Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. The land portion of each of our four Alaska trips have been four or five days and in each case, we did the land first then cruised south. At the time of all of these trips, we were still working and had significant time constraints. The first trip, 30+ years ago, was selected by our travel advisor and was independent of the cruise line (the cruise line is long defunct). The last three have been Princess cruise tours. There has been discussion about advance scheduling. Two of our three Princess itineraries were booked essentially when the itineraries were released to assure cabin selection. As another person pointed out, the planning process is fun - enjoy!
  2. Different people have different goals and constraints. Alaska is a very diverse state and there is much more to see beyond the coastal areas. We have visited Alaska four times, each time adding a land portion. In my opinion, some of our best memories are from the land portion, especially Denali National Park.
  3. We have done four Alaska cruise tours between 1991 and 2018 - always spending time in the area of the Princess Denali Lodge. I guess we were just lucky, but we have seen the mountain each time ( always late May/early June). In my opinion, the Tundra Wilderness Tour is an absolute ‘must do’. Even in the pouring rain, it is a great opportunity to see the wildlife. Have a fabulous trip!
