  1. Thank you to everyone who's replied! I was just reading that Glory has that new American table dining concept..and many do not like it. Has anyone tried it?

I replied earlier about my video, and just saw the question about the American Table. We enjoyed the food. I have a video of just the food if you are interested take a peek. We made the video simply because we were wondering ourselves what the food was like.

    Enjoy, it was good!

  3. Our time in San Juan is limited - 4 pm til 11 pm. Any suggestions for a nighttime activity? We have a family of 8, youngest age is 16.

It is an awkward time since the forts close so early. But you can still walk up to El Morrow in time for the sunset which is always really nice, or walk along the sidewalk at the bottom of the city walls. The shops and stores are open into the evening, and there are food trucks off to the left of the pier (left when your back is to the ship)

One new thing I found is to go listen to the coqui frogs, I don't know if it a seasonal song they sing or if its all the time, but go to the right off the pier. (when your back is to the ship) near the statue of the seahorse and sit on a bench and just listen. Such a pretty song, here is a link to my video,

  4. Questions for those who been to Little French Key

I saw pictures from Little French Key where horse back riding go into the water. Are there any concerns of horse poops floating around in the water there while you swimming in the water? Any comments ?

    Thank you in advance

When the horse in front of me went, it just mixed in with the water in moments. The ocean is full of waste from fish, birds, horses and people, I wouldn't worry.

  5. We have done the Stingray and Snorkel thing twice in Georgetown. Can anyone please recommend other excursions that don't include snorkeling and lying on a beach?

We are both 51 and in decent shape, so I am open to suggestions (not interested in Senior Frog or that type of activity either).

    Thanks in advance!

If you are interested in Horseback riding I highly recommend Cayman Horse Riding. Nikki is excellent and will pick you up and bring you back.

Here is a video of our trail ride from Jan 15

  6. Our cruise ship does not arrive in port until 3:30 p.m. and leaves at 11 p.m. What is there to do our tour during those hours? Any ideas?

We have spent a lot of time in OSJ and enjoy it a lot. It is not the best time for a port call, but one new thing I discovered was the Coqui frogs. Its not a huge attraction, but walk along the shore by the pier, heading east (I think, head to the city not the port entrance side) it was sort of dark, there were benches. Just sit and listen to their song.

Here is a link to my video of the song of the coqui frogs

  7. Has anyone done this in Grand Cayman? Could you tell me about the experience? Did you go really far out into the ocean? I've seen some youtube videos where the rider and horse are all the way up to their necks and pretty far out there! But then others where they didn't go far out at all.

Looks like there's a few companies to choose from, so I'd love a recommendation.

    Thanks!

We did this in Jan 2015 with Cayman Horse riding. Put those three words together to get to their web site. We are horse people at home, my daughter has an equine degree and trains horses. I can tell you the Nikki does an excellent job with her horses. I very highly recommend her. We swam for about 20 to 30 minutes, she will take you out and let you ride as to your ability. Here is a link to our ride, I apologize for the quality, we just had our cheap underwater cameras. The smile on her face says it all. It was an amazing day for us.

It was also very easy to book with Nikki and she picked us up and dropped us off. That was part of the fee.

  8. Do we need to print boarding passes and luggage tags for second leg of we are switching rooms?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

We didn't print them. When we were switched rooms, our first week cabin steward had us go up to our new room and find the new cabin steward and ask them to come and get our luggage. I thought that was kind of strange, they probably should have done that for us, but it was no big deal, we just went up, found her easily, told her which room our luggage was in, as soon as we got back on after the switchover our stuff was already in our room. Even then stuff I had planned to toss, like a bag of chips we got on an excursion. :D

  9. We are going on a cruise that docks in Philipsburg, St. Marteen. We would like to visit St. Martin (French side) and also Princess Julianna Int'l Airport/Maho Beach. There is a tour for $35(Amigo's Orient and Maho Beach Bum). Is that our best option? Or should we just take a taxi to both places or are there any other tours/excursions you know of that do the same?

We wanted to do Orient and Maho in the same day, it worked but I would do it differently the next time. We went to Maho in the morning, then about 2pm tried to find a taxi to take us to Orient. First, the big planes come in the afternoon, so next time, we would reverse it and do Orient in the morning and Maho in the afternoon. When we were ready to leave Maho, we could not find a taxi that was willing to take us to Orient. They said they don't like to be on that side of the island at that time of day, I guess there is more money to be made on the port side. We finally found one to share with a couple who just wanted to ride around this island and didn't mind stopping to drop us off at Orient. Nice of them and the taxi driver made more money so he was happy.

