And if the new Italian chef is still on that was working at the Patio Grill, the pizzas looked fab!

That's a bummer, was hoping it would be used, that's a real shame... :(

Thomas Keller on Seabourn
Having read so much on here about TK I was almost dreading setting foot in the Grill restaurant. If all the posts were to be believed we were in for a night of horror.
The setting is lovely, I'll post up some more photos throughout the cruise but for now a shot of the bar.
Drinks at the bar were lovely and the whole ambience conducive to a pleasant evening. We ended up inviting people we had met previously to join us as they had struggled to get a table - actually they turned up on the wrong night.
I ordered the crab cake. Unfortunately it was so good I forgot to photograph it until it was too late....
For main course we opted for the rack of lamb between two people.
Simply superb accompanied with a selection of vegetables.
In invested 7 of my American dollars in a generous sized glass of Vine Cliff Chardonnay. A wonderful buttery wine and dare I say it good value. So much so that one glass became two.
For desert the chocolate layer cake attracted my attention
It didn't disappoint.
Given my experience with the truly superb TK lobster in the main restaurant the night before I'm going to have to question the somewhat negative way in which Thomas Keller food has been received on here. I'm sure there have teething problems as the project was developed but now here in all its glory with a dedicated restaurant I have nothing but positive words to say. I haven't experienced family dining in the Colonnade yet but am looking forward to.
This forum offers great help and advice but I fear there are times where any change is seen in a dim light and people look too hard for fault. For me Thomas Keller is a great addition to the fleet.
Henry :)
Can you just get a drink at the Bar if you don't have a dinner reservation, thinking it might be an option for The Club as they seem to be struggling a bit with the new setup, and it also looks really nice?

For 'Devils Island', you actually go to Isle Royale rather than Devils Island itself. This was the administration island rather than the prison one. There is a nice walk around it, some interesting buildings and a (from memory) a hotel/cafe.
The island is not big and it doesn't take too long to visit. There are monkeys to be seen and a type of capibarra. Weather was very hot and humid.
Don't know what the ventures tours offer there.
Great, thanks for that! Seeing it says the tour is considered as strenuous and you said it was very hot and humid might just stick to a tender to shore instead where we can bale out quickly if it get a bit too hot and steamy...

Thanks for letting us know, will have a closer look when I get home. For the Devils Island stopover where would the tender normally drop off as wondering what the different areas the Ventures would go to?

I got the same email and it mentioned due Ventures, which are the Zodiac/ RIB tours that Seabourn offer on certain cruises. I had a look yesterday and no additional excursions showing but will be keeping an eye out. I am rather worried that they have brought the departure forward from Manaus by an hour as we have the private speedboat tour booked for 1.30 which is just under 4 hours long but sailing is now 5.00... Maybe we will have to get onboard like the Pilot boat guys do :)

I missed the full view whilst laying in bed gazing out and also whilst sitting in the balcony, and it seems to make it feel smaller than it is, I wouldn't have one again... :(

I thought there would be more choices for the vodka & gin, or is that something separate?

Thanks Roxburgh and DC, it's not showing any Venture excursions so maybe they've decided not to offer it this time around :( I think I will book the private boat trip instead, we are travelling as a group of 6 which works out perfect for the boat capacity. I'll give them a call and ask the question any ways.

We are doing the Manus to FLL trip in March and noticed on previous cruise Seabourn offered a new 'Venture' excursions in addition to the normal excursions. I can't see any mention of these on the available excursions and wondering how previous cruisers went about booking three and when they came available? I guess there is always the chance it won't be offered but thought they sounded really good. I have asked our TA but taking some time to get a reply... As an aside, do you normally book Seabourn shore excursions via your TA or direct with SB?

Have stayed both 9th and 10th PH, deck 9 was 915, very little passing traffic to the bridge. Upside for deck 9 is easy access to sky bar and after a few drinks quick trip to the suite for comfort break :) I would be worried about possible smoke from 925, especially if at anchor or at port...

I thought I read a previous review/ mention that these were used on the Amazon cruise this year, I'm hoping that's the case still as really fancy it as we are doing the Amazon next year

Is there another Seabourn ship in the bay or is that the Silversea ship?
-
That would be cool to get the timing right to coincide with the GP!
-
Excellent, sounds wonderful, thanks for the updates!

Just wondering what other visible work that us passengers would notice has been done whilst Quest was in for dry-dock? Obviously the R2/ TK Grill has been the most obvious, but I believe new carpets and beds as well were mentioned. Has any of the balcony or patio grill furniture been replaced as well as I know they changed the patio grill furniture a wee while ago and it wasn't as comfy as the previous furniture. Just curious :)

Some great offering there, can't wait to try them!

A shame they seemed to have dropped it, was amazing looking up at the stars on a lovely evening watching a movie with the crew bringing around fresh popcorn and drinkies... :(

Good tip, thanks!

A bit random but does Seabourn still do this? Remember this quite a while back but not seen or heard anything about it for quite a while. Thought it was great when we experienced it out in the blue yonder under a limitless sky

It's been a while, but can anyone recall if R2 had such issues when that first opened on-board? R2 is obviously very complex with their menus yet when I have eaten there it has been bang on. I think I am feeling quite luck that we are sailing on Quest for the Manaus-FLL trip yesterday and will have a dedicated TK restaurant in place of R2 leaving the Colonnade to happily go along with it's themed dinners.
anyone on the Quest
