  1. Been following your posts. Hope your feeling better. We have been on Oasis and Allure and are booked on Allure next year. Love Central Park, thanks for the great pictures of such a special place. I really think it places like this that separate RCCL for the rest. We are part of the Loyal to Royal group and can't want to get back. Until then will enjoy ridding along with you.

We are Diamond Plus, but have never heard of a group called "Loyal to Royal". What is that, and how do we join it? Or is it by invitation only?

  2. Couple of questions-

1: How well do magnetic hooks hold things on the walls? I've heard that on some ships the walls are too smooth, and the hooks just slide down with anything heavier than a hat on them.

2: What do you use your hooks for? I've been on cruises before without them- not sure what I'd do with them?

    Thanks!

We have been cruising for many years, and our magnetic hooks are the first thing to go in our luggage! They are SOOOO handy for numerous situations. Agree that the bigger the hooks and magnets (earth magnets), the better they work. My DH also made some using clips, so we could post/hang the daily Cruise Compasses, invitations, magazines, documents, lanyards, etc. on the walls. We don't lose things anymore, and the cabin stays neat.

  3. We are onboard. The sail away from Port Everglades was beautiful with the all the spectators and tugs spraying water. The ship is absolutely beautiful. We loved the Oasis and Allure, we really love the Harmony. It feels like a step up from something familiar!

Can you find out when The Abyss slides are open? What times? Are they open daily, even in port days?

  4. Over the years I have tried the patch, Bonine and Dramamine and ALL 3 make me sleepy, thus missing the fun. A few years ago I learned about Sea Bracelets and would not sail without them. DH and friends also wear them when deep sea fishing. You can buy them an most drug stores.

I also recently discovered the ginger pills and ginger gum and they too work well for me. I buy them at WalMart.

I am one who can get seasick on dock so must be prepared to enjoy every minute of cruise.

    Happy Sails

Where (in what department) at Walmart do you get the "ginger gum"? Never seen nor heard of it.

  5. that may have been true in the past, but times have changed. Many smoke free casinos now that are very successful. Many cruisers would love to gamble, but just can't tolerate the smoke (me included). Conversely, nothing stops smokers from continuing to gamble. They just have to step away for a smoke break on occasion like they do just about everywhere else in the states now.

Not really a matter of if the casinos will go smoke free, but when. In the mean time, allowing only active gamblers to smoke, but not those ducking in just to light up would be a step forward.

    totally agree.

  6. Just come back from cruise on Navigator. Enjoyed my cruise very much but I am going to have a moan ...

    Drinking

    +++++

I know that it is easy to unwittingly have one to many. I have done it myself but taken care not to repeat. However, it did seem that due to the popularity of the drinks packages, there was one too many drunk passengers on board the ship and it is a trend that troubles me.

    Smoking

    ++++++

Smokers cross the line when their habits impact or intrude on others. The casino has now become a smokers lounge where there are just too many smokers and not enough ventilation. For all practical purposes a no go zone has been created.

There has to be a balance and sometimes the demeanour of some smokers is seriously selfish and inconsiderate.

What annoyed me most was seeing one person on a mobility scooter with oxygen, lighting up.

There you go. I have had a moan and feel better for it. :)

Totally agree about the rudeness of the smokers. On last Oasis cruise earlier this month, I had one RUDE girl blowing smoke in my face because she wanted to play on the slot machine I was on!! It got so bad, I reported her to the casino manager, who did nothing except tell me to go play on the non-smoking side, if smoke bothered me!!! Makes no difference if you go to the non-smoking side anyway because the smokers smoke on their side, THEN they come over to the non-smoking side reeking of smoke. You cannot get away from it. There was also a woman who was smoking on the non-smoking side (almost right in front of the casino host desk, which is clearly in the non-smoking area). I (nicely) asked her to put out her (LONG) cigarette because she was in the non-smoking area. She told me no because there was no LAW saying she couldn't be there, and besides she paid RCCL dearly to stay in a suite, so, in her words, she "would do whatever she wanted to do and there was nothing I could do about it...get over it!!" Nice woman, wouldn't you say? Her husband then joined her in the non-smoking area smoking a huge nasty cigar. We gave up, went to our room, and called it a night. Can't and won't fight it anymore. If RCCL won't do anything about it, then they lose our casino revenue. There are other things we can do on the ship than be exposed to rude and uncaring people. We also witnessed EVERY NIGHT people coming into the casino, sitting down at a slot machine, not put in the first penny, but rather just sat there to smoke. Again more lost revenue for the casino, since people who wanted to play those machines, couldn't because the smokers would sit there, smoke and many times, get free drinks. Whew...I've put in my two cents for the day!!

  7. For debarkation, no need to worry, at all. Another poster here recently had the same experience. If you are doing self debarkation, just hop off at 6:45. They start at 6:30 so that clears the line. When we left our cabin at 6:45 - we literally walked right to the gangway, right off the ship, and right up to customs. Not a single person in front of us.

