  1. No problem... I, and most of us here on CC don't mind helping out. What becomes frustrating is people know, but won't take the time to "search" for the answers they want (whether here on CC, or Google, Bing) etc. When people state they have searched and can't find an answer they need, many will answer.... when you came up and said you're too lazy to look - you won't get many responses.

Yet I got all the responses I needed though eh? :)

Quite frankly, I probably didn't even need to make a post period I guess. Just in that "excited we're cruising soon" state of mind and like the discourse here.

I browse here a lot, post some, etc. I see the same questions over and over again too. Some how I just skip those posts (if they've got their answers that is) and move on to the next one. No frustrations here. :)

Truth be known, I'd hazard a guess that there would be about 50% less postings here if people with questions really tried hard via searches, etc. to find answers to their questions. What fun is that!? :)

Opinion threads are another can of worms of course.

Looking forward to heading out to sea again quite soon here! Can you feel the excitement!? :)

  2. Thanks for the replies! I'll try to address a couple questions and make a comment or two.

We're staying at the Westin Diplomat...Never ceases to amaze me how much I can save with Hotwire! I can basically have champagne on a beer budget! :) Pretty awesome! lol

I KNOW from the ratings, description, etc. which place is which in several areas, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Beach area being one of them. We're staying there for 3 days pre cruise (and will stay "somewhere", perhaps there, post cruise for a few days as well).

I guess we're thinking the drive might be "part of the the vacation" too. Haven't drove down there in AGES. We're coming from IL so it's a very nice change of climate in the winter for us! :)

I'll have to check out the places to the north a few hours. Excellent idea there!

Sounds like Park and Go is exactly what I'm looking for! Parking at our hotel will NOT be an option! lol

Yes, I could have posted this query somewhere else but the RCI forum is where I hang out in CC. I knew there would be some quality replies here. :)

Again, thanks for the ideas, input, etc. I appreciate it! Can't wait to get down there again. It's COLD here!

P.S. What is the rate at Park and GO out of curiosity.

  3. Hey all,

First time I've tried this. Usually fly in a day or so in advance, cab here, cab there, and then fly home.

Felt like driving down this time (why I'm not sure, guess because I can?! lol)

Anyway, what's the best way to get to port, park, etc. with your own car? I'm sure it's been covered in depth but I'm feeling lazy! :)

Staying down on Hollywood Beach (not that that's relevant) but looking for experienced tips from the masses here!

Good place to park and then shuttle to the ship?

Oh yes, Port Everglades is the port in question! About forgot!

    Thanks in advance!!

  4. If you were not on this cruise stop dissing those that were. Do not compare to Liberty TA or last year. This

is his 5th cruise on Liberty in the 27 months and never a complaint. We are very Loyal To Royal........just wondering what is going on, and as a business....management should wonder also.

Was on THIS cruise (actually a B2B2B) so I guess MY opinion might be valid? Been on Liberty more than 5 times in the last 27 months (why that criteria is needed I'm not sure).... Everything was fine for us and, lol, EVERYONE said so...:D

  5. EVERYONE on the cruise complained about the Windjammer food in particular and all the food overall on the Liberty. Not just us.

That's a pretty big brush you're painting with there! lol You must talk to a lot of people. I do too, but didn't quite cover several thousand.

I know for a fact, not "EVERYONE" on the cruise complained about the Windjammer food in particular and all the food overall on the Liberty". :D

We (and I'll go out on a limb here and say a "few" other folks) had some very good food at the WJ and elsewhere. :)

  6. Excellent answer/s. I was trying hard to figure out why it was such a big deal to pick a specific cruise over an open booking! lol I even asked the agent on board, "what is the advantage to booking specific over open"?! They didn't have an answer! lol

With the lines, appointments, people studying over different options, etc (taking a lot of time in my opinion) I thought there must be some magical advantage to getting that specifc cruise/cabin locked in. To me it appears a big advantage over open booking is just not so! lol

    Had me befuddled. :D

I went with open booking. Seems like that will work just fine for me! :)

    Thanks again!

