  1. Not really relevant to the OP's question. NCL suites are larger but the cost is higher, value for money per sq meter is greater on MSC.

The Haven suite we had was a but larger than the Divina, but I agree the cost compared to the square feet of the total area is a greater value on MSC. On the Escape we almost forgot we were ar sea due to the interior design of the Haven.

  2. We have sailed in the YC on Divina before but on deck 15. We booked deck 16- Suite 16019 for our next cruise.Has anyone had thus suite? I’m a little concerned about noise from the pool deck above. For those that have been on deck 16, did you have issues with noise?

I’m a very light sleeper. Ugh!

  3. Does anyone know if an onboard credit from a travel agency should show up on the docs? Just got ours today for March 3. The credit from MSC is showing but not the credit from our TA.

  4. I think there is one table for nine, so they might have to arrange something for you, if they can - they will! Arthur was our waiter and was excellent (We were on the right side when you enter from the hall, left side coming up the stairs) and I heard (Second hand knowledge) that William was best on the other side (Where the table for nine is). So glad to see that Arthur is on the Seaside! He made our Divina dining experience our best ever! Hopefully he will still be on our voyage on March 3rd!

  5. We were on the Divina in December. We went to the M&G, same friendly staff and Captain. We saw him many times over the course of our 10 days cruise. He was always talking to the guests or walking around the ship with staff. We even caught him at the bar drinking coffee or tea. Great guy!! Hope he comes over to Seaside.

I agree that the M&G is a must do on MSC. They staff was so engaged with the passengers. Alas, Captain Massa is staying on The Divina. But the good thing is it will be doing the 10-12 day itineraries so there will be more time to get to know him. 😀

  6. Wonderful to hear, thanks for your response! We're quite inexperienced cruisers and we were really delighted that we managed to snap up a forward looking cabin. Never thought about the head winds!! Good to be forewarned, we'll see what it will be like. It just feels so exciting to be looking ahead when the ship sails!! [emoji5]

The great thing is that you can always head up 1 deck to the One Pool area and have the same view and less head winds. And a lot of the time we had the deck mostly to ourselves.

  7. Wonderful stories and reviews, thanks all for sharing! We are sailing first time with MSC in August, and booked YC.

I just received my papers for checking in, and have a few questions, maybe one of you knows..?

    - Our cabin is 16006 - we thought from looking on the deck plans, this was the biggest (there is 4 of us...). But on the papers it says 29 square meters, which seems to be the smallest size of the cabins ... are the cabins on the side of the ship bigger?

    - The drinks .. inclusive on the whole ship or not? It says on the papers: " All-inclusive, lunch and dinner in YC restaurant " . Somebody here (cannot find the thread) said that drinks were also inclusive on other parts of the ship when you have YC, but is this true?

    Many thanks for your answers,

    Warm regards Marlou

    Hi Marlou,

Sorry, but I'm not sure about the cabin size. Maybe someone has been in one of the forward facing cabins. I have heard that the balcony can be tough to use when moving as the wind is strong...

The drinks are included ship wide. There were some drinks that weren't available at every bar, like my Sauterne. But they had other nice offerings.

  8. Did you have a suggested time on your documents? From the other post is the first I've heard about assigned times for YC guests but maybe I just missed it.

I think there was something amiss for our boarding as it hasn't been the norm from reports. There was only 1 seashore butler checking everyone in when we arrived and he wasn't able to leave to escort us in. He had to wait for help and Thee seemed to be a communication problem between him and the other butlers. Just a small blip in our experience...

  9. Sunshine2u pretty much answered the same way I would. We had a table for 2 by the window and I really don't think any tables would have felt cramped. It's a small space and it didn't appear anyone was seated without their party.

The lobster tail was fresh water and served on the second formal night. It was better than the lobster that I've paid for in specialty restaurants on the other lines. Arthur did surgery and removed the meat which was nice.

There were dishes from the specialty restaurants that were periodically served in Le Muse so we didn't feel the need to ever leave Le Muse. And if you order pizza to be delivered it's from the specialty restaurant and there is no charge, but if you go there to eat they will charge you.

We also booked with the future cruise staff in the main area. You can have the concierge arrange a time if you'd like. You do need to bring your credit card with you for the deposit as they don't charge it to your onboard account. We didn't have it, but the future cruise representative Genna was great and just told us to have the concierge call her when we were on our way down the next day to pay. That way we didn't have to have an appointment to pay.

We often had breakfast and lunch in Le Muse. They only have half of the restaurant opened as needed so we sometimes sat at a table for 4 but not with other guests.

Antonino would stop by each night to let us know what he was making and just to chat. Timing was always perfect between courses. Drinks were offered immediately upon sitting and of course they remembered what we generally preferred.

Dechen brought me a few nice Sauternes throughout the cruise that I couldn't find in some of the other bars.

  10. We arrived a bit earlier than we should have which was around 11:00 and had to wait outside for 20 minutes. So next time we'll show up around 11:30. They needed us out of the cabin by 8:00 and the ship around 9:00. We had a great breakfast in Le Muse and came back for our carry ons. They we had a last cup of java in the top sail before saying arrividerci to the crew. Our bags didn't need to be put out until 2:00 am which was great!

  11. I'm looking forward to the trivia contests next month. I keep waiting for a cruiseline to have Jimmy Buffett trivia contest but so far no dice.

They did have a musical trivia which was fun! There was a group of the same people at the trivia sessions so it was nice to see familiar faces!

  12. What type of activities are there during the day?

We did trivia a couple days. There were all types of trivia. We played Bingo. There were the typical pool party events but we really relaxed in the Yacht Club. There were wine tastings and dance classes. We loved exploring the ship.

  13. A giant smile from Vishnu this morning when I showed him your review!

How marvelous! The team is the best we've had! Glad you got the sand one! Thank you for letting them know how much we enjoyed our cruise. They worked hard to make it a nice one for us.

Location of 15011 is the best too!

  14. thanks for the review! If I may ask a couple questions...were there a lot of fish dishes for dinner? Is there a lot of smokers on board this cruise line? We are looking for options for anniversary celebration in 2019.

    thanks so much, Lori

Fish dinners were always available as well as many other options. There was always something to try both new and traditional offerings.

The smokers weren't a problem. The casino was nonsmoking which was nice. There were a couple of smoking areas but it never intruded.
