  1. Just wondering if you ordered breakfast room service.

I have heard that there is no charge for continental breakfast but from what you have stated, it looks like you can order anything off the breakfast service menu with no charge? FWIW that should be the way it is for concierge rooms as they do advertise as a perk for choosing this class of stateroom that they have an expanded breakfast menu (my wife and I have had it several times in concierge) and it would be nice if there was no charge for it.

We are going on the Reflection in July and hope the OV cafe continues to have the made to order grill station set up. It is a great option especially on a port heavy Greece itinerary like we are going to be doing! They did not seem to have it going on our recent 5 night cruise on the Solstice.

  2. Hi everyone,

I have been looking for ways to get to the Port of Civitavecchia from Rome hotels.

I understand that Romecabs seems to be a good option (I know it is not the cheapest one) but I also see that some hotels offer transfers to the port as well.

Has anyone done the hotel transfers or is it better to do Rome cabs. I am specifically looking at Hotel Navona which has been recommended by others on the Rome port boards. Has anyone used this service? Just wondering as we are looking to get our trip booked.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions offered.

  3. My wife and I are coming in on Sunday afternoon for one night at the Crowne Plaza and we were wondering about any restaurant recommendations that anyone has for the area near the hotel. We are heading out on the Celebrity Solstice on Monday for a 5 day cruise to Mexico. Can’t wait!

I have been looking at car services from LAX to the hotel. Seems like they are all over $200.00. Cabs or Uber are less but we have to get to LAX it; am I correct on that?

Also, I understand the walk to pier 93 (where I believe our Celebrity ship will be docked) is a fairly easy walk along the waterfront with luggage? Is 15-20 minutes about right for that? I know the hotel has a shuttle service too.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

  4. Our final deposit was due today (April 12). We chose to change our booking to basically the same cruise and itinerary ( a couple of port changes ) until next Summer of 2021. Celebrity waived the change fee so only out $200 until then. Cruise price was basically identical.

  5. Thanks for the input everyone.

I did check my confirmation and it is non-refundable deposit.

I am wondering if they will waive the change fees due to the recent circumstances?

Anyways, for now we will sit and wait until just prior to the final payment deadline to see what we will do. I am sure by then more cruises will be cancelled and maybe we will have a better idea of what to do.

  6. Hi everyone,

I am just trying to figure out what we might consider doing ( like everyone else these days ) regarding a future cruise.

We currently have only a $200 deposit put down on a cruise to the Western Med. in July.

Our final payment date is April 12. I know that one option would be to pay for this cruise and gamble that it gets cancelled and receive FCC (maybe even 125% if they cancel it) through Celebrity's Cruise with Confidence Program.

Just wondering (as it seems likely that these cruises will no doubt be changed/cancelled, or severely altered before too long), Can we simply change this $200 booking to a similar cruise in the Summer of 2021 by calling Celebrity? Not sure if the program offered by Celebrity allows us to do this. At this time there are similar cruises offered to the one we have booked on the Constellation (I see that some different ports have been added/deleted). It would be great to be able to hold on to our money at this time and save it to pay for a future cruise later with only $200 being given to Celebrity for now.

We booked this upcoming cruise at the Future Cruise Shop on the Silhouette during our Christmas cruise (awesome cruise BTW!!) so I am pretty sure it is non-refundable.

As it is we have money tied up in flights and hotels for this Summer and it is such a waiting game to see what we will need to do about getting some form of reimbursement for that if we don't go (of course everything we booked is non-refundable - hopefully it gets cancelled for us!!).

Just wondering if anyone else has a similar issue and has decided to make changes to cruise for next year instead.

Thanks for any advice that is given!

What I'm told by my insurance is that in order to get refunded for my flight the travel advisory for Italy would have to be a level 3, currently it's a 2.  That's on the Canadian website. As long as Celebrity doesn't cancel our sailing I'm planning to go. Cruise is from Rome May 30th.

Are you flying West Jet; didn't think they went to the Mediterranean.

We are actually flying back to Calgary from Venice on Westjet (through Paris). We are flying over to Europe on Westjet through London (4 day stopover) before continuing to Barcelona (Easyjet) for 4 days and then we are supposed to start our cruise. Hope it still happens! Thanks for the info!

I made final payment yesterday for our Apex May 30th sailing from Italy.  If cruise is canceled they havent determined if it will be a refund or FCC.   At that point if I cant cancel my flight with Air Canada i will go through insurance. Don't think hotels in Rome and Barcelona will be an issue.

