  1. We always buy travel insurance, because if something happens to one of us and we need emergency medical attention, I want the evacuation to a US hospital.

Bob, this is a bit off topic. Have you noticed that when you request a guest & agent copy of a paid in full reservation that Cruising power is also sending a 3rd document - the Cruise Care. Was there a change that I missed?

    Joanne

  2. I'm about to receive my 4th Navigator block. I guess that's poor planning on my part. I have it all worked out to get a block I don't have and then I add additional cruises. I have yet to get an Oasis class block[emoji54]

Have you considered swapping one of your Navigator blocks? I have 4 Explorer's.

  3. When you go to see CATS, sit in the first few rows on the end seat. The Cats come down the middle aisle. We sat in the front row and enjoyed the show. We heard many people left before it was over. We could see the incredible make up on the cast.

We had wonderful meals at Giovanni's. We celebrated my DH birthday at Giovanni's and they did a fabulous job even brought us a cake.

We also enjoyed Chops, although DH is the meat eater. I did not have meat as an entrée.

Since we had a gold card we were able to eat dinners in Coastal Kitchen. We felt it was excellent.

    Enjoy!

  4. So we just got home after 3 fab nights on Anthem thought I'd post a few comments...

Ship itself feels overall a lot smaller than oasis especially on the pool and sports decks.

We did loads of activities - in the seaplex bumper cars and roller skating were brilliant fun and not too long a queue. The table tennis air hockey and fusball space in there is brilliantly laid out, the doghouse being in there is a nice touch.

We also did ifly one not to miss! It is was fully booked but we called in to the desk and asked for stand by and were allocated a group within 10 mins. So much fun.

The North star is good although lines are long and it's worth waiting for a day/time when they are able to angle out over the sides of the ship which is port and weather permitting otherwise it's just straight up straight down.

We did puzzle break really really good fun make sure you book it was full every session.

All of the shows were absolutely a1 we will rock you and spectras cabaret, cannot say enough good stuff about them. Our headliner was paul zerdin first class.

The music hall is a great venue with really good bands.

Two 70 is an amazing venue. Casuno felt kind of smaller and not so many tables but good fun. The big screen at the pool is used for movies during the day, otherwise good background music which gave a nice vibe.

Bionic bar was good fun but kind of a do it once thing.

We ate in american icon 1 night and silk 2 nights. We are lunch at windjammer and cafe two70. Breakfast at windjammer and american icon can't fault the food all really great.

Only thing I feel let it down was the drinks service, we didn't have a package but waiters taking drinks orders are very few and far between and bars were really really busy. Most bars had only 1 or 2 servers so the wait was long.

Overall we had an amazing time

What type of cabin did you have?

  5. We are in a D6 balcony 11688, and I am not sure the setup for a D1 balcony. Our balcony cabin is 198 square feet so I might assume if a D1 is similar sq foot footprint it may be similar to ours.

Thanks for checking in, sorry I do not have an exact answer!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In your cabin do you have one or two closets? Are you in an adjoining cabin?

I am more interest in where the bed is located and how many closets there are in a D1 cabin.

I think the cabin next to you is a D1 (11690) any chance you can ask the stateroom attendant if it has 1 or 2 closests and I am curious if the bed is by the balcony or the door.

    Thanks!

  6. Ovation Heading to Australia Winter 16-17

    on 14 April 2015.

Royal Caribbean International announced today that Australia will welcome the Ovation of the Seas as she homeports in Sydney for winter 2016-17. The Ovation had previously been announced as going to China when she launches in 2016, and it was thought the deployment there would be year-round. Now, the ship seems set to rotate between China and Australia.

"Royal Caribbean has been breaking the boundaries in Australian cruising since we arrived in 2007 but today, we have completely changed the face of the cruise industry, making the single largest investment in Australia by any cruise line," said Gavin Smith, regional vice president, Royal Caribbean, Asia Pacific. "Ovation of the Seas will completely redefine the idea of cruising in Australia, taking the industry to the next level by offering a host of incredible never-before-seen features and technologies. This demonstrates our belief in, and long term commitment to, the Australian cruising market."

Ovation of the Seas will be the fifth ship in the Royal Caribbean Australian fleet for winter 2016-17, joining four other Royal Caribbean ships - Voyager of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas in Sydney and Legend of the Seas in Brisbane.

