  1. My cousin does all of our bookings. She signs me up as cash, then when we go to check in, I change it to credit card. This time we did a B2B though, so for the second cruise, I had to go to guest services to have the second cruise changed to credit card. We had an on board credit so I didn't have to make a deposit immediately. I just had to change it to credit card before my OBC got used up.

  2. Just advise the wait staff of your allergy. The maitre' d's assistant will help you select your meals to include information like what stock base is used in soup.

  3. You don't need your DL to board. However, if you choose to keep your passport locked in your safe as most people do, take your drivers license with you and a photocopy of your passport. That way you can get back on the boat.

  4. I loved the liberty last fall. Yes, cruising during spring break will lead to lots of spring break antics I didn't have plans tobea dance cougar, but all there were to dance with was college boys. What a fun group they were too. Now I understand why that practice is so common in many cultures.

  5. Just got off the Sensation today, rounding out a back-to-back during spring break season. What a last. We didn't go to the club one night because we were just exhausted. Burning both ends of the candle caught up with us. My cousin and I are females in our 50s. We hung with the kids every night. It was like we were famous. Kids new our names. My cousin just likes the music, butt I had a good time dancing with the college boys and girls. There's a new breed that doesn't care if people think they are gay, so the guys don't sit on the sidelines. They get in there with their buddies and mix it up until they find a girl to dance with. I spent hours people watching and was charmed by the open and approach to courtship that was lacking in my era. I suspect male self control has increased exponentially over the years if what I saw is any indication.

  6. I'm not sure others' descriptions did justice to how bad the hair dryers are. The dryer itself stays attached to the wall and you hold the end of a hose that looks like a vacuum hose. It worked okay for my cousin because she has thin hair. Mine's not crazy thick or even long, but I had a problem with the hose getting too hot. It took forever and I ended up using a towel to hold the hose.

  7. I've heard the Sensation doesn't have them either. On a side note, the dryers are always awesome at Hyatt and Intercontinental hotels.

  8. We also always pay in payments online. I always use a prepaid credit card to just pay into my account. I can pay into whichever cruise I want. Then at the end, I pay the insurance. I'm scared of using my own credit card online so I have a prepaid credit. Ard from Walmart. You can load the card from your payroll then pay your carnival account. I use it for airfare, hotels, rental cars etc.

  9. Glad yore going to try the Caribbean. I'm in love with the laid back lifestyles and beautiful water. When my son was younger, we saw nearly all of the united states. We piled in a van and saw it all along with some of canada. I never thought I'd care for sailing. It was the only way I could spend much time with my now grown workaholic son. The first experience wasn't too great because we were on a broken ship. But my job is overwhelmingly stressful and I found the ability to relax and make the fewest decisions humanly possible a perfect fit. Like you mentioned, I love that I can see all kinds of beautiful places and meet people from lots of different places and ways of life without packing and unpacking. I also prefer that party atmosphere on carnival cruises. Everybody is out to have a great time and the larger cabins are a plus considering my claustrophobia. Some of the bizarre activities is entertaining from the perspective that I don't have to do anything about it. I get to sit and watch all the craziness and it's somebody else's problem. I hope this trip is awesome for you.

  10. I liked the beach there at the Governor's house there weren't many people and you could sit back in the shade if you wanted to. Don't sit on the governors chaise lounges though. Security will chase you off.

  11. I've taken a larger one like you are talking about on each of my cruises. I had to leave it behind as it had finally sprung a leak after being drug to work every day for 4 years. I used it to carry my wine and soda when we boarded. It was around 18" x 18".

  12. If people would just think about what they are about to do, it would cause a lot less stress for everyone. When you get to the belt, that's too late to think about what you are going to do. When you get to your seat on the plane, that's too late to figure out where you will put your bags. When you get out of your seat at the end of the flight, when you step out into the isle, it's too late to try to figure out where you left your carryon. Just consider how much time you spend inconveniencing other people. If each person on a flight wastes 30 seconds when they get to the counter, 30 seconds when they turn in their luggage, 30 seconds when they are pulling out their ticket and ID to have them checked, 30 seconds putting their shoes, bags, laptops etc on the conveyor, 30 seconds taking it off, 30 seconds getting your ticket ready to scan before getting on the plane, 30 seconds finding your seat and a place to put your carryons, 30 seconds standing out in the isle getting your stuff together to get off the plane. I know, you've only wasted a total of 4 minutes of your life, but if there are 20 people just like you on a flight, the poor sap at the back of the line has had 80 minutes of his life wasted by people who were just inconsiderate.

    Okay, end of rant. .

  13. The whole meaning of filet is to remove from the bone. Anyone selling fillet on the bone is trading on people's gullibility. It's a tenderloin on the bone.

  14. While some think it is sad, it is the new way of life in every industry.

I work for the State, and I now have to contribute to my retirement, my health insurance went up, I now have to do the work of 4 people, etc. etc.

It is not just Carnival, it is everywhere.

I'm a state worker as well. We figure out new and inventive ways to get blood out of a turnip. Since I am a chief turnip squeezer, I know exactly what is involved. When there's less money to spread around, there's less money to be had.

  16. If I had those 2 ports, I'd probably get back on for lunch at Key West. The boat parks right there at the end of Duvall. There are no budget friendly places to eat on Key West. I didn't find a decent piece of key lime pie and believe me, I tried most of them. It's no better on a stick. I'd walk down to the fort, maybe swing by a couple historic places. Come back to the ship for lunch then hit Duvall street. If you tire of that, hit the beach back down by the fort. (If there are no jelly fish) you'll probably leave port too early to see any of the raunchy shows or performers down at the port.

On Nassau, I probably wouldn't go back to the ship unless you have a long stay like we did. It's time consuming to walk back and forth through the customs/tourism area. It's a pretty long hike if you're not in pretty good shape. If it's really hot, that walk can be rough, especially if you're parked in the far berth.

  18. You can get off the bus whenever you want. I went to all the sites, then got off at the beach and stayed there for a while. I didn't sign up for an excursion on the boat, just signed up for one of the busses after we got off the boat. I didn't go to Jack's Shack, but plan to visit there when I go back this fall. I went ip the beach quite a ways where there weren't many people The water there is crystal clear with little fish that come up and play with your feet.

  19. No map. Just walk to the left when you come out of the cruise port area. Follow the street down until you see what looks like a homeless camp with a tall chain link fence around it. That's where you'll find the cheapest stuff. There's a grocery store down that way too that has shot glasses for $1.

  20. I just walked around nearby. Head left when you get off the boat. There are several places on the right side of the road. I didn't eat there. Quite a ways down on the left is a place that looks like a homeless camp enclosed with tall chain link fence. This is where the cheapest souvenirs are. There's also a grocery store in the shopping center down there on the left just off the street. I bought shot glasses for $1 each and bottled water for .59 each. Don't let the price tags that say $100 fool you, the exchange rate is 100-1.
