Hello,
I booked my adult son and his girlfriend on a cruise and "gave" it to them at Christmas a few years ago. A few months before the cruise his girlfriend could not go on the cruise. I checked the price of the cruise and it had gone up a lot in price. I contacted Royal Caribbean to let them know that the second passenger would not be going on the cruise however I was not willing to pay more to remove a person from the reservation. They were able to keep the price of the stateroom that I originally paid however they did refund the port charges for 1 person since she was not going. So I actually paid a little less. My son ending up staying in the stateroom by himself and loved it!
So sorry for your loss. I'm happy to hear that you can find peace in cruising solo.

Hello! I am on this sailing as well. I'm curious about what stateroom that I am getting too! Checking emails all the time! There is an active Facebook group for this sailing. It is called Oasis of the Seas Simulated Cruise - August 22, 2021.
Can't wait!!

Hello all!
First of all I do NOT want to start a debate on getting/not getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Royal Caribbean is requiring everyone to be fully vaccinated to board their ships. I am wondering how the cruise lines are going to verify if the vaccine cards provided are legitimate since there is not currently a vaccine passport. Anyone can make or purchase “fake” vaccine cards these days.

I am going on the Oasis in March. Will the Royal IQ app work on the Oasis?? I used it on the Anthem and it was fabulous!

Download the Royal IQ app on your phones. You can call or text each other through that app on the Anthem of the Seas. Works fairly well but you can only use it onboard. Good luck and have a wonderful cruise!

What restaurants are open for lunch on 1st day on the Serenade of the Sea? I'm looking for something other than the windjammer on embarkation day. Thanks for your help!

Yes, the Grandeur is a smaller ship but also has "small ship" feel. The service is fabulous on small ships. You tend to see the same people- staff and passengers. You become "family!" Less bells and whistles but more quaint. I absolutely love the Grandeur! Sailed on her a few times and never a bad experience.

The steak in Devonly Decadence is fabulous and another vote for the candy bar dessert in American Icon!

I was 19 and it was during the big hair era! I watched Love Boat when I was a kid and that sparked my interest for cruises. My first cruise was on the Starship Atlantic which was one of the Big Red Boats. It truly was love at first sight! [emoji16][emoji568][emoji179]

I have used Bounce dryer sheets! Yes it sounds crazy but it works better than Off bug spray IMHO. Just rub exposed skin with a dryer sheet and then keep the dryer sheet in your pocket or shoes. You can line them between your clothes when packing and it keeps them smelling fresh without taking up extra room in your luggage. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

