  1. @wallyj  thank you for the response. The pics do not matter, I was really interested in the information you provided about the menus.  Thank you for letting me know that they are still offering the traditional princess favorites. I am hopeful they will be on the menu on the crown in November, as I always like the option of a Caesar salad, or the French onion soup every night.  Wishing you a wonderful time sailing for the remainder of your cruise.

    Thanks,

    Ron

  2. I have sailed several times from pier 27 in San Francisco, but never from pier 35.  Since there are two ships in port the day we are embarking, we are scheduled to load at pier 35.   Would like to know how luggage drop off and passenger drop off work at this pier.  Looking at google maps it does not look like there is a drop off area,  we will probably arrive by Uber and not sure how the drop off works.  It looks like there may be some space out front but not sure if those will be reserved for buses.

Thanks in advance for any info,  wish we were embarking from 27 it is nice and has always been quick boarding

  3. Looking for some advice if anybody has recently sailed from San Franciso and rented a scooter. We will be sailing in October on the Ruby.  Looking at either Scootaround or Specialneedsatsea.   If you have rented from either of these companies lately, I would love to hear your thoughts about them.   Looking at past reviews, they are mainly on Florida cruises, and some were good and others bad.

Would love to hear from anyone that has sailed out of San Francisco this year and rented a scooter,.  if so which company, did you use:   how was the experience,   was it delivered to your cabin,  any problems with it.   This will be the first time we ever rented a scooter. We will be in a mini-suite, how hard was it to get into and out of the cabin.  We will probably rent the standard or transportable model.

Sorry for all the questions.  Appreciate any feedback and help

    Thanks

  4. T&Atravel,  just curious what you thought of the food overall? I’ve read a lot of reviews that the Horizon Court has greatly went downhill, just was curious of your thoughts having been recently on the ship. Hoping you had a great cruise

  5. My apologies if this has already been asked, I did a search and could not find anything.

Looking at staying in cabin E720 on the ruby princess for an upcoming cruise. This is one of the few covered mini suites. Just curious with it being the first one on the Aft end from the front, with what looks like a wall/partition on that side of the balcony.  I am wondering with this sticking out as the first balcony versus having cabins next-door like I am used to being in the center of a row of balconies, if this will create a lot of wind noise in the cabin or a lot of wind on the balcony?  Would be interested in hearing from anyone that has stayed in this cabin on the ruby are equivalent ships, what they thought about this cabin.  If you have stayed in this cabin, When the view blocked lifeboats are other things when looking towards the front of the ship when at the balcony rail.

Thank you everyone for your responses.
    Thanks

    Ron

  6. Just got the notice that the problems will not be fixed before the Nov 20th Panama Canal cruise, looks like they have shortened most of the port times and also switched Colon to Cristobal. Not sure how that will work as I did not think Cruise lines docked at Cristobal anymore. With the two ports being so close seems strange that they would have to switch those two.

Most cruises operate at below max speed, but I am concerned that they will be operating at their revised max speed the whole time to even make these times, which could lead to even more changes or delays after they actually operate the route.

  7. I was wondering if in Hilo if i go pickup a rental car at the airport, can I then come back to the pier to pickup the rest of my group or do they all need to go to the airport with me. If I can pick them back up at Hilo pier, where do you pick up at, Can you drive in like the Hilo hatties and Walmart shuttles inside the controlled area, or do they have to walk all the way out of the port ? I was also wondering if there was any short term parking at the port ?

Thinking I would go to VNP with everyone then comeback and drop some off at the ship while the rest go downtown Hilo and then return the car.

    Thanks in advance for respones

  8. Yes they are very popular balconies on Caribe deck, they are larger (twice) and half covered. :)

There are no noise issues that we have ever experienced in the 600-700 range on Riviera deck.

Am wondering if the balconies on the Ruby Riveria deck like cabins R707 and R709 have a door that can be opened in the partitions ?? In aphot it looks like the might, but then it looks like they dont too, any help would be appreciated if anyone knows if the partitions open on the balconies on the aft sides of the riveria deck.

    Thanks

    Ron

  9. Just did it. Waited less than 10 minutes for the shuttle. Rental was a piece of cake. Done in less than five minutes. No problem.

    Make reservation in advance.

Was wondering did the whole group have to go get the rental car, or are you able to have one person go get the car, and then return to the port to pick up the remining people. Was curious how you did it .

    Thanks

    Ron
