I'm 38 and my wife is 28. We love cruising and are beginning to plan a Med cruise for 2018. I know these are more port intensive, so regardless of the ship/line night-life isn't what it is on, say, a Caribbean sailing, but we still like to have fun with folks around our age bracket. She's concerned that we'll be the youngest on a Viking ship and will feel "out of place". Thoughts?
My wife and I did the Med cruise in October and we are both in our 40's and we were some of the youngest on the cruise. Like it was mentioned, age is just a number and we had a great time. There isn't a casino or the typical cruise ship games but you are in port almost every day and just want to relax at night.

The Wifi in the rooms got iffy sometimes but in the public areas I had no issues at all.
I too was on the Oct. 16th sailing and had a great time. The band in TorsHavan was amazing

I was enjoying the review and it stopped...hope you can continue

Due to a medical issue it helps to have a glass of milk prior to going to bed. Besides ordering room service is there another way to get a glass of milk late at night? Would it be possible to ask my cabin steward to put a glass in the fridge every night when he turns the bed down?
Any advice would be great.

First thing I do when I get on the ship is the Happy Dance that I'm on vacation

I recently called Princess and purchased $5000 in casino credit for an October cruise and I do this so I don't have to carry the cash with me (my goal is to carry that plus more home) and was told that it was strictly for the casino and not onboard credit. I'm fine with that as I'm a gambler and when I asked if I can cash in the chips for cash I was told of course. So yes, you can get casino credit, go to the tables ask for chips and then go to the cage and cash them in for cash.
-
I don't know how much you play but I also play tables and always "gift" myself casino credit so I don't have to bring cash with me. I am on a 12 night trip next month and just "gifted" myself $5000 in casino credit.

Take the matress off the bed and put it on the balcony...to sleep under the stars of course.

I will be going on a Mediterranean cruise over the summer. I know we are able to get cash from our onboard account in the casino without a fee. Does this have to be in the same currency your account is in (for example USD) or can it be in another currency (i.e. EUR)?
Thanks for the help!
I believe the currency will be in whatever the currency of the ship is. I was in Australia on the Sun in November and it was the first cruise (in almost 30 cruises) the ship currency was not USD but it was the Australian Dollar. I had pre-purchased $4,000 in casino credit and it was converted into AUD.

I'm from the USA but will be cruising on the Sun Princess out of Sydney on November 11, 2013

Thanks for the nice words, cruisers. This is Dave - I am on vacation through June 11th when I will return to Golden and work the Alaska cruises until the end of the Alaska season. I'll take another break in late September and return to the Hawai'i cruises the day before Thanksgiving - it's be the first time in 5 years that I won't be there for the start-up of Hawai'i! But I will be on for Christmas & New Year 2012, and am planning some great things for the season & the holidays!
Dave - we just got off the Golden yesterday and the Hawaii cruise was not the same without you. Eula was WONDERFUL as always but the CD was no where close to as good as you.
We enjoyed our vacation and hope you are enjoying yours

We sailed with Dave on the Golden to Hawaii 2 years ago and he was the greatest. We are bummed he won't be the CD when we get on the Golden next week:(

Hi Mike and Tracy
I commented a few times on your B2B's and really enjoy your reviews. Mike, I think you should get a job with the cruise line and your job is to just review the trips.
Good luck to Tracy in her new adventures
-
I love to collect $100 chips (since most ships do not have $500 chips) from the casino and return them at the end of the cruise for $100 bills. :D
-
Mike - you really amaze me. Not only did you take all the time to write the review, you give a thanks to everyone that posts on the thread. The review has ended but the thread lives on.
-
I got a great idea. You and Tracy go and work for the cruise line and your job is to write reviews and take pictures. You would be AMAZING at your job. :D
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, say it's not over. Mike, what are we going to do without your review. I feel like I'm now apart of your family after having been reading this.

Mike,
I really enjoyed your vow renewal and pictures....such a beautiful family. These are memories you and your family will cherish for years and years to come.
You have such a fan base here it's going to be hard once you're finished your review. I vote that you start up your own forum and I believe others will agree with me. We do not want your review to end and we would love to follow you with Tracy's journey in becoming a Mountie.
I took it upon myself to copy and paste what you need to do to have your own forum. Please consider this and thanks for a great review!
So, you've been hanging out on Cruise Critic for a very long time, right?
And you've made lots and lots of friends -- maybe you've even cruised with them a number of times?
Are you currently chatting with them all in an OLD ROLL CALL THREAD?
Do you all hang out in one spot on Floataway Lounge? Have you found a group of people who LOVE cruising and are like you in so many other ways as well? Are you all from Pennsylvania or Ohio? Do you all like cheese?
Is it becoming VERY hard to follow conversations because your thread is huge, and many people are talking about different things often at the same time?
Then, a "Friends of Cruise Critic Forum" might be just the solution!
Who is Eligible for a Friends of Cruise Critic Forum?
Any non-commercial group of Cruise Critic friends may request a forum of their own. (Please no group cruises booked through any agency).
How Do I Request a Special Forum?
Simply send an email to LauraS at community@cruisecritic.com. Please have one person per group write at the onset; this person will become the contact for the group.
Do Posts in Friends Of Forums count towards Total Post Counts?
Yes, they do! (Unlike posts in Floataway Lounge).
What Happens to Our Existing Thread in Floataway Lounge or the ROLL CALL forum
We'll be happy to move your existing thread to the new forum. an added benefit is that posts from Floataway will be added to everyone's existing post count.
Are Friends of Forums visible to Non-Members?
No, the post subjects and content is only visible to registered Cruise Critic members.
Anything else we need to know?
Since Cruise Critic is all about friendships and inclusion, all "Friends of" forums should be open to all Cruise Critic members. Cruise Critic's Community Guidelines will apply, with the exception of "off - topic" discussions, of course.
I agree he needs to start a forum

Mike & Tracy
Thank you for the wonderful review and letting us CC enjoy it. The only bad thing is that you only have 1 cruise left to go through and then what are we all supposed to do??? :D
Everytime I logon to the computer the first thing I do is come to CC to see if you have added anything. I think many of us are going to feel like our favorite TV show ended and we won't know what to do.
Again, thank you and congrats on the renewal.

Carnival Pride, Jan 2th, 2011, see you there. :D
I think the phone lines at Carnival just got busy and they are wondering why everyone is all of a sudden booking this cruise.
It will be called the Mike and Tracy fan club cruise :D

I now have to leave work for an hour drive home. I hope there are more pics and details when I get home.