Cruise & travel tips
1.) Invest in hard side luggage to avoid bed bugs. It only takes one infested soft luggage to affect everyone else's luggage on a plane, train, ship etc.
2.) Pill boxes make excellent jewelry holders for traveling.
3.) Buy a cheap (dollar store, walmart) over the door shoe holder with clear pockets. Can hold sunscreen, glasses, hair brush, make up, sprays, hair gel, toothbrush, toothpaste and many other toiletries. Now you can have everything organized on the door and it doesnt take up your drawer and counter space. Works wonders in tiny cruise ship bathrooms!
4.) A travel wallet/organizer keeps all of your important documents together. That way your not constantly digging around for your plane tickets, passports etc.
5.) Bring a travel alarm clock. Cruise staterooms do not have them.
6.) I always travel with Lysol wipes. Airplane/train seats are filthy!
7.) Some Cruise ship stateroom doors are metal and can hold magnets. Just ask anyone that I have cruised with what I put on their door!!
8.) Bring 50% more money and 50% less clothes than you think you need.
9.) Dress for formal nights! It takes just as much effort to put on tux pants as it does to put on jeans. And where else are you going to wear fancy clothes?
10.) Travel with your teddy bear! It makes a great pillow on the plane and also quiets noisy children! (True story!)
11.) Always bring air freshner. Lysol doubles as a disinfectant.
12.) Pack or bring a backpack. It's lightweight and holds a lot. Can be used as a beach bag or a quick carry on if your luggage is over weight.
13.) Get change (small bills) prior to your vacation. You'll be glad you did when you go to a vending machine and when you need to tip the luggage handlers.
14.) Pack medicines, bathing suit and a change of clothes in your carry on.
15.) Two words - Duct tape! Can temporarily fix anything from luggage to hemming a pair of trousers! Makes a great lint "brush" too! My husband wraps duct tape around the travel hairspray bottle so we have some if we need, without packing a big roll of it.
16.) Do not forget your phone/laptop
charger.
17.) The buffet is very crowded on the first day of a cruise. There are other options for dining - do your research prior to boarding!
18.) Make a copy of your passport and e-mail it to yourself. You can access it from any computer or smartphone if it gets lost.
19.) Put a copy of your name, cell phone number and e-mail address INSIDE your luggage, as well as on your luggage tags.
20.) Always pack a "medicine cabinet." Gift shops are not open 24 hours.
21.) Walkie-talkies are a great way to keep in touch with the kids when they want to venture out on their own.
22.) A household extension cord lets you charge a few cell phones and laptops at once. Power strips are bulky and banned from cruise ships.
23.) Gold bond powder is a must if your doing a beach vacation.
24.) Downey Wrinkle Release works wonders! Especially on cruises where travel irons are banned.
25.) Bring water flavor drops (Mio, Kool-Aid etc.) to add to bottled water. Also makes a great drink mixer!
26.) Take photo of your luggage prior to your trip. Comes in handy to identify if your luggage gets misplaced.
27.) Ziplock bags are great for keeping water/sand out of cell phones and other valuables. Larger ones can keep wet bathing suits away from dry clothes.
28.) I always keep a sample size laundry detergent in the inner pocket of my suitcase. Never know when you will need it but you will be glad you won't have to pay a small fortune for laundry soap while traveling. Doesn't take up space either!
29.) Pack belt inside collar of a dress shirt to keep its shape.
30.) Avoid ATM fees on a cruise. Put your room key in a slot machine at the casino. Deposit money on the slot machine and cash out. Money will be deducted from your on board account.
31.) Need free wifi while in port? Follow the crew members! They know where all of the good hot spots are.
32.) Bring a highlighter to mark the great activities in your cruise compass.
33.) I have a cork screw/bottle opener in my toiletry bag. A bottle of wine is no good if you have no way to open it!
34. Large binder clips will keep your razor from harming anything else in your travel bag.
35.) Dryer sheets between clothes keeps them fresh without taking up space.
36.) If you are talking wine bottles (plural of course!), use a blow up arm floaties to protect the glass bottle.
37.) A shower cap can protect your shoes from getting your clothes dirty.
38.) I use contact lens case for my eye cream. No need to bring a big jar along.
39.) Be sure to use a Travel Agent for their expertise cruising knowledge, customer service, same point of contact after booking and to look into special promotions - like me!

Could someone please confirm if Diamond + members have access to the CL? What additional benefits do you get with D+? I have read what is on the C&A website but I have read conflicting information. Just got D+ status and don't want to miss anything! [emoji16]

What a nice thing to do! I hope the person that did that gets your message.
-
Yes that could be. Just thought it was odd that they closed the Medical center after they announced that 4 people were critically ill.
-
I am on the Anthem right now. There was a rumor that there was a fight between passengers and one of them was one of the ones that were critically injured. Again, it's a rumor but I heard that from a few different passengers on board. A crew member confirmed (about 2 hours ago)that there were 4 critical ill passengers and said that the medical center was closed - to both crew and passengers. We knew something was going on in the Medical center. Now we hear that 2 of them died.
And yes, we did run out of lettuce and bananas!!

I noticed that the Anthem of the Seas will be arriving in NJ on November 5th. There is a 12 night sailing on November 10th. Is there a sailing between the 5 - 10th? What will the Anthem be doing then??

We took our kids on a cruise when they were 10 & 12. They had their own room across from ours. We established rules before the cruise such as curfews, not to go in anyone else's stateroom nor to have anyone in their stateroom. We made dinners mandatory - even if they only stayed for appetizers. That way we could meet up then. We had a key to their room so that we could check on them. They are not allowed to get off the ship without parents so you will always know that they are on the ship if you are. I also explained that there are cameras all over the ship and they are being monitored constantly. The kids made friends quickly onboard and most of them hung out together. Safety in numbers! Enjoy your cruise and I know the kids will enjoy their freedom!

I used to be rich but then I discovered cruising. All of my [emoji383] goes toward [emoji568]. Now I am very poor due to my cruising addiction. Feel free to fund my addiction!! [emoji12]
