  1. That is correct. The only ones you can book online is for Nellie's Beach open to everyone. If you are in a suite and want a cabana on Barefoot Beach (exclusive for suite guests). You have to email the concierge tell him what cabana you want and he will respond to let you know if you are confirmed for that cabana. The concierge on the Explorer is Mario Reyes, he is very good about responding. His email address is EX_Concierge@rccl.com be sure to include your room number and cruise reservation number. Here is the map of Barefoot beach the concierge sent me this past October. We had OW7 and loved it!

  2. Here is the Elite evening drink menu but even if your favorite drink isn't on it just ask if it's available. DW likes Tom Collins and had we had no problem getting this during the Capt's Club social hours on our recent Summit cruises. In fact Veejay at the bar would make one up for her as soon as he saw we were in the Michael's club.

    Excellent CHOICES!

  3. It's not just the Elite Perks. The other eXtras, which are available to all pax. are: Real Ice Cream (instead of soft serve) gratis all day/evening, X will Heat Their Pool(s) in winter Caribbean (Liberty OTS refused to do this in Feb. and no one was in the pool except Canadian children; a week later the Constellation heated the pool on second day upon my request), Ice Cold Towels when returning from excursions, Free Bowls of M&M Peanuts (or lesser valued candies) all day and evening, Escargot every night at dinner (or until they run-out) versus RCI's one night only, Glass of Champaign upon boarding, Daily News Paper, A Pitcher Of Ice Water in your room always kept fresh, Two Bottles of Wine allowed to be brought on-board, Special Drink Promotions each day (ie. two for ones or reduced mudslide prices) at a different bar locations (ok, just slightly better than RCI's daily drink special), Dove Chocolates each night on your pillow. I'm sure others can add to the list of things I have missed.

Don't get me wrong, DW and I cruise both X and RCI equally robustly. IMHO RCI ships are more attractive and interesting, X has better itineraries.

SWEET! Thanks for sharing this information.

to email the concierge, use the 2 letter code for ship(i.e ex for explorer),followed by an underscore then concierge@rccl.com

the underscore is only between the ships two letters and concierge.

    I.e

    ex_concierge@rccl.com

on ships with diamond lounge concierge, add the word diamond in front of concierge

    i.e

    fr_diamondconcierge@rccl.com

on oasis and allure you need a 01 or 02 in the email address since there are 2 concierges on each ship

    i.e

    oa_concierge01@rccl.com

    thanks!!!

  5. Just got back, we cabbed it to Mullet beach and walk to Maho. My In-laws were a bit apprehensive about being the only ones walking with no sidewalks. But once we got to the shopping area we were fine. After 4 planes at Maho, we went to the grocery store and purchased liquer and soda. Liquer was CHEAP! Walked towards the casino and a local bus with PhilipB sign was waiting empty across the road. $2 back to Phillipsburg and $2 more to the pier. Still beats $7 each by cab. We got stuck waiting for the bridge but did managed to enjoy sitting with locals and hearing a different French. Bus dropped us off in front of the pier gate and he was not allowed in.

Mullet beach was a bit crowded. 2 sets of chair vendors along the left(facing water) where the water was more calm. We wanted to just lay our towels down and jump in the water; so we were closer to the middle by the volleyball courts. Tons of white/silver fishes at our feet about 5inches in length. We had Rosie's bbq ribs for snack; very good! and inexpensive.

Great ideas ~ thanks for sharing!!!

  6. I would just follow the road through the area. There may well be a shortcut across the golf course and through the resort, but I'm not personally aware of it.

I've marked my path on this new Google Earth shot.

By the way, after the second jog leaving Mullet Bay Beach, that's the main road around the island. Be careful.
