  1. The elevators were not exclusive to just YC.  When anyone walks up to the elevator and selects their floor, if that one YC car is not being used by YC guests, it will be used for other guests. If a YC guest then calls the elevator, it will come to the floor the YC guest is on regardless of who was in the elevator currently.  You could tell the people in the elevator already were confused/surprised at what was going on.

A good idea but I don't think it was implemented as well as it should be.  They should either designate the elevator for just YC (which would not fully utilize it if there are not alot of YC guests using it) or somehow let the current occupants know what is going on (but that could be prolematic as well).

  2. We just got off the Seaview on December 6, 2018 and we had crepes, ice cream, chocolate martini's and did not once have to pay or get told there was a charge.  We were told by the waiters and bartenders that YC get pretty much everything free unless it had 2 *'s beside the price.

  3. The express is only on the elevators marked as "Yacht Club".  It really does freak the other people out if they are already in the elevator.  It came to our floor and the doors opened and they people were surprised that they were not on the floor they picked.  We got in and the elevator when to the floor we picked, the others got off on that floor with us as they thought there was something wrong with the elevator.

  4. For us just getting off the Seaview on December 6, 2018 and staying in the Yacht Club, we did not have to pay for any drinks, nor crepes, nor Venchi  (shakes, chocolate martinis, etc.).  The staff told us the YC gave us everything, except super premium alcohol.  We were able to have Grey Goose Vodka, Belevedere Vodka, Tanqueray Ten Gin or pretty much anything that was not super premium anywhere on the ship.

Perhaps the Seaview  just had not implemented the new "rules" or packages yet but of us it was really not a problem getting anything anywhere.  We could have any drink on the "Smokey" cocktail bar menu without charge.  We could also get doubles or custom drink combinations without charge as well.

I think this just points to MSC not communicating/implementing this very well across to the passengers and the staff on the ships themselves.

Maybe as these packages become mainstream and mature this will get figured out.

We were told by most of the bartenders all over the ship that the YC passengers pretty much get anything they want on the ship (ice cream, shakes, crepes, chocolate martinis, etc.) as long as they are not super premium priced which in our case was anything that had 2 stars beside the price.

    Hope that helps.

  5. We are doing a 29 day MSC Splendida in the Yacht Club in March of 2019 and hope it will be much better than our Seaview Experience.  Most people we had talked to said the Splendida yacht club experience is much better service wise than the we found on the Seaview.

    I guess we will see.

  6. The trip was great but the YC was lacking in both the restaurant and service. Hopefully this was just a learning experience for MSC and they get it fixed.  It is hard when you work all year to pay for a vacation and spend the extra money for the YC and the company can't deliver on what was promised.

The ship was beautiful it was just the service and food in the YC that was not up to expectations.

  7. We just got off the SeaView a few days ago.  They bring you bottled water as soon as you finish it, we did not even ask to ask, they just brought it.  In the bars and dining room it was Nestle bottled water either still or sparkling.  In the Yacht Club it was bottled Mineral water Still or Sparkling from Italy but was not Nestle.

  8. We just got off the Seaview (Thursday December 6, 2018) after an 18 day transatlantic cruise.  Although the ship is beautiful and well kept, the YC left alot to be desired.  The service was not great and the food in the YC restaurant was not what a YC experience should be. One night  the Dinner was three shrimp in a tomato sauce with rice and french fries.  Yes just like that.  Could not believe it.  It seems that with such a new ship, they are still trying to work out the process for staffing.  When the YC bar was busy just before dinner, all the butlers (yes butlers) are making up rooms so there was 1 butler serving everyone in the lounge.  At other times there would be 6 butlers standing in the lounge and no on in it.

We had dinner a few times in the Specialty restaurants (on the suggestion of the YC Restaurant manager, who told us he knows the food was not good but on transatlantic cruises, they do not budget high for food and there was nothing he could do).  Butcher's cut was the best we went 3 times, The Pan Asian was good, we went twice.  Ocean Quay was the most expensive and we would never go back.

We did go over to the Aurea Area (as YC passengers can go anywhere) and that area was well staff and the service was much better than in the YC.  I personally would not take any penalty to get into the YC, for us at least on this cruise, it was NOT what we were sold and hopefully MSC will do something about it.

    Thanks for listening.

  9. I did see that but it just points to inconsistency in what they are posting when it says one thing in one spot and something else somewhere else.

Maybe they are just slow in getting all parts of the site upgraded.

It would seem that for what you pay to stay in the Yach Club it should be the premium plus.

  10. I just logged into the USA site for our cruise leaving on Sunday and it still shows the Deluxe Packages for the Seaview.

It seems that the USA site has NOT been updated to reflect any changes yet.

I know that some people have been posting from the UK but it really does not seem like there is anything official from MSC directly just what people have been told or have “heard” or “seen” posted somewere.

It really is sad that MSC didn’t just be upfront about the changes and post it on their website(s) so that it was clear what direction they were going.

I guess we all just have to wait and see what “officially” ends up on the website.

I honestly do not trust anything I get from calling into MSC as it seems that most people that work there aren’t even on the same page either.

  11. We too have used TA's in the past but we have always found that doing upgrades or making changes can be problematic as using the TA has to call the crusie line anyway to do any changes.

In the case of NCL sometimes you don't get the "upgrade" offers if you use a TA.

We booked out next 2 cruises directly with MSC and although we have had our share of "issues" and delays in getting answers, it seems once you find that one MSC direct staff person that can help you out, you never let go of that contact information.

  12. For any package you book in advance of the cruise (i.e. online) you don't pay the extra 15%.  Any time you do a package on the ship you do have to pay the 15%.  The same was for excursions if you book them online BEFORE you go on the cruise you get 20% off the booking.

We like booking before we get on the ship so that we same some money but more importantly we like to have as much of the cruise paid for BEFORE we get on the boat so we don't have the shock of that bill on the last day.

  13. We are going on the MSC Seaview in less than 2 weeks and I was able to book the specialty restaurants 24 hours after I made the booking so I am not sure why we can't for the Splendida.

I know they have been lots of issues with the website and/or maybe they just haven't got around to putting the option there, if it is available.

  14. I did know that it was refurbished but one would think the MSC website would reflect this under dining options for that ship.  Maybe they are just slow to get that updated.

Hopefully this means we will get the option to purchase a dining package.

  15. I tried to book airfare directly thorough MSC but they told me they do not do that. I am in Canada so maybe they don’t have Canadian gateways for airfare bookings.

  16. I do have to agree with them being more interested in selling cruises that dealing with existing customers and bookings. I have now sent the same email to the “customer service” email that my sales rep told me to use for any questions after the booking was placed and you get nothing back. They seem to be more concerned about selling cruises that making existing clients feel like that are wanted back. My 2 cents.

  17. This will be our first time in the Thermal Suites as well. We booked in the Haven Spa Suite as a cost effective way to get into the Haven with the added benefit of the spa. I did call into NCL today and found out that they only have a max of 25% of the passes available for sale if you are not in a spa suite. The cost for an entire 9 day cruise is $239 usd/per person (if booked in advance), $259 usd if booked on board. The cost for an entire 16 day cruise is $299 usd/per person (if booked in advance), $318 usd/person if booked on board. We got them prices just so we would know what the value of the spa passes are if we were to try to upgrade to a higher cabin category that did not have the spa included.
