In general, ships do have gluten free pancakes or similar (you'll have to ask, they aren't necessarily going to be out), plus bread at dinner. Rolls (burger/hotdog) are typically available, though you may have to ask.  You can request GF pasta.  There's usually GF desserts (like ones that don't typically contain gluten anyway like mouse/jello) and sometimes ones that use GF flours.

They key is to ask if you don't see what you want. They've got it.

Right, but Icon is different - there is a dedicated gluten free section in the Windjammer, so my question was intended to be directed at someone who has been on Icon (or currently on Icon) who can show what's specifically on the Icon in their Windjammer.

  2. Hi - due to celiac disease, my daughter and I must do gluten free only.  I understand there's a special section on the Icon that's exclusively gluten free.  I've seen a still photo from a distance and a quick 10 second video that moves super fast.  If anyone has any photos from breakfast, lunch and dinner of the gluten free area that truly shows all the different selections, that would be so helpful for our family's food allergies!!!!   Like for breakfast, do they do pancakes, waffles, french toast?  Do they have rolls, bread, buns at lunch/dinner?  Is there a pasta station every night there?  Are there any desserts there besides the standard Royal Caribbean chocolate mousse and jello at lunch and dinner?  Thanks so much in advance - my whole family truly appreciates it.

  3. I've seen mixed reviews about the Casitas.  Do they now have shade?  Or are they really far away from the pool just out in the open?  Also, how many are there on Oasis?  I saw that choosing the Casita is on a first-come, first-served basis the day of your rental.  I didn't know if it made any difference as to location.  Truly are there better locations than others (I know there are for cabanas/beach beds on Coco Cay and Labadee)?  If so, what are the best locations?    This is for Oasis of the Seas, so anyone who has been on Oasis recently, I'd appreciate any input/feedback.  Thanks again!!

  4. I booked a cabana at Barefoot Beach in Labadee.  However, we are not suite guests this time and are not Pinnacle.  We are Diamond Plus and will have The Key this sailing, though.  Nothing on the booking page for the cabana indicated that Barefoot Beach was for Suites/Pinnacle-only, and I only recently learned Barefoot Beach was suites-only.  I don't want to get turned away when we show up for our hilltop cabana.  Has anyone had actual experience in this scenario?  I'd call Royal Caribbean, but even the C&A members working the D+ desk are barely able to answer questions anymore, it seems.  Thanks in advance.

  5. We will be sailing on the Oasis and a couple of us require gluten free meal options.  Anyone else in the same boat (pun intended) who has ideas as to some special, off-the-menu items that they've successfully been able to get the Main Dining Room or Windjammer to prepare?  I know there are the basics on the nightly menu, and I know we can "just talk to the Waiter and Head Waiter on Night 1."  I'm looking for actual entrees and desserts that are fun and different that aren't necessarily the typical listing on the menu.  Or, if there was something really great on one of the menus that you loved, let me know about that too.  Since different ships have different chefs, I'd prefer knowing about the Oasis specifically if possible.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts and help!

  6. Hi - going to be traveling on Oasis and will not be in the Suite Guest Priority Group.  What benefits does Diamond Plus have vs purchasing The Key?  The Key promotes special VIP sections at shows (aquatheater and regular theater), Priority boarding and priority departure, along with reserved times for rock climbing and flowrider.  Which of these benefits from The Key (which also includes Zoom Surf and Stream) do Diamond Plus members get on Oasis?   Main thing of importance is reserved seating at shows, and priority embarkation/debarkation.  Thanks in advance!

  7. For anyone who has been on Harmony and Oasis recently (past several months or so), how were the ages actually divided up among the Teen Program, and which of the Teen areas were the different ages allowed to use?   I've seen a couple of discrepancies in published materials online, so I wanted to hear from folks who have had teens recently on Harmony and Oasis, as to how they actually divided the ages and which of the specific teen area are for the "younger" teens as opposed to the "older" teens.   Thanks in advance!!!

  8. Does anyone have experience staying in the Royal Suite since the Amplification on Navigator of the Seas (or even just before)?  Per deck plans, it looks like  it is DIRECTLY underneath Johnny Rockets Express.  Many years ago, perhaps on Navigator or Mariner, we stayed in a cabin underneath Windjammer and it was insanely noisy.  Just curious for anyone with experience staying underneath Johnny Rockets Express in the Royal Suite on the amplified Navigator to see if there was any discernable noise in the mornings or at night.   Thanks!!

  9. We've been exclusive loyal to Royal for at least 20 years, and over the past several years we've been exclusively on the Oasis class ships and love them (although our last voyage on Symphony left a little to be desired, but I digress).  We're looking at the Disney Fantasy for next summer as we CONSTANTLY hear amazing things about the ship, and I'm curious if there are any families who have been on BOTH an Oasis class Royal Caribbean ship AND the Disney Fantasy, who can really help me compare them.  My wife and I would have our 12 year old daughter with us.

