  1. We will be going to Tortola in January cruise and just curious if there is a beach within walking distance of the pier?  And what type of shopping is there? Is it normal cruise pier type shops or is it a local town area you can walk to?

If there is no beach within walking distance, what is the closest one and associated taxi fare. Some of the fares I saw seem a little high, but that may be for areas that are a good ways from the pier.  Thanks in advance for the guidance.

  2. I tried to submit my status match yesterday and today however when I hit submit it spins then returns to the submission screen with my info? Doesn’t give me a confirmation that it was submitted. I hate to keep trying to resubmit. Does anyone know how this is supposed to work? Did you get a “thank you for submitting”?

The fish itself was obviously a cheaper fish. But the dish overall had a lot of great flavors going on that made for a great dish.

I think what Emeril was tasked with doing here was creating low cost items that had great flavors and he knocked it out of the park with this one.

If you are heat adverse, the sausage was spicy. You could eat around it but I think the flavor profile of this dish is dependent on each ingredient bringing something to it.

The carbonara is not new. I'm not a fan of the onions that were added to the dish recently. It was good other than that and came out nice and hot.

I wanted to try the new beef dish but was not confident I'm the quality to give it a try. So far I think next week I'll give it a try. Food's been good so far.

Ha. I was going to ask if the carbonara still had onions!  I hate they added those and won’t get it any more…

I recall at least once the Platinum party was split into at least two parts because we had so many of high status.

Mine is at 4:45 pm today on the Magic. It's in the aft lounge, which means there probably aren't too many of us.

Thank you. If you don’t mind let me know how they go about distributing drinks at the party. Premade, wine only, order freely, etc.  we are on the magic in two weeks so this will be very helpful!!  Thanks again!

I believe they take the promo chips away when you lose.  So if you bet $20 on red and $20 on black, if it lands on red, you should keep your promo chips and get $20 in cashable chips.  You would lose your $20 in black promo chips.  You would keep your cashable chips and never bet them again.

But I have never done this before so I am not sure if they only give you promo chips if you win.

Ok. This is good and should work assuming they allow you to continue to bet the promo chip as well. Thanks!

you'd continue to bet with that promo chip until you lost it.  you can take all of your winnings though, as those are awarded in normal non-promo chips

Thank you. As long as you retain the promo chip with a win then this should work. I know at our local casinos where it is true promo chip they will take that promo chip with a win so that was why I was asking. Thanks!

Yes.  Which is why I wouldn't put all of my chips one one roll.  If you break it down to $50 a roll, you hedge that bet.  Still nothing is guaranteed but I would rather take home most of the loot than leave it all on the ship.

I just posted similar question on another thread...thinking the same thing in terms of hedging the bet...but if they give you the "loot" in promo chips, do they take the promo chip away when you win? If so, say you bet $20 on red and $20 on black, you would when $20, but they would take both promo chips therefore you would be down $20 overall? Am I thinking correctly? If you get to continue to "push" your original promo chip then you would essentially be even - assuming you didn't land on green...

They can be used in both, but you have to specify.

Speak to whoever is in the casino cashier cage.

For table games they give you promo chips.

For slots, they load the amount to your bracelet.

    The cashier will explain everything.

When you say "promo" chips, would these be the types that if you placed a bet and won that they would "rake" the promo chip and leave you with the winning bet? Or would you continue to hold that promo chip for further bets?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the return on my sailor loot that I do not intend to "spend" on onboard activities.  So, my thought was to place bets on both red/black (knowing the chance of green hitting), and assuming it hit red or black then I would "net" the bet. This is assuming that I retain the original promo...If they rake the promo chip then I would be down my single bet each time.  Hopefully I'm thinking of this correctly and I may be over thinking it!! So any clarity that could be provided is appreciated...

  9. Hello all,

Seasoned Carnival/NCL cruisers but wife and I planning to branch out and try Virgin next year and I was hoping that the experts could help me better understand a few things concerning Virgin. I've search boards a little bit but want to get some clarifications if possible. I am planning to book this weekend to get the Labor Day deal, but want to get some answers before pulling the trigger so I don't miss out on anything else that I may could get (discounts/perks/etc.)

    1. Travel Agents - I have always booked on my own, however it seems like there could be some perks/advantages for booking VV through a TA.  Can you provide some of the expected perks to possibly receive?  Also, any recommendations in regards to a seasoned VV TA I could utilize to get best perks? Would want to connect with them this weekend to get booked under Labor Day deal with the drinks credit.

    2. I saw some reference to a 10% pay in full discount.  Does this come up when you go through the full booking? I haven't done the booking yet so wasn't sure how/when it presented itself.  I assume can get same discount when booking through TA?

    3. Match Program - Ok. My wife will be Platinum when we go on our next Carnival cruise in December.  If I understand correctly, I can book my VV cruise for next year now, and whenever she reaches platinum I then can submit info for the VV match program for DBE? Can someone confirm I am supposed to do this "after" the booking with VV but prior to the sailing? I don't have to prove it before booking? Just want to make sure on that...

Also, I won't be platinum on Carnival yet so can't match. I will be platinum on Carnival soon (but not before the VV cruise), so am I essentially forfeiting my opportunity to become DBE with match program?  Since I will sail once with VV before being platinum?  Or can you come back later an do a match?

If that is the case, then we would get the $600 for drinks and she would get the extra $100?

    4. Social Inside Cabins - are these able to convert to King beds? or all twins?

    5. Boarding Times - we are planning to sail out of San Juan and it says sail away is 8 pm?  What time does boarding typically begin and what is latest boarding times?  We have flight option to land at 12:30 but want to make sure that is enough time to get from airport to terminal?

    6. Restaurants/Shows - Looks like all of this is done through the app in advance? Like 45 days I think.  Are ALL restaurants included or are some an upcharge?

    7. Future Cruise Credits - I think I read that you can purchase these on the cruise for other cruises, but more importantly are these transferable? I thought I saw a post that alluded to this and maybe even a TA was able to get one for someone...Just wondering if this was something that could save a little more money off the cruise? May not be able to do it and may not be worth it.  Where/who would be able to find these?

    8. Any other tips for a first timer?  I appreciate any other advice that can be provided as I want to get the cruise booked this weekend but maximize the perks/savings appropriately.

Thanks in advance for all of the help. I know this community is so helpful on the other lines boards I have been on and am sure there is same support here.  Looking forward to learning more about VV!!

We just got off the Miracle a week ago. The casino was giving cash for their free slot play casino offers. Most ships it's loaded onto your card. Also, if you're platinum tier, don't forget to go to the casino cashier and get your $25 in cash as part of your perks.

How do you know if you get $25 from the casino?  My wife is booked on a casino rate and will be platinum this upcoming trip. But I don’t see anywhere that says that you get this benefit as platinum?  Please advise. Thanks