Additional details for the Royal Caribbean's winter 2016-17 season will be revealed at the end of April

  7. So itinerary wise; for 2016 we have:

    Ovation: Asia

    Anthem: Bayonne

    Quantum: Shanghai

    Harmony: Barcelona (Summer), FLL (Winter)

    Allure: FLL

    Oasis: Port Canaveral

Independence: Southampton (Summer) :D, FLL- 4/5 nts (Winter)

    Liberty: Galveston

    Freedom: FLL

    Mariner: Shanghai/Singapore

    Navigator: Southampton/ FLL

    Adventure: San Juan

Explorer: Seattle- why??? (Summer), Sydney (Winter, Oz summer)

    Majesty: Sold to Pullmantur Cruises

    Some positives, some negatives:

    Positives

Indy back in Southampton. She was always "our ship" and we will love to see her again.

Nice to see Navigator again, Another "Ex- Southampton" ship.

Ovation in Asia; Quantum Class just doesn't "wow" us Europeans and maybe they could custom build Ovation for the Chinese.

Harmony debuting in Barcelona is great; hope she returns each summer and doesn't get forked to Chinese quickly like Quantum did.

Serenade doing 10/11 nighters from FLL is great too; Nice Itineraries and perfect length of cruise.

Plenty of ships in the Oz for their Summer season.

    Negatives

Harwich has been abandoned but 2 ships in Venice?

Brazil has been abandoned but at Winter FLL has Harmony, Allure, Indy, Freedom, Navigator and Serenade.

Explorer in Alaska is ridiculous, She is not designed for such climates and yet Jewel, who is designed for Alaska and Scandinavia is in the Med where EX should be. Really poor planning on RCI's part.

At Winter all 3 Oasis class ships are in FL. While I appreciate that this is where they will make the most profit at Winter. Singapore and Hong Kong have spent millions for ports that can accommodate an Oasis class ship- Or two! But RCCL have dumped them with 2 Quantum class ships. Keep Ovation there and swap Harmony and Quantum at winter.

Joe, thank you for taking the time to post the summary for 2016. Have you started one 2017? Still many unknowns.

  8. Thank you for posting great tips.

    A couple of questions:-

How do you download the Royal IQ App. Can you do it on an Android tablet?

We are going on the ship for 16 nights in May and I am worried about wardrobe space and dont think I will be able to take all my oufits. I have booked the Grand Restaurant for 4 evenings and was going to take 4 formal outfits for that. We are in a balcony cabin.. What are your thoughts on this.

    Many thanks

You can use your luggage as storage too. Leave it open with clothes in it and slide it under the bed. We have been on Quantum twice, once for 22 days, the other 21 days. I took too many clothes, as I usually do. We managed to store all the clothes. 1 suitcase had to be stored by our stateroom attendant. Have fun, we loved the ship.

  9. Just off Oasis on Saturday and thought I would add my thoughts on the new Suite Lounge. I know before my cruise I read through each post on this board to gain information on the new areas. I will say that this was our 4th cruise on Oasis, each time in a suite so I was kind of disappointed when I learned that they had "changed" the lounge area as we had really enjoyed the use of the Concierge Lounge on deck 11 on our prior cruises. I frequent the board here often and rarely commit but was so pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the new area that I did want to share. We all know how beautiful the view is from deck 17 and it was definately an awesome spot to enjoy breakfast and dinner. Coastal Kitchen was very good and the service was even better. We ate there every morning for breakfast and 4 of the 7 nights for dinner. (Chops, Izumi and The Dining Room on the other 3 nights) We never had a reservation in advance for CK but were flexible as to the time we could dine. As you have read here before, the menu for breakfast was the same all week but the dinner menu did change on day 5. They have the bar set up open each day from 11:00 - 11:00 (full lounge drinks being served from 5-8:30 and beer/wine served all day) We also are Diamond so we did go into the Diamond Lounge on deck 11 and get a glass of wine to enjoy while getting ready for dinner. The Diamond Lounge is also a very enjoyable spot…MUCH better in my opinion than the previous location. I know everyone has a different opinion but just enjoyed these areas so much during the week that I thought it was worth a post :)

Thank you for your post, we have been looking for info about the new suite lounge and CK. We loved CK on Quantum.

  10. The lounge that Diamond and D+ can use is called Diamond Club located on deck 11. It does have two levels but the entrance is on Deck 11

They serve a continental breakfast in the morning and drinks from 5 - 8:30 pm with hot snacks. These are photos from my Feb 2016 sailing The last photo is the upstairs area.

Emmy, do you know how to make reservations for dinner in Coastal Kitchen? (We are Pinnacle) It doesn't appear in the restaurant list in the cruise planner.

  11. When we boarded the Quantum on Feb 20th, I requested a Wow card and was told they are no longer used. I guess either I got wrong information or this applies only to Quantum. We recieved the envelopes at the end of the cruise to use if we wished to tip additional and I recall the envelope said Wow on it.
