Thanks everyone. I finally made it to the Voyage Personaliser and see my dining options. They put us at 8:30, but because of the show times we prefer 6, for which there is a wait list.
With the ship departing at 4:30, what would be a good time to board? We rented a car at Heathrow so we can get to Southampton at our leisure.
Also, the VP showed that we can purchase a wine package, but no other information. Someone mentioned to order by phone, but I sure would want to see the selection before buying. Where can I find that information?
Any other information helpful to a Cunard first timer would be appreciated.

We just booked Queen Victoria for a British Isles cruise, May 12th and have a lot of questions. We have cruised with Celebrity (nice) and Royal (not so nice) and would like to know how Cunard is different. We booked a balcony room (BE).
We always booked an aft cabin but now have a forward cabin. Is there a big difference in feeling the ships movements? What is the best time is to board? Can we purchase a drink or wine package and/or specialty coffee? When booking it showed open dining (times?) but the confirmation gives us 6PM. Does Cunard have open dining times?.Does anyone have experience with the Cunard airline program? Can we pick our own flights?
Lots of questions and thanks for your help.

How about formal nights on a 13 night cruise (British Isles) 3 or 4?

Thanks, pepperrn. I did go there, but the information is very general. I could not find any details. Maybe there is a link on Cruise Critic for this?

I am looking at a cruise on the Queen Victoria and have tried to find good info about Balcony staterooms, like square footage, obstructions, bathroom etc..
Where can I find this information?

Celebrity now offers the Classic beverage package as one of the perks, but I cannot find if you can upgrade to the Premium package, or what the additional cost would be. If you can upgrade, can you do that on board?
-
Is it worth it to wait for sales to come up before booking, or do you still get reductions in price anyway?

We had to cancel this trip twice and were hoping to finally do the B to B from Ft Lauderdale via Valparaiso to Buenos Aires next year, but now we cannot find this itinerary on X website.
Anyone know if X still offers this?

Well...maybe you will be lucky and get to visit the most versatile and interesting port in the Caribbean: Puerto Rico, which came through the storm practically unscathed, except for widespread power outages

I answered this on your same question on the Celebrity boards, I use cruisetimetables.com but the info you give is incorrect as Queen Mary will be crossing from New York to Southampton on July 8 - if you mean this year
Sorry, I meant July 18.:o

For years we checked Cruise TT, to find out what other ships were in port the same day we arrived. That way we could figure out how busy the port and tours would be. Lately, the Cruise TT information is lacking a lot. Several times, when we checked, there were no other ships reported to be in port, but upon arrival there would be several other ships. Yesterday I checked again, for Flam Norway and no ship was reported to be in port on July 8. Then I found out, the Queen Mary will be in port. Is there a better website for this info?

Are the aft facing cabins (C1) on Infinity worth the extra cost?
Are the cabins or balconies bigger than average?

You will love the Old San Juan, where the ship docks. There is so much to see, walking the Old San Juan streets. My favorite walk is the tree lined Paseo de la Princesa all the way to Castillo Del Morro. When coming off the ship into the street, turn left and take the tree lined Paseo to the fountain and continue under the city walls. You can also step through the city gates at La Puerta de San Juan and check out the hotel Convento in Calle Cristo. My favorite restaurant is Carli's Bistro, owned by a musician who used to play with the Beach Boys and plays the piano every night. The bartender, Fausto, makes the best mojitos and other cocktails and the Lamb chops are the best I ever had. The restaurant is close to the cruise terminal under the Banco Popular building. Enjoy!

Unlike the $900 deposit, which is per cabin, the $25 deposit is per person so will be $50. You can also put your cruise on a 24 hour hold and call them for the deposit.:)

We booked a South America cruise on Celebrity for December and were told that our passports need to be valid for at least 6 months after the cruise. Mine expires a few weeks after the cruise and I was told to renew. It may be a requirement in one or more of the South American countries.

I have no problem with most kinds of music in concert halls, dancing venues and the like. But when I go out for dinner, I walk out of any restaurant with loud music, no matter what kind. I go to a restaurant to eat and hopefully have a nice conversation with my partners. One of the reasons I didn't like Princess (to Alaska), was the obnoxiously loud "one man band" at night in the bar area. You couldn't carry a conversation without having to shout. Never had that problem with Celebrity.

I apologize in advance. I have tried to look for this answer, but my computer has not been cooperating.
When porting out of San Juan, what time is muster drill? We have a later flight than I would like and I just want to check before I book. It would be great to come in the day before, but finances don't allow.
Thanks!
Not only are you cutting it very short with a flight on the day of departure, you would be missing the most interesting port of your cruise, San Juan. There are several lower budget hotels in the area, with prices around $100. Check Trivago.

I would not have wanted to be on that ship for anything. It must have been a horrible experience for people with a week vacation, wasted in a scary ocean, instead of enjoying the Bahamas. At least they got a full refund and 50% towards a next cruise, unlike our experience with Royal with a week to Aruba and Curacao, which, due to (previously known) engine problems, never made it there. Our compensation was $150 and that was the last time I cruised with Royal.

When going South to Valparaiso or going around the Cape from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires, what side of the ship would be better for a cabin? Does the ship pass close enough to the coast to see anything?

We stayed at the Rosewood Georgia Hotel, on the corner of Howe & W. Georgia Streets, just a couple of blocks from the pier. The hotel is right in the center and you can walk to many restaurants and shopping venues. Enjoy Vancouver.

A passport, in and of itself, is not going to be required for domestic air travel. What is being required is identification that meets the requirements of the REAL ID Act. In most states, that will still be your drivers license. However, some states are opting not to comply with the REAL ID Act. Therefore, residents of those states will need to show a compliant form of identification in order to board a domestic flight. A US passport is compliant with the act, so it is one option for residents of those states.
Check out this link, finding your state of residence on the grid, to see how you might be affected: http://www.dhs.gov/real-id-and-you-rumor-control
The State Department clearly states that Real ID is NOT required until January 2018. Puerto Rico would be one of the States/Territories that is not in compliance so I can fly to any US destination, using my DL, until then. You can use the "Search this Thread" feature if you are logged in to your Cruise Critic account.
(1) - Click on the sticky link
M-Class Cabin Information Compilation - PLEASE - DO NOT POST CABIN QUESTIONS HERE!!!
(2) - To the right of the blue horizontal bar, click on the middle option, Search this Thread
(3) - It then displays an empty box.
Type in the cabin number you want, and click Go
For example, if I type in 6145 (the number of a popular sky suite) and click Go, it displays links to 8 entries for it.
It will display posts where that number is even mentioned, as well as posts where it is reviewed.
Not all cabins have been reviewed there, or even mentioned, so it may come back saying Sorry- no matches.
Hope you find this easy enough. ;)
Wow, I never figured that out, so I just gave up. Thanks.

The State Department put out a notice that drivers licences from all states can be used for domestic air travel until January 22, 2018. Here is the link: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/news/real-id-not-needed-for-domestic-flights-until-2018.html
Just booked first time Cunard, ton of questions!!
in Cunard Line

Thanks John,
Where exactly is the Cunard terminal? I am rethinking renting a car Saturday, to taking a car service Friday night, after our flight, which arrives at 20:10.
If I do that, I need a hotel, preferably close to the terminal. Any ideas?
