadian national. Foreigners basically now need to take a full pilots license, and every time I tried to use it in Alaska it was blocked by its own software as being in a controlled area. I did ask permission in Haines to do a distant fly around the ship to which I was informed that If I officially asked them then were not allowed to grant permission but they thanked me for letting them know. Further from the harbour I tried to fly but the DJI software refused to play due to proximity to the airport. Having asked the ID checker on the pier who told me the airport was 5 miles away, I tried the option of a DJI override code to do a simple low fly over the truly beautiful town. I Ended up going around in circles, I got the code through but you need to be both connected on the WiFi to the RC to get an override code at the same time that you’re connected to t’internet on WiFi to activate it, physically impossible. There weren’t even any floatplanes around or I wouldn’t have considered it. I’ve got plenty of other footage to wade through though. I only lost 1 of 8 sd cards. I managed some great footage.
Only one i’ve Uploaded so far was of a mother humpback with her calf in Auke Bay, Juneau. That was the only bad weather day and our heli flight to the glacier for the dog sledding was cancelled so we went whale watching instead.
I’m Going to try and write a summary of the cruise tomorrow. 98% of the time it was absolutely amazing. The food, the crew, the ship, the weather and the new cruise friends we made were amazing. A Few things let SS down but not to the point of spoiling our memories, just to the point of wishing they would learn from their mistakes and at least be truthful when they get things wrong.
So sorry about your precious pet.It is so hard to let them go.Glad you had so many years together.

We went 2 years ago with Taulk.Best trip ever. Ours was a land trip so we saw a lot. If you can possibly book a play in Sydney at the Opera house do it.The people in both countries are wonderful.
The zoo in Sydney and also the beaches. It is hard to recommend because not sure where the cruise will stop and what they might have.
