  1. WE will also be in a family group of 15 celebrating our 50th anniversary. Has anyone booked CHOPS for a family dinner and was there a separate area for a private celebration?

What have you all done about a group picture? Do you just show up on formal nite for a typical pre-dinner picture? I am interested in just one group picture taken....I didn't want an expensive private session.

  2. We have received a bottle of wine with NO card. I had to call Guest Services to find out who it is from....my TA. That is unacceptable! We were gifted a Specialty Rest. dinner and our waiter told us it was from our TA....we had NO clue. WHY don't they tell you???

Years ago, I gifted OBC to my Mom on Princess and she never got it. When we investigated, they had given it to her roommate since she was the main person on the reservation. 🥴

We took the water taxi over to “town” and turned left, lol. Usually we go to the right but we mixed it up this last trip. The resorts and restaurants have people renting out the chairs and they usually include use of their facilities with the chair rentals. So we rented from the white resort on the left. Can’t remember the name but they had very clean bathrooms and a nice dining area outside. It’s easy to see if you taxi over.

I am not sure where you are referring to....Do you know the name of beach? I have never been on the water taxi.

I feel like chair rentals are priced within reason in most ports.  For example, we rented chairs, again, in Saint Martin.  $40 for two chair with umbrellas and a bucket of drinks (whatever you like, sodas, beers, etc.) and wifi.  Pretty reasonable to me.

What beach did you go to?

That has been our experience. Sometimes on the bed, sometimes at the repeater's party, sometimes just handed to us, sometimes nothing requiring a call to C&A after the cruise.

We got our 1st block today on Navigator. But I called Guest Services who said they would contact Loyalty. It was on our bed this eve when we returned from dinner. I have read where it was mailed months later, or not at all,,,but some got them on the ship. I didn't want to wait and depend on RCCL.

  6. This post is only to share an experience a family had while cruising. Real life still happens despite all of our planning and anticipating our trips of a lifetime.  In December, a friend's 76 year old brother was on an RCCL snorkeling excursion in Curacao with his entire family-wife, kids, spouses, and grandkids. He decided to get out of the water and his grandson was with him. He sat down on a recliner. Within minutes, his grandson realized he wasn't responding to him. He was gone! I don't know any details of what happened after that. But I do know that RCCL took great care of the family, escorting them where they needed to go including the American Embassy. They flew the family home. The body was removed to the local morgue and placed in refrigeration. Here is the clincher---He died Dec. 20th and he was JUST embalmed in Curacao last week and JUST arrived to his home state 2 days ago!!  The government down there completely closed for the holidays so nothing was done. Island time, I guess!!😬 His funeral is Saturday. The family is SO ready to get this over after agonizing for 3 weeks. That's understandable. What a nightmare to go through, especially since it was so unexpected!

  7. This may be a stupid question, but how do the slot machines work if there is no lever or button? We were on Allure last August and decided to go to the casino since they have a separate non-smoking one. We were lost when we discovered we couldn't figure out how to work it. It had been a few years since we went into the casino and it had all changed. There was not a soul around to ask for help, so we just walked away. Cruising in Feb. and thought I would see if anyone can give us a general idea of how we access the machine. Thanks!

Cabo is a tender port.  To get off the ship involves taking a tender ashore, so "that don't involve water" is not possible.  My favorite excursion is the water taxi tour out to the Arch.

Puerto Vallarta has a lot of excursions, many of which involve tequila.  My favorite excursion recently was a Tequila Tasting and Mayahuel Tour -- the Mayahuel Show was a Cirque type show based on Mexican folklore about the origin of tequila.

PV, many people just take a shuttle to the Malecon (downtown pedestrian area) and walk along the Bay, sightsee, shop, eat and drink.

Is the "water taxi tour" through the cruiseline or one they offer at the port?

Yes, Galveston Saltwater Moms will pick you up from there.  Just be sure to contact them ahead of time to get in a reservation.  The other thing to mention is it is best to pay cash.  They aren't set up for credit card payments (or at least they weren't) unless you want to send them payment thru a pay app.  You can ask about payment when you make your reservation.  Or you can Lyft to the port.  There has been an issue sometimes with using Uber.

Is it expected to tip them in addition to the transportation cost?

I'm just going to put them with the rest of my luggage and not my carry on

Probably not a good idea.  On one of our cruises. the person's luggage got DROPPED in the water by the port people! 😬 (RCCL gave her money to shop for clothes at Kmart in St. Thomas). 🤣