  9. Still not sure what to do at this time. We have a cruise booked (western med) in July. Not paid for yet (deposit only) but we have flights to and from Europe booked without cancellation insurance (who knew, we never buy it!). Hope if we cancel we can get some reimbursement or future credit (the airlines and third party operators - Expedia for example, should do this voluntarily as this outbreak appears to be unprecedented). I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. Have another month until final payment is due. Hopefully this all blows over by then or we are told what we should we should do. Hate being in this position, you feel helpless!

  10. Hello everyone,

My wife and I are travelling to Naples on the Celebrity Constellation this July and we are thinking of doing a day trip to Capri.

Any suggestions of what we should try to see while we are there? restaurant suggestions for lunch?

We are considering just going ourselves without a shore excursion. Could anyone advise about how often the boats go across to Capri from Naples and the cost?

We have been to Naples before and Pompeii before, so we thought this might be a good way to see this part of Italy.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  11. Thinking of booking this hotel pre cruise in July. Does anyone know if there are laundry facilities either at the hotel or is there a laundry mat nearby. We would like to do some laundry before going on the cruise as we will have been away from home for about a week by that time.

  12. Hi everyone

My wife and I are taking a Western Mediterranean cruise on the Celebrity Constellation that ends in Venice.

We have been to Venice before and are looking to fly out the day we dock.

What is the best (fastest) way to get to the airport, taxi perhaps? Are there plenty of taxis available at the cruise port? Does Celebrity offer transfers to the airport?

I am also  looking at flights back to North America and the best I have seen so far is one that leaves Venice at 11:45 am through Lisbon that arrives in Toronto at night (same day). Is this enough time to get from the ship to the first flight at 11:45? We did a recent cruise with a noon flight out of Fort Lauderdale and looked after our luggage ourselves instead of having the cruiseline store them for us upon disembarking and we made it to our noon flight in plenty of time. Just wondering if the Venice airport is any different.

Any suggestions for transport to the airport would be very helpful. It is just the 2 of us with our luggage.

    Thank You!

  13. Great review! If you are ever looking to combine a trip to Europe with a cruise, Celebrity does an amazing Baltic cruise on the Silhouette. Last Summer my wife and I did a 12 night cruise out of Stockholm and it was fantastic. It included overnights in St. Petersburg and Copenhagen. They appear to have changed the itineraries this year but still an awesome part of Europe to see by cruise ship!

  14. Hi everyone,

My wife and I are going on a Baltic cruise on the Silhouette that starts in Stockholm and ends in Amsterdam. It is a 12 night cruise. I know the Euro is used in Finland, Estonia, Germany, and Netherlands and that Sweden, Russia, Denmark, and Norway have their own currencies. Just wondering what currencies we should be taking with us and how much we should get before we leave. I know I need to get some Euros, and probably some Swedish Krone as we are staying in Stockholm pre-cruise and Amsterdam post-cruise. Just trying to get a sense of how much of these currencies to buy before we leave. I am thinking we will want to buy most things (souvenirs, meals etc.) in these countries with a credit card. Any help with this would be appreciated as we don't want to buy too much currency before we go if we won't really need it.

Thanks for any assistance with this!

  15. We also used SPB in August 2016. They were top notch. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-day tour with them in St Petersburg. We also included the "Tour like a local" night excursion which included much vodka and an hour boat trip through the canals of St Petersburg. We had so much fun! I would highly recommend this add-on. We also toured with them in Stockholm. Saw the Vasa Museum and didn't have to even pay for the tour until St Petersburg. We used a credit card without a problem. Have fun. The Baltic cruise is great.

We are doing both of these tours with SPB tours this July also. Do you get any shopping time with the Tour Like a Local excursion?

  16. My wife and I are going on the Scandinavia and Russia tour in July on the Silhouette. We have booked all of our tours with SPB except the tour to Berlin. I am curious about what others have done about touring Berlin. The obvious options are through the ship or privately. With Berlin being at best a 2.5 hour drive from the port I am wondering if this port might be the one to do a tour by the ship (I know the ships tours are more expensive). I am just wondering what others have done in this port with regards to Berlin tours as the tour to Berlin is a long day (worth it I'm sure!). Just want to make sure we get back to the ship on time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

  17. My wife and I are considering a Baltic cruise next year (July 2017) on the Celebrity Silhouette. We were just wondering if anyone has any hotel recommendations (pre-cruise for 2-3 nights) for Stockholm as that is where the cruise begins (12 nights Stockholm to Amsterdam). We were wondering if there are any hotels nearby the cruise port (within reasonable walking distance) or if we would just have to cab it there on departure day. Where does Celebrity port when it is in Stockholm? I have been doing a bit of reading and it sounds like the sail away is not to be missed! We have been to Europe before and know what hotels are like there from a pricing point of view (we have had good experiences with mid priced hotels in London, Brussels, etc.). Any hotel and sightseeing suggestions would be appreciated as we have not been to Stockholm before. Thanks!
