  1. I have sailed RCCL only once and that was in 1995 but we are booked on Radiance to Alaska next summer.  When I tried to download the rccl app it says it is not available on Radiance.  I assume if we can’t get the app the $1.99 a day texting package won’t be available to us?Trying to decide if I need to get us all an internet package while they are cheaper right now during Black Friday. I hate not being able to find each on the ship.

I never get a soda package but decided I would like it with the freestyle machines with lots of diet caffeine free options which I can just serve myself.  But nope Radiance doesn’t have Freestyle machines either. What is wrong with Radiance? Is it just to old?

  2. I have seen some references that say take the ferry 2 hours before your ship leaves and others that say three hours before. I would rather do the 2 hour would that likely get me back 1 hour before we depart? that is what I usually shoot for

  3. I have been to Belize 4 times. It took me 4 times to finally try cave tubing and really enjoyed it more than I was expecting or I would have gone there first lol. The water is super clear, it was fun to walk through the rain forest etc. also had a good time when we just took the water taxi on our own to Caye Caulker.

  4. In 5 cruises from Miami or FLL, I can guarantee that there is NO WAITING AT ALL if you show up within the last hour. Zip through bag check, zip through the counters, zip through the escalators & gangplank and onto the ship and your room is ready. 10 minutes, total, 3 out of 3 times. Winning!

I can't tell you how nice it is to show up at 3pm after the crowds, walk straight on as if you're the Queen of England, and not even the photographers hassle you because they're tired of hassling people at that point. It's fab.

Yeah! Sailing out of Miami on Jan 2 and this is my plan. Is 3pm OK or do we have to be there 2 hours before sail away which is 4. We are spending our day on the beach rather than sit for hours waiting to embark.

  5. I have doing the same thing trying to figure out my odds to pass the time til my cruise. I am 47 days out and I still see 88 balcony a still available that will fit 3 people. (Yes I took the time to count) there are 8 coves left. I would prefer not to have a cove so figure my chances are good. I am frankly a little shocked that there are so many cabins still available. It is all good though. The anticipation is half the fun.

  6. Our pre-cruise hotel is a Marriott right on South Beach. We have never been to Miami before so want to spend most of embarkation morning at the beach. If we show up at the pier at 1:30 pm would you expect we would walk right on? How many zones were there after your zone 13? We want to go as late as possible although I think we have to be there 2 hours ahead of time which would be 2 o'clock. TIA We sail on Jan 2 same ports as you.

What beach did they take you to in St. Martaan? We have rented a car there.

  7. I have cruised with a bunch of teenagers twice. They were senior trips with 5 teens both times. From those experiences the bigger and newer the ship the better. I have cruised both NCL and Carnival recently. With the group you are taking I would do the Escape for sure. I did Western Carribbean with both groups, one on an older NCL ship and one on a newer Carnival ship. There was just not enough for teens to do on the older ship. I don't really believe it was a NCL vs Carnival thing, more the opportunity for things to do on board thing. I have been on neither the Splendor or Escape but that is my two cents, lol.

  8. Do you need an actual card for a gift or is this for your use? I went ahead and had them email the voucher instead of getting an actual card mailed. It worked perfectly fine. I just read the code off to the online TA that I use (because she gives me obc) and she used them to pay off my balance on final payment date. She didn't bat an eye so it seems she does that all the time.

We also had some on the ship with us and were able to apply them to our on board account to pay gratuities.

  9. There is an option to buy lunch. I would do that option next time and just buy asnack of the chips and salsa and buy a drink or two a la carte.

  10. Well you stated Barclay Card All the Way and that is where it got confusing since this thread is about the CARNIVAL Barclay Mastercard. The Carnival Barclay Mastercard does not give the points that you were stating. Big difference.

I didn't know the Carnival card was a Barclay card. Some one else had posted the info about the Barclay card I have so was commenting about that. Should have quoted his post when I commented. Sorry for the confusion. I guess my point was also that no the carnival card is not worth it. You can get bigger bang for you buck with something else. I am pissed about all the lost opportunity I had with the southwest card. Had 150000 points which could have been 300,000 points. Oh well live and learn.

