  1. We used to punch a hole and use a lanyard. On the Harmony of the Seas you can't punch a hole as the card has an embedded RFID chip and an antenna that goes around the edge of the card. So at least on that ship we use a lanyard with a plastic sleeve. I use a lanyard but keep it in my pocket so it's easier to locate it when I need it.

  2. We always use the safe as we carry money for the casino. On the last night before going to bed I open it and leave it open just in case the lock batteries fail or if there is some other problem I don't want to have to deal with on the last morning.

And be kind and don't re-lock it when leaving. Last cruise it took us all day to get it unlocked as the crew is very busy that first day. It was empty.

  3. False.

It is a prayer, nothing needs to be said to the group including some so called interfaith declaration prior to eating.

Your categorically brazen declaration that it was not a prayer indicates that you wouldn't be interested in anything that doesn't fit with your person definitions for such things. You've made it very clear that trying to help you understand online would be a waste of time. Maybe if we're face to face on a cruise ship someday you'll be less brazen in categorical dismissing of perspectives that don't fit well with yours and I can share some insights.

I'd be interested to see you definition of "prayer" - and of "false".

  4. All this makes me think of one of the popular items on the what to pack list. A pad of sticky notes to leave messages for the steward. Sounds like a high maintenance type of person. Probably in all of my 49 cruises I've probably left a note once or twice. The were many cruises where I maybe met the steward once during the entire week.

Perhaps we have an uncomfortable feeling about the hard working cabin stewards in general as the majority of us do not have personal butlers or maids in our normal life?

  5. You are just screwing up the system. The steward will keep coming back to see if you removed the door tag. He/she will be worried that something is wrong. Also, if the fridge has products in it, they will want to visit each day.

Lighten their load by not being high maintenance. We left the room for maybe an hour and it was serviced. Other times we've been out on the balcony and seems the morning service was 10 minutes or so. Not a big deal if the steward can keep up with his daily process.

  6. So the elephant in the digital room is how do they take 1000's of digital photos and save you from searching through all for just yours?

I assume they are using some form of facial recognition software to sort them digitally. We never get photos taken so I don't know how the digital photo gallery actually works.

  7. Is it scientifically proved that knuckles are immune to germs?

I push buttons as normal, with fingers, even when norovirus is about. I've never caught it. Maybe because I'm the only one touching the buttons?

PS - anyone who hates to touch objects tat other people have touched, let me know next time we're queueing in the same shop - I'll be happy to look after your change!

You're probably right about the knuckles, so I'll have to start using my elbow.

    Who uses cash anymore?

  8. We do knuckles and don't touch the handrails. As for the elevator "door close" button don't waste your time as they are rarely connected to anything.

If the casino chips are clay based, cleaning is a very complicated process so I assume they are probably never cleaned let alone disinfected.

So as someone mentioned earlier, we keep our hands from our faces in the casino until we leave and do a good wash up.

  9. If it's OBC from cashing in points from the RCCL BofA credit card, any of that unused OBC will be credited back to your CC balance. I just did that with $400 on a cruise in March. Or as others have said, take out money against your room charge account OBC at the casino minus 5%.

Some other OBCs may not be refundable so use them up or charge for cash in the casino.

Just ask at the service desk, they will tell you what OBC is refundable, I did so just to make sure on the last evening.