On the Oasis class, we enjoyed the karoke in On Air, liked walking on the Promenade, we loved the AquaTheater (but I know there's nothing like that on other cruise lines), and enjoyed some of the more casual dining such as El Loco Fresh, Sorrento's pizza, and Windjammer for lunch.   We also liked the open feel of Central Park and the Boardwalk.

Yes, I know some of those are the neighborhood concept exclusive to Royal Caribbean, but outside of the pool deck, does the Disney Fantasy have enough outdoor activities?  I'm curious the general types of onboard activities that aren't just bars/lounges/nightclubs.

The rotating dining concept seems interesting, but I wasn't sure if people were truly happy with it.

Are the tweens really happy with The Edge?  That's one area where Royal Caribbean is lacking - their program for tween ages.

So, if you've been on both an Oasis class ship and the Disney Fantasy, please reply and let me know thoughts/experiences you can share.

    THANK YOU in advance!!!

  11. We are considering Oasis out of New York/New Jersey NEXT May (assuming everything subsides), but I had a BIG question - I've heard the seas traveling down the Atlantic can be a lot rougher than Caribbean seas.  Now, we got off of Symphony in early March (Miami and Caribbean) and those were some of the roughest seas I've ever encountered in 20+ Royal Caribbean sailings.   I know that if there is a storm of some sort, it can make an impact.   Just asking - GENERALLY speaking, how are the seas on the larger cruise ships for people that have gone out of NY/NJ versus going out of Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Port Canaveral?   Thanks in advance and stay safe, everyone!

  12. My daughter and I both have celiac.   A year ago I wasn't overly impressed with the gluten-free choices on the Symphony.  Anyone been on there recently that has info on gluten-free options - cakes, breads and the fun stuff (not just the obvious "hey - grilled chicken is gluten free" - lol)?   For instance, can we not get gluten free pasta in the main dining room?  How about at Jamie's Italian?   Any recommendations for specific "off the menu" gluten-free items you've requested and they've been able to do?  I know people say to let your Head Waiter know and they'll take care of it.  Problem is that in reality we'll get a preview of the next night's menu, but nothing really special happens other than choosing something gluten free from the next day's menu.    Plus we really like the specialty restaurants and did not know what types of fun/cool gluten free items they can make.

We can get burgers, steaks and grilled chicken anywhere of course - but we are hoping they can do some really good breads, pastries, breakfast foods, or other great goods in a gluten free method, which would normally be full of gluten.

    Thanks in advance!!!

  13. Looking at taking a cruise out of Cape Liberty next June.   We've never sailed out of NY/NJ and come down the Atlantic coast.  Are the seas typically rougher than sailing from Florida and doing the Caribbean?  I know it's hurricane season, so take out the remote odds of an early hurricane.  Just curious as to whether the waters are any rougher or not based on your experience.   Thanks in advance

  14. About two months ago, I booked specific times for My Time Dining  for our cruise on Symphony of the Seas.  Now, in Cruise Planner, the times are gone and it merely shows "At Your Leisure" for each and every My Time Dining Reservation I previously made.  Is this a temporary hiccup in the system, or some sort of real change?   Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue.  Thanks in advance.

  15. We are going on the Symphony of the Seas in June and I've been trying to book Chops or Jamie's Italian for months, and neither one is showing up to this very day.  When I talk to RCI, they just tell me "keep checking back" - the pre-cruise folks have no clue.   Is anyone else experiencing this same issue on the Symphony?   I know it's not because they're sold out for the entire cruise.  I'm just hoping they aren't being shut down for some reason on that cruise...any meaningful info or experiences would be appreciated.   Again, this is for the Symphony.  Thanks.

  16. Anyone purchase The Key yet?  We are Diamond Plus but NOT sailing in a suite later this year on Symphony.  Any perks for Perfect Day in Coco Cay for instance?   You get VOOM and some exclusive times for flowrider, rock wall and zipline.  But otherwise can’t see much difference compared to D+.   Will diamond Plus still have reserved seating at shows or is that exclusively going to be Pinnacle and Suite?   There also seems to be confusion about whether you have to book show on daily planner to use reserved seating through The Key.

But anyone been on Symphony/Oasis/Allure with any info on how they really utilize The Key?   Thanks!!!

  17. On board now and Royal App (not the Royal IQ) is now asking for login and eventually tells me I have to wait until closer to departure for ship’s information, even after I login. App worked fine yesterday for showtimes, activities, deck plans, etc. Anyone else having similar problem? Thanks.