The fear of "a ship this size" is misguided. A lot of people think the ship will be crowded. Embarkation and debarkation a nightmare, etc. etc. It couldn't be further from the truth. The ship will not feel crowded one bit and getting on/off is simple and painless.

Totally agree with your comments. The Oasis class ships (we've been on the Oasis and Allure numerous times and will be on the Harmony in December) is absolutely our favorite. No issues with getting on or off. We usually use the express disembarkation because we catch an early flight home. You have to handle your own luggage getting off, but much faster this way, if that is a concern.

  8. Several of us who are Diamond members travel together are planning a cruise on the Harmony, but one thing troubles us. We all like to play cards or board games together on cruises, but we like to also be able to look out windows when we play. We understand that the Diamond Lounge (where we usually would meet to play) on the Harmony has no windows. We all have checked the ship's layout, looked at pictures online and on Cruise Critic, read reviews, but none of us can find a place to play our games that have windows. The Diamond Lounge on the other Oasis ships were perfect, but the Harmony has turned that area into Wonderland Restaurant. Does anyone know where we might go on the Harmony to accommodate our needs (i.e. windows)?

  9. We just got off of Harmony on Sunday and we also had reservations for the comedy show. Once on board we received a message stating that the comedy show was cancelled. We inquired further and we were told it was just on the Mediterranean itinerary due to so many long days in port. Disappointed for our sailing, but I think you will be fine once she gets to Florida. She is a beautiful ship!!!

No mention of any adult comedy shows being offered for our New Year's Eve cruise on the Harmony out of Fort Lauderdale.

  10. Just returned from a 7 Night Western Med onboard the Harmony.

The water slides and the abyss are free of charge, however they do have certain opening hours.

The Comedy Club your referring to is "The Attic"

On our precruise planner we had the option to book a Comedy Headliner Show, However when we boarded we got a message to our Stateroom TV from Cruise Director saying that Comedy Shows had been cancelled since September, please refer to Cruise Compass for up to date Shows.

I've already booked some of the shows, but there was no mention of an Adult Comedy Show on our cruise. Bummer!

  11. Since Allure's last dry dock, there is no DL on deck 6. They moved the DL to where the old CL was on decks 11 and 12.

Correct. According to the deck plans and a video I saw, Wonderland is now where the Diamond Lounge is on the Oasis and Allure. Diamond Lounge is on Deck 4.

  12. We are booked on the New Years Eve cruise on the Harmony, but we are told by other cruisers on the Oasis (that we just got off of) that the Harmony no longer will have the Comedy Club. They also mentioned that the new water slides and The Abyss slides charged a fee to use them. We also were told that there was an age restriction on the slides--that older adults could not use them. Is there such a restriction--what is the maximum age? Also what exactly is the Wonderland restaurant? We understand that it is where the Diamond Lounge is currently on the Oasis and Allure. We also were told that it is only open for dinner. Can this Wonderland restaurant be used during the morning or afternoon to relax, play cards, and watch people on the Boardwalk...or is it closed completely during the day?

Answers to any or all of my questions would be appreciated.

  13. NOT true. You can have as many lobster tails that you want FREE. The Oasis is an amazing ship and it will blow you away. TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDE DOWN. The best ship I have ever been on.

I totally agree with you. We just got off the Oasis on Saturday, and we are scheduled to go again on the Oasis on October 3rd. That will be our 5th time on this Royal Caribbean ship (Oasis) alone. The new main dining room menu selections were terrific. We found no need or desire to pay extra for a specialty restaurant. We are Diamond Plus members, so obviously we are "loyal to Royal". To WISHFULONE--give Royal Caribbean a chance. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

  14. Just trying to understand.... is it Minimum $10 per each bet or $10 Minimum per play?

Roulette, typically play outside only. Was $5 Min on MJ May. On Inside of Roulette, are you saying each number is $10 or play a least 10 bets inside for $1 each?

More votes I see for a smokeless Casino. Please make sure you let the Casino Mgr know you can't stand the smoke in the Casino. Let them know on the Survey after your cruise.

Just got off the Oasis last week. The casino was full of smoke. The smokers on the smoking side were extremely disrespectful and rude. Then they would come over to the non-smoking side, and of course, they might not smoke on that side, but they SMELLED of smoke because of being on the smoking side. You couldn't get away from the smoke. One lady was smoking heavily in the non-smoking side. I asked her nicely to put out her cigarette or return to the smoking side, but she proceeded to ask me if I worked for RCCL. When I told her no, she told me to mind my own business. I contacted the casino manager and security, but they did absolutely nothing. Shame on RCCL!!

  15. We have been on the Oasis and Allure numerous times, but we have never been in a cabin this high on these ships. Can anyone tell me how noisy it will be since the H20 zone is right above our cabin? And the Diamond Lounge is right below us? Also can one detect a considerable amount more motion or sway to the ship this high up?