  7. Hey all…

Hate to ask such a lame question but here goes..

Concerning on board booking… Can anyone explain the benefits in a nutshell please?

Also, what's the difference between putting down $100 each for "anytime booking" (I think that's what it's called). Put down the $100 now (on board) and decide when you want to sail later.

What's the difference between having a "set date" booking on board and doing the "book later" on board?

    Educate the uneducated please? lol

  8. Finally got it. Almost disappointing to say it's "just a Jr. Suite"! lol :D

Deck 10, nice location, etc. Will be nice. Was HOPING for a surprise, but oh well! I guess that's what us lowly Plats get eh? :)

Thanks for all the comments and reading along. Never thought a GNTY could/would be such a long, drawn out affair!

    Take care all!!!

  9. Okay! Good to hear all the "mostly positive" stories (some very much so!). I'm not exactly sure why, but I don't always share exact details of my "goings on" online. Like to retain just a smidgen of anon status I guess…old habits too I suppose…..but whatever….

Will share a little more detail now (and no, I STILL don't know where the heck I'm headed to for the next cabin!). **Note the word "next"**

We're doing B2B2B and are already ON the ship. They STILL aren't coming forth with my Jr. Suite W GNTY detail/s! :) …. In fact, guest relations shows I'm still in the same hump balcony for the next leg! I explained that I know I had that one but paid to upgrade. Like talking to a brick wall. Couldn't convey what was going on.

Anyway, a little more scoop on this ongoing soap opera for those of you who are still interested at this point!

Thanks for listening and congrats to all who've had success! That's it for now. I need to GET OUT THERE and enjoy some more sun! :D

  10. Thanks for the update!! Keep us posted Have a great time Ellen

No problem on the update! Would you like another!? :D

STILL NOTHING! Yes, I realize that's part of the deal of buying a GNTY so no need for lectures people. ;) I WILL say it's more than a little annoying though! lol Have called and "mum's the word".

Oh well! Jr. Suite (or better!) will be nice! Thanks for listening to me whine some more! :)

  11. Westin Diplomat. Worth a few extra miles into Hollywood FL, and worth a few extra $$$. It's a vacation before your cruise vacation!

Concurred! Awesome place! We've stayed there numerous times. As you say, it's a vacation in a vacation. We stay 3-4 nights before our cruise.

At $459 per night, I'd expect it to be very luxurious. Little outta my price range for a pre-cruise hotel, but it looks pretty nice!

    One word. Hotwire.

I've never paid even close to half that via hotwire! Will be staying at the Westin Diplomat this time for $110 a night! Awesome deal. Paid $119 the last time and "talked my way" into a suite on the Starwood Preferred guest floor! :D

  12. We ended up with a JS on our recent Oasis cruise under the W guarantee. We did not find out what we ended up with until the day of the cruise at the pier, so if you don't know by the time you have to head to the port, just ask the guys taking your baggage to check the manifest. They checked and advised us where we had to go. The only negative to this (other then the anticipation of waiting), was we kept getting things delivered to our room with someone elses name on it. We hadn't ordered anything to be delivered to our room, but invites and various mail kept coming to our room for another guest. We would give it to our room steward, but for some reason these things kept coming. Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the input! Under two weeks and still nada for me. Just knowing I'm going to get a Jr. Suite is nice, that's for sure!

I'm doing much better about checking now though. Down to a few times a day! :D

Will post back here if/when I find out! lol

  13. I got my cabin assignment today - finally!!! I don't know the exact time but it was sometime between 12:00 and 3:00 this afternoon - five days before I sail. I have what looks to be a very lovely JS cabin midship - yay :D.

    Cheri

Good deal!!! :) Still no assignment here and I'm well under two weeks to sail day! Probably trying to decide if a lowly Plat like me deserves an awesome Suite instead of a Jr right?! :D

  14. Unless something has changed with the recent web update, your reservation disappears from the website a day or so before the cruise. So you would probably have to call Royal if you wanted to check on your stateroom assignment on boarding day.

Good to know. I'd forgot about that! Hopefully they'll clue me in before that! lol.. Thanks!
