  1. If I remember correctly, we went to Playa Mia when we were in Cozumel on our last cruise (on the Paradise as well). It was a last minute change for us because there was poor visibility and our snuba excursion was cancelled. Anyway.... If it was indeed Playa Mia, and I'm 97% sure it was, food was included in our beach day. We ate brunch around 10:30, got off the ship as soon as they made the announcement, then ate at the beach for lunch and again right before we left. We took the last shuttle back, showered and changed when we got back to our cabins and had pizza or deli later in the evening. We've only gone to the dining room for dinner a handful of times on port days. We typically prefer to relax after a day of snorkeling or exploring :)

  2. If you are more than 5-10 minutes late, they MIGHT still seat and serve you, but it can really mess up service for tablemates. We had a family of 4 show up 20 minutes late one night and we were not served our entrees until they were "caught up". I like YTD because on port days I don't have to stress. If we don't do YTD, we always planned to be back on ship an hour before dinner or just hit the lido.

  3. Thanks everyone. It seems like a really stupid question, I'm sure. We took a break for a few years to have another baby, but we are ready to start cruising again! I never went to any of the past guests parties before and there really aren't any perks to being gold vs. red that I would care about. I just wasn't looking forward to a red sail and sign card in the middle of my collection. (Lame, I know:D)

  4. I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered repeatedly, but I just can't seem to find the answer anywhere. So when are the points awarded, before or after the cruise? For instance, I currently have 23 points. I am booked for an upcoming 5 day cruise. When I step onto the ship, will I be gold or red?

  5. There's a lot to do on a cruise for non-drinkers. My husband and I don't drink. There's always trivia games, karaoke (sorry, I can't spell), ping pong tournaments, minigolf, the library, card games, etc. Hopefully you aren't cruising alone and you have someone with you that you trust so you can look to them for support. There is alcohol EVERYWHERE, but it is avoidable. Use cash for your sail and sign account and only put a little bit on there or if you are going with someone else, only let them have charging privileges. You have to do whatever is going to work for you, but definitely think it out ahead of time. I probably gave you way more than you asked for, but I am a pastor in a drug and alcohol rehab facility. There are always friends of Bill W meetings and when we are on a cruise, I often stop in just to see if they need any help with the meeting. Some meetings are small, but there always seems to be a great connection between the group members.

  6. On the Sensation, my 10 year old DD and I saw a husband and wife arguing. Husband leaning over the railing in the atrium and wife below by the bar. As he was yelling at her about their bar tab, his dentures fell out of his mouth and onto a teenage girl who was sitting in the chairs below. The look on the girls' face was priceless! When teenage girls' dad/travel companion (??) retrieved the dentures and threw them up at the man, who was still yelling at his wife, by the way, my daughter and I got out of there!
