  1. I've booked two cabins on Adventure for next winter. I did this a few months ago on the BOGOHO sale. When I saw the new sale (friends and family sail free) I thought I'd check regarding a price reduction. One cabin has two adults and one child, the other two adults and two children. I called Royal and got a very nice rep. She looked at my reservation for three and said the price had actually gone up. Then she looked at the cabin for four and told me it went down $110.00 I was happy getting this. After getting a new invoice I saw that I also got a $100.00 OBC. So, it was worth the call.

Now for my question. If I order the soda package for children and a birthday cake for me, do I pay when I order, does it go into final payment, or is it reflected on my bill on the ship? Does anyone know?

  2. I've booked two oceanview cabins on Adventure for early 2015. One is for two adults and one child, the other for two adults and two children. What is the best way to configure the main beds. If two are together and the Pullmans come down, is it difficult to get out of bed to use the bathroom? If they are apart, is it like bunk beds, with a center opening between the main beds? Any advice is appreciated. Since we have never cruised with kids before, I have no idea what would be best.

  3. In February of 2015 my DH and I will be on Adventure traveling to St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Curacao and Aruba. This will be our first time to three of these islands. We have sailed the southern Caribbean route to both Barbados and Grenada. We've done the eastern and western route. Now for my questions:

Since our favorite ships have been the Serenade and the Jewel, are the Allure and Oasis too large for us. We will be moving from gold C & A after our next cruise and qualify for a balcony discount. How much of a discount do you get?

We both enjoy sea days and these ships seem to be less port intensive. Another question is what are the balcony cabins like. I read about Boardwalk balcony, Central Park balcony and Ocean View. Can someone explain these to me. Also, the prices for both these ships is very high compared to others in the fleet. Are they worth it?

If we are going to spend a lot of money on a cruise should we consider a Med cruise? We have never been to Spain, or Italy. I know I have a lot of questions but if there is a savvy cruiser out there willing to help me out, I would appreciate it.

  4. I've booked a family cruise and my grandsons will be coming. One of them is William III. His dad is Jr. Well after reviewing the reservation his name comes out as William Iii. I wanted to correct this to avoid any problems. If I go to the reservation website and want to modify, it says remove guest. If I remove him and then add him again with the correct spelling, will my price change. The cabin I booked has gone up over $200.00. Any suggestions as how to handle this.

  5. Traveling next Feb. and have booked an inexpensive hotel for pre-cruise because our flight won't land until 7:00pm. We would like to extend our stay for a few days after the cruise. We are looking for a hotel with a beach and a pool. There are 7 of us traveling in two rooms. The rates at the Embassy Suites seemed okay, but I don't know if they have a beach. If anyone has stayed there, your impressions please.

  6. Two years ago, on the Jewel, I commented to our waiter about how they fed all these people at the same time. He asked if I would like a galley tour. He told me when it was and where to meet up with the group. At that time I had only cruised with Royal on three sailings, so no diamond status or a suite guest. When I arrived to start the tour no one questioned me. I enjoyed it very much. Perhaps you could ask your waiter about it. If they have room they might just offer it to you.

  7. I booked a cruise for Feb 2015 in May getting the BOGOHO rates. When the WOW promotion came up in early June, I thought I might be able to score some OBC. But, guess what, the price on my cruise also went up. So, it was a wash, not worth trying to make a change. Then, just out of curiosity I looked up the cruise I took last year. I picked the same ship, same itinerary, and the same week. After getting the BOGOHO rate, the price of the cruise was less than $100.00 on what I paid last year. Also, I got OBC credit last year. So, in other words, I would be paying more than I did a year ago for the same cruise even though the second person is 1/2 off this year. Not really a sale for me.

That said, I will still be keeping my booking. I love Royal but wish they would just give you a price and keep it the same.

  8. I am booking a room in San Juan for the day our cruise ends. After reading some reviews, writers have said that the Caribe Hilton is very strict about check-in time, 4:00pm. I can understand if a room is not ready, but if it is, why not let the guest use it. I will be traveling with children and would like to be able to use the pool or beach. I know many Cruise Critic folks have stayed there, so please share your experience. Also, does anyone know how far the beach is from Embassy Suites, and do they have a similar check in protocol.

  9. I'm thinking of booking a cruise out of Barcelona for fall of 2015. Vision is the ship. Although I usually like a little larger ship, I love this itinerary. Please tell me about Vision. With the BOGO sale, onboard credit and a reduced deposit, now might be the time to book.

Does anyone know what the deposit would be with the reduced deposit promo going on now?

I am currently booked on Adventure for Feb. of 2015. After completing this cruise I will move from Gold to Platinum. If I book now, will RCCL honor a balcony discount and make adjustments to my bill.

Should I wait and do an onboard booking in Feb.

Lastly, is Sept. a good time of year for this cruise?

    Thanks for your input.

  10. I booked a few weeks ago for Feb. 2015 and the same thing happened to me. I requested early seating in the MDR and yesterday, when I checked my reservation, I was listed for 6:00 in the MDR. I have no idea why they didn't give it to me when I booked. As some have said, maybe they want you to prepay the gratuities. Go ahead and book. I don't think you will have a problem.

  11. To all who responded to my post I say a big Thank You! I will buy the soda package because it is reasonable and they are on vacation. I will get a cake for my mom because as my boys say "It's not a birthday without a cake." Thanks for your info on adventure ocean. It sounds like fun. I will also get passports for the kids because we have lots of time to do it. I am really looking forward to this vacation. My parents take one trip a year and I know they have been saving for this so that we can all go. The kids know nothing about this cruise. We will wait until Christmas to tell them. Thanks again for all your help.
