I just watched the Enchantment pulling into Nassau, and they have painted under the anchors, so it's no longer a "rust bucket".
See, squeaky wheel gets the oil. OP.
I am envious. She is indeed a beautiful little ship and we miss her a lot. :)Have a fantabulous cruise!
The surface rust being complained about at the anchors is normal for a ship that uses it's anchors often. It's only rundown from the anchors themselves, and doesn't affect the ship at all.Sent from my B3-A30 using Forums mobile app

Someone (OP) is looking for attention!
Really? I'm the OP and was just observing that the rusty streaks detract from the beauty of a cruise ship. I didn't say the hull is rusting away and it's ready for the breakers. Geez.
Just a hint to the captain to roll on some paint once in awhile since they use the anchors each cruise.

None of that is relevant to loop systems, however. A basic hearing aid just makes things louder; a loop system works on an entirely different principle.
For the OP, P&O, Fred Olsen, and Cruises and Maritime all have loop systems of various types (and various degrees of efficiency). They're all UK-based, of course - I can't speak for US lines.
Mine do more than just amplify. They are tuned to my particular frequency band losses.

Just as a note regarding the OP's observations about the hawse pipe being rusty and needing paint, most of that rust is from the anchor and chain, that bleed down onto the paint, not a rusty hull.
That is correct. Just makes for a poor photograph IMHO. I've often seen spot painting on the hull when docked. And it always seems they pick the day I don't get off the ship at a port to chip and paint the railings near the pool. The paint has a very strong odor.

I've had hearing aids for several years and find that most often I have to turn the volume down in the ship theaters. For some reason they often equate loud with a good performance.
We have left theatres when the sound levels are overwhelming.
So I don't see a need for electronic assist when those that need hearing aids will have them and the sound is blasting anyway. I think those wireless systems are most often found in facilities where the programs are typically a person speaking and giving a verbal presentation.
If a person refuses to wear a hearing aid then that's their choice. At my HOA auditorium we have wireless devices for those who refuse to get hearing aids then complain they can't hear the person speaking.

I've been watching the Enchantment of the Seas coming and going on the Key West webcam. Since most people on a cruise take pictures of the ship, you'd think the crew would take a few minutes to slap some white paint on the rust streaks coming from the anchor opening. Just say'n, looks bad.

We tell our children not to be a bully. It's strange that so many adults never learned this lesson. Or maybe they just forgot.

Having a different opinion is not being a bully. Perhaps that is one of the problems with today's school teaching, and the world in general, that is having tolerance for someone else's opinion. I respect someone's opinion that is is fun to leave painted rocks around, I see it as just another form of graffiti that I see on walls and sides of railroad cars.
-
So, if each of the 2,000 passengers each brought 10 rocks then there would be 2,000 x 10 = 20,000 pieces of litter. Now I've seen as many as 6 ships in port at a time, so 6 x 20,000 = 120,000 pieces of litter to be spread around.
So, those who are you are the special, serious ones taking part in this "sweeping" phenomena, hopefully, those few be the only ones with rocks littering our environment, especially when visiting foreign countries. Sounds like a great idea.
-
Littering, just the same as leaving a cigarette butt or a water bottle. I'll be a good citizen and pick them up and deposit them in the nearest garbage bin.
Life must be really boring to have to do this for entertainment. What's the next craze?

The effect of commercial/industrial squeeze foam inserts may not be the same as "noise cancelling" or just being in a deep sleep.

I would be concerned about not hearing emergency anouncements. We were called to muster stations at 6:00 am on the SS Norway.

They're not really "tips" anymore, now called service charges. I don't pre-pay as I want any non-refundable OBC to cover them once onboard.

Seems suspect that the first dinner has prime rib then a couple of days later, aged prime rib.
I avoid anything that looks like it was made up from the previous dinner's leftovers.

Probably a bad idea. Remember no good deed goes unpunished.
I had plenty of problems organising a 4 day cruise for my 5 business partners and their wives, and we work together every day. Each wife wanted to participate in cabin selection. What a nightmare.
I suspect you will have few takers. If you still want to try, I would turn it all over to a TA and don't try to handle reservations yourself.

St Maarten, the bay is beautiful and a nice water taxi ride to town.

On one cruise we randomly joined a couple in the Lido for lunch due to lack of open seats. Turns out they were from the town I grew up in Pennsylvania and they knew my father.

We stretch a string of battery powered mini LED lights around the mirror. Using painters tape stuck a picture of a Christmas tree on the outside cabin door.
And on Christmas morning, left a generic Seasons Greeting card with $$ for our steward when we left for breakfast. ( Don't you trolls beat on me that perhaps the steward doesn't celebrate Christmas, yada, yada, yada).
Later, our steward hugged us in tears that she was missing being with her children during the holidays.
You decorate your home during the holidays, your cabin is your home away from home.

Seems to me to be a bit arrogant to complain about crowds when you are there as a member of the "crowd" and therefore contributing to the said problem.

I quit the HAL boards some time ago due to the passion of some of the posters. Perhaps they have passed on. I can't cite posts from several years ago but there ok was a few suggesting that non-formal dressed passengers should avoid public areas on formal nights.
I also quit going to the welcome back events due to the pushing and shoving and people being knocked down when the doors open.
My recent cruise on the Oosterdam turned me away from HAL due to their continued misunderstanding of what "anytime dining" really means and their reluctance to have more two top tables.

I wear only a long sleeve dress shirt on HAL. If you ask on the HAL board, they will try to shame you into staying in your cabin or only using the rear staircase.
Don't worry, you will now be with the majority not wearing a tux or suit on formal night. I've only witnessed someone in shorts being turned away on HAL.

When our mini fridge was opened on a recent cruise, we discovered that all the snack packages had been carefully opened and the contents removed. Looking into the fridge it appeared everything was still there, uneatened.

Who was your most memorable tablemates? We started off years ago with the mandatory table for 8 at fixed dining time. Later, we started to select two tops as we are not very outgoing with chit-chat.
However, back on a cruise just after the start of the first Gulf war, we were at that table for 8 with 3 other couples our age. Totally unexpected to all of us, at the first formal night, one couple came to dinner in their US Marine dress blues. Turns out they were both Sergeants stationed at Camp Lejeune. Boy did they look sharp.
I was never so proud to be an American. Our table was the MDR center of attention that night. Later, they told me that they never had to buy a drink the remainder of the cruise. Meeting and dining with these Marines is the most memorable from our 49 cruises so far.

We are not heavy bettors, but we have received several casino fare offers on NCL, HAL, and Carnival. Like a 7 day cruise for $99 plus ports and taxes with $99 OBC for an inside. We usually then upgrade to a balcony for a couple of hundred.
The catch is that these casino fares are grabbed by the first person to get the mailing. We have contacted the cruise line only to find out those offered sailings are already gone by the time we get our mailer. But we have been successful in finding alternate ships and sailing dates, especially on Carnival. We call as soon as the mailman leaves the offer.
You're not going to get offers for putting $20 at risk on a penny slot. But you don't have to lose big, it's all about size of bets and length of play.