I would suggest either doing Maho second or if you can find a tour that includes both and what you want, do that. I believe we paid 30$ pp to take a taxi from Maho to Orient, I think the taxi to Maho was around 10$pp and then we had to pay to go from Orient back to the port, we were able to share a group taxi, but I think it still must have been around 15$pp.

  10. We are looking at booking this for our kids but we are also doing a 2.5 hr excursion. How do you pick the time you want. When I click on departure time it only shows 130. Surely they run it all day.

Is this the flowrider at Margaritaville? If so, you don't need to book it, just go there, I think you buy the wrist band and then can go as much as you want. We just watched a few people, looked like fun, no lines or crowds.

I should add its right off the dock, you don't need to travel to get to it.

  11. First day of spring and us in ND get dumped on with snow, so I thought I would share my husbands new video project link incase anyone else out there wants some warm thoughts while waiting for the next cruise. We did a 2 week b2b on the Glory in Jan 2015 and here is a Montage of the waiters shows.

    Enjoy :)

The first song is not as good as the rest of them so it gets better after that.

  12. We were on the Glory in Jan 2015. We used an extension cord and plugged it in across the room. One issue we had was that the side table is too small for a cpap to sit on. At least my husbands, and his is pretty small, he even left the humidifier part at home. We slid the coffee table over to the bedside and that worked well. Sure would be nice if they would add an outlet to the lamp, hotels do it all the time.

  13. A couple at our table's daughter did this on the Glory in Jan 2015. The daughter paid for it before they left, I am not positive if they picked the night they went beforehand, or if they did that on board.

This is the first time we have had all our excursions picked and paid for ahead of time and it really made things (for me at least) more relaxing.

    Happy Cruising!

  14. I will sailing on the Adventurer of the Seas in 2016 with a friend. We are thinking of staying in Old San Juan for 2 nights before we sail, perhaps at El Convento, which has good reviews. Is the area safe at night for two senior ladies. We love Old San Juan, but want to feel comfortable. We are active, not ancient. :):)

You will be fine and perfectly safe. There is one area of old san juan that is not safe, but you won't wander there by accident. It is the area below by the graveyard between the two forts. You can see it from the sidewalk that you walk on between the forts. Other than that, no problems!

Make sure to have some of the icecream/gelato stuff they sell in street carts. It's SO yummy!

  15. Cab drivers are pretty sneaky there, it's too bad your experience was so bad. What we noticed is that as we walked farther down the line of cabs the price got lower and lower. We have been there many times and use the bus. THe bus is also a great way to see the island. It's 75 cents a ride, you can get off and on when you want and if you are lucky you will meet some friendly locals who love to talk about their island and show you things. We even got invited on a picnic!

  16. Is this the steward work/storage area? If so will there be a lot of noise from this area? Anyone stay in this cabin or around it?

    Thanks in advance

We stayed in 7366 in Jan 2015

Yes this is the staffs area to keep cleaning supplies etc in. It is noisy, didn't bother me too much, but I could hear it, not enough to wake me up. Carts banging etc. Once in a while it sounded like something fell. The door to access this area is directly across from 7366 so you would be two doors down. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but be prepared to hear some noise.

The laundry area others are talking about is on the other side of the ship. The rooms are divided by odd and even number, the laundry is on the odd side. :)

  17. We are cruising and will be in port from 4:00 - 11:00 pm in October. The sun will be setting within an hour or so of our arrival. We would like to do some shopping and get some dinner. What are suggestions that are an easy walk from the port? Are the shops open in the evening?

The shops will still be open. I would recommend going to El Morrow to enjoy the sunset, then wandering around the city shopping and enjoying the city, then stopping at any of the cafes for supper. When you are done, before you get back on the ship walk past the ships (in the direction of San Juan) and stop to listen to the coqui frogs.

  18. We are sailing on the Carnival Glory in October to the Eastern Caribbean, our first time at HMC!:D I am wondering if anyone has the menus for this itinerary?:)

I don't have the menus, but we did make a photo montage of the food. We were on a two week, and I don't know which pics are from which week, but the food was pretty much the same with just a few changes.

The short ribs and crème brulee were amazing!

Here is a link to my Eastern week slide show. HMC was really fun! Along with the rest of it!
