  1. We are 44 days out sailing on September 4th and received my form with QR vide today.  I was shocked but happy to receive it so promptly and much earlier than expected.  So glad not to have last minute worries about receiving the QR code.

  2. Trams in Lisbon are very easy to use and a good guidebook (I use Rick Steves) gives you great walking tours and maps of the public transit system.  We also docked near the 25th of April bridge, which is very close to the Belem area for touring several monuments with great views and the not  to be missed custard tarts.  Trams are fun, cheap and go everywhere in Lisbon.  If you have more time and want to get out of town, Sintra is easy to do on you own via train, which takes about an hour from Lisbon.  Don’t miss the Pena Palace at the top of the hill with beautiful views and a fantasyland interior and exterior.  There is a shuttle bus that you can take from the train station to the Palace to avoid a steep climb.  You can take the shuttle back to the town after touring the palace or walk down.  The tour has another palace to tour and lots of cute shops and restaurants.  Highly recommend Sintra.

Porto is also easy to DIY but if you’ve already booked a ship’s tour that will be fine too.  There is not nearly as much to see as Lisbon unless you are into Port wines, in which case you can spend all your time along the river touring the port wineries and warehouses as well as the cute river district.  A few blocks up from the river is the magnificent City Hall building, which you can only access via guided tour but well worth seeing.  We loved Porto and Lisbon—enjoy!

So far everything is great!  Incredible how nearly the same everything is compared to pre pandemic.  The flight from Newark to Athens was not fun wearing a mask.  I don't have plans to wear a mask on board, but Seabourn does provide some nice labeled masks.  As you can see the room when we first entered is the same with the champagne and later canapes from the host that cleans the room.  Was also nice to see the Herald.  The main differences so far are the crew is fully masked and you do lose some of the personality from the wonderful crew due to the masks.  The lifeboat safety training is actually easier as you watch a required video in your room and then visit the muster station where a person describes the process quickly and they scan your card.  The other difference is the change over in crew as we don't recognize too many yet.  Another effect from 16 months of being shutdown.  I did see Amra in Seabourn square and she has always been a favorite for us.  We went to the Colonnade for a quick bite and it looked very much the same.  Maybe a bit more serving from behind the buffet, but looked the same to me.

Thanks for sharing details and pictures.  Those of us cruising later really appreciate you taking time to post and sharing information.  The pictures are great!

We found a private guide well worth it, we saw all the major sites and then some,  we really enjoyed the underground cisterns.   We used Lail Kosygin and she was excellent.  But things may have changed with the guides in the last few years.  In Kusadasi,  We last used Levant Solmaz.

Thanks, we are fortunate to be on a private tour of Ephesus with Levant Solmaz.  Will try to contact Lail Kosygin.  If you happen to have her contact information, I would appreciate having that.  I do want to maximize my time in  Istanbul  and I think private guides are a big help with that and enrich the experience too.

  5. We will be in Istanbul in May 2022 for the first time on a Princess cruise and am debating whether to hire a private guide to tour us around the major sites.  We are in port 9-6, so have a full day and want to see all the major sites. Do you recommend a guide or DIY?  Does anyone have a recommendation for a great guide for Istanbul?

Yes, we had a lovely seafood lunch but I have searched through all my photos and didn't keep the name. I do remember it took us awhile to find a place open because many  lunch places opened later in the day around1.30-2pm so we walked probably 2km one way. Now with Covid issues I am not sure what would still be open.

Thanks for looking for me and no worries.  We'll just do some wandering until we find a restaurant serving seafood--I would think there would be many:)

I don't remember it in Spetses  when we were there in July, 2019.  I don't worry about marina days as I am off exploring so that may have occurred? The beaches are lovely white sand but narrow so I don't think they would be able to host it there. And too busy with locals using the beach.

We also enjoyed the Bouboulina Museum which is dedicated to a strong woman protector of the island  and then had a wonderful fresh seafood lunch.

