  1. Park yourself in either one of the garages or surface lots - take a look at the port map on the website to determine which is closest (https://res-1.cloudinary.com/simpleview/image/upload/v1/clients/porteverglades/Port_Facilties_Map_UPDATED_August_5_2016_967fef41-99cb-400e-a99b-a0bbb8b935be.pdf). The only terminal that doesn't have close parking is #29 which seems to be used only when another terminal isn't available. If you need to check which terminal your ship sails from, the ship schedule is posted 7 days in advance and linked to the port's website or you can check directly at https://pevvesseltraffic.broward.org/webx/.

    Wonderful info! Thank you!

  2. I am so frustrated with Carnival right now! I am cruising on the Miracle in 14 days with my 2 daughters (young adults) and my best friend with her 2 young daughters (ages 4 & 6). After 20 years of me begging her to go on a cruise, I finally convinced her to go after bragging about how much fun her girls will have at Camp Carnival, etc. ........

This morning I woke up to a letter from Guest Services advising me that "Camp Carnival will be getting a makeover during the next few weeks. This means that camp area will not be open during your sailing, but the programming will still be in the full FUN force."

SERIOUSLY, RIGHT NOW?!?!?! I am pretty sure this makeover wasn't just decided 2 weeks before cruising! GURRRRR

We had this happen with Camp Carnival on a ship as they changed over to Camp Ocean but they didn't tell us until we were on board. Gave the kids a $5 card to spend in the Arcade & then they still did have all the activities, just had a different spot to hold them at. If I remember correctly, there were still the normal amount of activities & time open.

  3. Golfer1966- Thanks for sharing the info, I learned some too.

I'll check that all out. I'll make sure to pack the binoculars that Carnival gave me one year as a Platinum gift.

Best place to get close up & personal with flamingos is Ardastra Gardens I the Bahamas-got to go there once and see the marching flamingos. After the show one of the young ones kept coming up to us and trying to get a look in our purses lol (must have been a female).

Ardastra is fun for the marching flamingos! Went earlier this year!

  4. That would be great, didn't know they are stopping there now. We went a couple years ago and had to travel into Santo Domingo from La Romana, would love to just dock there.

What would be good to do in Santo Domingo? Just plain sightseeing? Or I think there's an excursion for a beach. It's pretty limited for excursions showing. Thanks!

  5. I am too excited for it being added, I love the Dominican Republic! Amber Cove wasn't my favorite, it was too Americanized to have a good time in the port, but once you left the port, it was a beautiful country with great people and food! Porting in the capitol of the country sounds like an amazing experience! :)

Did you do an excursion for Amber Cove? We're kind of not wanting to do what's right there at the port.

thank you all! It turns out it is a brand new port and our cruise is the first stop there! How exciting! i'm glad we get two stops in the D.R! happy cruising every one!

We are on the same cruise. Have you looked at the excursions that are now posted? Trying to decide.

  6. No experience with that company.

Very good experience with Park n Go and/or Park n Fly. Recommend both. Both provide nice shuttle buses to/from the boarding location for each and all ships at Port Everglades.

Another question. Did you prepay? If so, did you have any problems once getting there to park? Thanks!

  7. No experience with that company.

Thank you! I'll go take a look.

  8. Researching parking options for sailing from Fort Lauderdale/Port Everglades. I see online there is Parkway Parking (FLL Luxury cruise parking I think it's also listed as) & my question is, Does anyone have experience with this? And opinions?

I've looked & know about the actual parking at the port, but looking for suggestions also for other parking options before making a decision. Thanks in advance!

  9. From what I recall, no they don't. The times I stayed there I flew into Miami so used Super Shuttle up. Sorry I can't say any more than that.

I seem to remember they had a complimentary shuttle to the beach though!

I was told they do not have an airport shuttle, but it's close to the airport so an inexpensive taxi fare.

Perfect! Thank you both! I'm just trying to research the hotels, we normally do Hilton hotels. Almost a year out so I can get booked. :D

  10. Stayed at the Hilton several times now. The staff are lovely and the location perfect. I always get a tower water view room and request a high floor port view. I love being able to watch the ships sail in and out.

I also love that right outside the hotel is a water taxi stop. So convenient for getting around.

Shuttle or taxi to the port was super easy on the morning of the cruise.

Thank you! For the Hilton, those are the type rooms I was looking at. Do you know if they by chance offer a shuttle from the airport to the hotel? Not a deciding factor for us, but curious. Thanks!

  11. We were on the Golden Princess round trip out of Seattle 2 weeks ago with our 4 grand daughters. They were very disappointed to find that the JR. chefs at sea was filled when they went to sign up upon getting on the ship. My daughter put the girls on a waiting list and was pleasantly surprised when they offered the program a second time later in the week on the morning that we were sailing to Victoria. The girls definitely enjoyed it. If the program is filled, definitely sign up for the waiting list.

Be forewarned that Princess may change the ages for the kids club once you are on the ship. We had an 8, 10, and 12 year old traveling with us and they were thrilled that they would get to be together in the same group as per Princess policy. When they went to the kids club, my daughter was told that they get so many more children on the Alaska sailings in the summer, that they usually split the group into 2 sections, 7-9 and 10-12 and they are in different areas and do different activities. Needless to say, we had tears. We had to ask to speak to a supervisor and they eventually let the 3 girls stay together. We were lucky we had an understanding supervisor. Princess needs to add that information to their website so that people can plan accordingly.

    Have fun sailing to Alaska!

    Thanks for the info!!!

  12. We just returned with 9 of our Grandchildren from an Alaskan Cruise. They all loved the Kids Clubs (except maybe the teens, not so much). Some activities were: crafts, talent show, pizza party, PJ Party & Movie night, Jr. Chefs @ Sea (you need to sign up ASAP when you get on board) and a Jr. Ranger's Program for Glacier Bay but perhaps they also include Hubbard Glacier as well. Our little ones really enjoyed it and we could hardly pry them away. I'm sure there are many more activities, those are just a few that I can remember.

Where do you sign up for the Jr. Chefs @ Sea? My little two want to do this very much!
