Thanks everyone! We tipped him $100 cash. He was excellent and always had a great attitude and fast to to help. We also filled out a comment card. We were on a 7 day cruise to Alaska in a full suite.

We just got back from our Alaska cruise and we saw baby orcas! There were about 10 - 15 of them that popped up next to our ship! It was AMAZING and one of those moments that you can't grab your camera fast enough and just have to live in the moment. My jaw definitely dropped!

Live on Star Princess! Ask away!

What is the appropriate amount to tip our room steward in a full suite that has delivered excellent service?

Hi all, will Princess confiscate power strips? Do they allow any on board? My mom and I set sail to Alaska on the Star Princess in less than 2 weeks! Side note: this is our first Princess cruise!

Looking forward to hearing about your trip! We sail the following week on Star Princess and we're so excited!

I heard that Princess does High Tea on board their ships. We're sailing on the Star in May. Has anyone done High Tea on their cruise before? How was it? Is it included or an additional cost?

Thank you for posting this. We leave on our Alaska cruise on 5/12/19. Can't wait!

Later in the summer, I'd say definitely go to the Gardens, but you're way too early.
It won't be dark until 8:30pm, so I would suggest walking from the pier to the Inner Harbor. It's about a 20 minute walk but halfway there, you come to the Fishermans Wharf which has restaurants, a community of floating homes, and of course fisherman. You can walk the rest of the way or take the little putt-putt ferry to the harbor. The harbor is beautiful ; the Parlaiment Bldgs, Empress Hotel are lovely and get lit up at night. And the harbor is very busy with all kinds of boats and seaplanes. Afterwards, you can walk back or take a cab.
If you look back a few pages, you;ll find the thread called 2019 RESOURCES for Planning your trip to Alaska ..... I included links for Victoria.
Thank you so much! We'll definitely do that!

We're going on an Alaska cruise next month and we dock in Victoria on a Saturday from 7pm - midnight. What should we do? Is it worth it to go to the gardens that late? We had an excursion for a high tea, but the time was at 10pm which is too late in our opinion. Need help and any advice! Thanks 🙂

Hi everyone! My Mom and I are cruising to Alaska next month for the first time! What are your favorite stores and places to get lunch? Thanks!

Hi all! We're sailing on the Star Princess in a suite and were told that we have complimentary access to the Lotus Spa Thermal Suite. Is this just a place to relax or is there more?

I just want to say thank you to everyone that has replied to this thread! I started it awhile back when my Mom and I were in the planning stages of our cruise. Happy to report that we are sailing next month on a 7 day Alaska cruise in a suite! YAY!! This is our first mother/daughter vacation in a really long time and we are so excited!

Thank you everyone! You've all been a big help. I think I will talk with our waiter/Head Waiter and ask what dishes can be modified and have less salt.

I'm a FL girl and traveling to Alaska in May too! So happy I found this thread as I have been wondering what pants to bring. Thanks everyone!

Has anyone ever requested the low salt/low sodium dietary restrictions? If so, how was the food?

Hi all! My mom and I are going on a 7 day cruise to Alaska on the Star Princess. Do any of you have any Alaska/Princess tips and tricks? I've always sailed on Carnival so I don't know what to expect on board the Star Princess. We're going to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Victoria and Vancouver. Any advice is much appreciated!
Thanks everyone! 😊

Hi everyone! We’re sailing to Alaska for the first time and are wondering if it’s really worth it to have a suite? What are the real perks? We’ve never cruised on Princess.

Hi everyone! I’ve never sailed on Princess before and would like to know if we’re allowed to bring wine on board? We’re sailing to Alaska and are in a suite. Are we able to buy wine while at port and bring it back on the ship with us to drink? What would you all recommend? We don’t want to do the drink package because we’re not big drinkers, but would love a glass or 2 or 3 😂 at night before dinner.

Does anyone have a Star Princess Patters for an Alaska cruise? This is our first time sailing on Princess and to Alaska! I would love to see what one looks like. Thanks!

Does anyone have a previous Princess Patters for Alaska? First time sailing on Princess and would like to see one. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm a first time cruiser on Princess and to Alaska. I just saw on the Princess website that they do a Puppies on the Piazza on Alaska cruises. Has anyone ever done this before and do we pay extra for it? I'm so excited about this as they are musher puppies that will one day compete in the Iditorad!
Hot chocolate

I just got off the Star Princess to Alaska and for a small Hot Chocolate it was $1.50 and for large was $3.00.
Pro Tip: Ask them to add chocolate drizzle to your hot chocolate. We were in a full suite so we had Club Class breakfast at Sabatini's every morning and they made the BEST hot chocolate on the ship! The only difference was they added more chocolate. It was divine!