Did you eat lunch in port?  If so, do you have a recommendation for a good restaurant?  Would love to have seafood for lunch.

    many thanks!

Thank you. I thought I had started a roll call with my message as I could not find one. How did you locate my message? What should I do to get one going? I understand about the refundable aspect and have made sure of that on bookings, thank you.

I started a Roll Call for our September 4 cruise just last week, so please join us.  My daughter and I are on this cruise and would definitely be interested in independent excursions depending on the port.  We usually do private excursions or just do our own thing in ports.  This will be my first Seabourn cruise—my daughter has cruises with them before.

Look forward to sailing with you!

  9. We are sailing on Seabourn September 4-11, 2021, and our last port stop is Spetses, a very small island not far from Hydra.  Seabourn is only offering one excursion in that port--a walking tour--and I am much more interested in sailing or the beaches.  I am having trouble finding out much, if any, information about Spetses and what we might arrange for a private tour.  If you've been to Spetses or have information that might be helpful in helping us decide how to spend our day there, I would really appreciate it. I posted this on the ports of call board, but thought since there will be other Seabourn cruises stopping at this port in July and August, I would see if anyone has any information to share either before you cruise or when you return.

As always, any helpful information or tips will be much appreciated.

First you have to download the Medallion Class app onto your smart phone or device. Once the app is on your device you log in and your cruise(s) appear. You open the Dine My Way section and select (at least try to select) your preferred dining. Traditional fixed early and late seating as previously known is gone. You select your dining time in the app, either same time each day or day by day. Princess customers with loyalty status of Platinum or Elite can select dining when booked. Others have to wait until they make final payment. Anytime dining as previously known is also gone with the exception of Club Class dining for Club Class minis and full suites.

Beyond dining you have to enter all your boarding and health information in the app program. If you were a previous Princess customer then some of your immigration information should have been transferred over from the cruise personlizer to the app. If you do not have a smart phone or device then you have to call Princess and attempt to have them enter the information for you.

All of my personal information transferred over, but my reserved traditional seating on our 2022 Mediterranean cruise did not.  I was able to reserve my preferred dining time every day in the DMW, so we're good to go for next year.  I think the updated app is much easier to use, and I was able to update all my preferences and other information easily.  Thanks for the heads up about the changes, because I haven't looked at the app recently since all our 2021 cruises were cancelled.

No need for a form.  Just send a short e-mail asking for your shareholder credit.  In the e-mail put your booking #, ship, date of sailing, and your names.  Attach a copy (PDF file) of a recent shareholder statement or proxy.  Black out anything that is not relevant like your account number.  E-mail it to Seareservations@seabourn.com and put "Shareholder Credit and your Booking number in the subject line.  I also ask for a response confirming the action (sometimes you get a response and sometimes you do not).

One other thing.  Take a copy of your entire e-mail along on your cruise.  If something does wrong and you do not get the credit you can just take it the Guest Relations Desk at Seabourn Square and they will take care of the issue.

    Hank

Many thanks, Hank.  I appreciate the helpful information.

Just an update in the interest of full disclosure.  We just received a real "human" response from SB saying they had applied our shareholder credit as requested.   So SB did act on our request in a few hours and I guess their robotic response of about 10-14 days is either out of date or a worse case scenario.

Sailing on Seabourn for the first time in September and wondering to whom I should email my recent for shareholder credit.  Do you just send a copy of a monthly report or is there a special form I should send in with the report?

Many thanks for the contact information for Seabourn.  I appreciate as always the prompt response from CC members.

  15. I've been a CCL shareholder for years, but have never cruised on Seabourn.  Is the process and form for requesting OBC on Seabourn the same as the other Carnival lines like Princess.  I usually email my form, but wasn't sure where/how to send it for Seabourn.  Is the onboard credit for a 7 day cruise the same across all lines?  We're getting ready to book a September Mediterranean on Seabourn and am looking forward to the experience.  Any advice on the shareholder OBC will be appreciated.