  11. Did you switch to the Carnival Barclay Mastercard because you only get 1 point for every dollar you spend on that except when paying for anything pertaining to Carnival.

Carnival Mastercard does not give double points for everything.

We do noT have a Carnival card. It is a Barclay arrival plus MasterCard. Double points on every purchase. We spend $5000 to 8000 a month on our card which means 10,000 to 16000 points per month. We charge everything and pay it off. The redemption is basically $100 travel credit for every 10,000 points. Can use for any travel purchase so not limited to any certain airline, hotel, cruise line. The best part for us is how much faster we accrue with 2x points on everything. I figure we will easily get 120000 points a year which would only have been 60000 points with southwest's 1x points.

  12. Barclay Card all the way!!

We had a Southwest card for years but switched in January or February to the Barclay Card. Getting double points on everything makes a huge difference in how fast points add up. Southwest was double points on just Southwest purchases similar to what Carnival does. We have enough travel credits since just January that our Breeze cruise for three in a balcony is pretty much free. It would have taken forever to do that with the Carnival or Southwest card.

  13. Cozumel - a beach club. google Paradise beach, Mr Sanchos, Nachi Cochum. Cheap beach day, grab a taxi and go.

Belize- River Tubing for sure - cavetubing.bz, we also took the water taxi to Caye Caulker loved that as well.

Roatan - book a private driver(victor boddon) to take you all around the island for the day - do zip line then spend the afternoon at West Bay beach.

Or little french Key resort - google it.

Hope this gives you a starting point.

  14. What port you going to? I have taken two different groups of five girls twice on a cruise. If stopping in Cozumel take them to paradise beach for the day. It is relatively in expensive and they will love it. is there a reason you said you weren't going to do much in port. I had the girls pony up the $15 fee to use the water activities. I am not sure if Mr Sanchos might have a free side. It would be an option too. We had a girl have a birthday on the trip. Definitely get a birthday girl Tierra she will get a lot of fun attentions! Lol

  15. So.. I was looking at excursions for Amber Cove this morning. We generally DYI but I was trying to figure out which beaches are near by that excursions go to. In doing so I noticed this all inclusive excursion for $49 a person. (Lifestyle VIP Vacation Resort, when looking up the property there is a VIP area and non VIP area it sounds like)

There are two other beach break like excursions that are $39 for just the beach and $49 which includes lunch. I couldn't figure out why someone would pay $49 for just lunch vs the same price for an all inclusive resort? There is limited availability for the Resort excursion so I booked it. ( It is so unlike me) And $49 dollars for all inclusive is a great price and although we aren't huge drinkers it would be nice to have a frozen drink or two.

I can cancel if the reviews are bad so looking forward to what other people have to say. I am thinking the price is lower now because no one has gone yet but that the price will increase? I looked up the resort and it looks nice but it is a timeshare property. If reviews come back that the price is low because you get hounded by time share people the whole time I will probably cancel!! ha

    Anyone else notice this?

  16. My husband is not a sit on the beach all day kind of guy so I always have to plan something active in addition to beach time for me. I have figured out how to walk to the Lind trail from the Cruz Bay dock. I am not sure if it will be possible to get a Taxi from Honeymoon beach to a beach with amenities - ie chairs, food, bathrooms.

Is there a different Hike that a Taxi can drop us off at that would suit us better? I see something about Cinnamon beach trail. Is it possible for us to taxi to Cinnamon beach and then DH could hike some on his own from there.

Our ship is only in port from 8 to 4pm. I wish they stayed unitl 6:00 like we do in St Maarten. Do we even have time to do this? I was thinking we would get the 2:00 pm Ferry back but Host Anne's advice seems to indicate we need the 1 pm Ferry. Now I am second guessing it all espicially if we miss the 9:00 am Red Hook Ferry and then have to leave at 1pm.
