  1. My husband uses Steven instead of his legal name Stephen.  His cruise was booked under Steven, but his passport and driver's license said Steven.  Once before 9/11 when we were cruising and checking in it caused a problem.  They did let it pass, however after looking at both.  We made sure we didn't make that mistake again.  I am sure after 9/11 it would of caused quite a problem.

Were you trying to say you do not have an iPhone/iPad or that you do not have the Navica App??

If you have an iPhone - you are all set.

You can download the Navica App (Free) to your iPhone. Both you and your Dear Husband (DH) will need to set up separate accounts in the Navica App (Usual user name & Password). to run the test you log into Navapp and the test proctor will come on-line. the videos above will give good guidance.

Since you have 5 tests for the two of you, and you are unsure, you may want to use one test as a practice run - before you do your "Run for Record" - and to build your confidence on how to do the test.

Hi:  I am sorry.  I am saying I don't have an ipad .  I do have an iphone.  Thanks so much for your reponse.

  3. I found out about the on-line testing here for the 2 day recommendations for the Covid .  Someone said there were videos on You Tube showing how to use them, step by step, but I can't find any.  Can someone post one please.  I bought 5 tests for 2 people to be sure incase we make a mistake.  I'm doing them on my iphone as with the Navica app it says iphone or Ipad, which I don't have.  My husband is not computer savy so I will have to assist him on his test.  If anyone has a video to post that would be very appreciated.

    Thank you!

Check HERE with HAL for the most accurate and up to date guidance on their requirements.

Most drug stores don't sell the proctored at home COVID test that is required.    Emed or Optum health sell the correct tests on line.  HERE

You can buy the same test at a drug store, but it will usually be marked OTC  as opposed to Rx.   if there isn't a big warning to NOT OPEN THE PACKAGE until instructed, it is not the proctored test.

If you are going to the CVS or Walgreens in person to get a test, you will want to sign up for the Rapid Antigen Test.   The PCR test is fine, but the results take 1-2 days.   Although I have read that if you take the test, but don't have results, HAL will test you at the pier.

    Make a CVS reservation HERE

Thank you.  I had read about Emed but couldn't remember the name.  I booked a test with CVS and today got an email that it was cancelled and to reschedule!!  Too much of a chance.  I am ordering the Emed test that you can do at home by zoom.  Much less stress.  Thanks for the link!

Not sure this has been shared but the fun continues regarding the covid test dance prior to sailing....We just got this for our December HAL cruise. (which we knew already)......Ignore if this is old news....

In accordance with CDC guidelines, our cruises departing from U.S. ports through February 28, 2022, are available for guests who have received their final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise. On voyages sailing through February 28, 2022, all guests will be required to produce a negative viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) result taken within 2 days of their embarkation.

Thank you.  I just book the antigen test for me and hubby 2 days before the ship sales.  We are using CVS.  Some people have back up tests planned I read on another thread.  I booked the test in the morning so that if something goes wrong there will be another one available that day,  We are not flying out until the day before so I am hoping all goes well.  It is a little nerve wracking, I will admit.

The supervised home tests are very easy. They are shipped overnight from emed and the zoom test takes about 30 minutes. There are many YouTube videos demonstrating how it works. Don't let other people's comments deter you from cruising. Our HAL cruise was fabulous and felt safer than staying home with all the wackos out there.

This sounds doable.  I plan on setting up two alternatives.  A CVS minute clinic test and then looking at how to do this but it seems cut and dry.  Thanks.  I had no idea this existed.

Both mine and my husband’s appointments were cancelled just over a day after they were confirmed.  The appointments were for Sunday so I spent some time researching alternatives.  We will be doing the Amazon Covid-19 Home Test Kit instead.  Fingers crossed that all goes well.

Wondering How that can be done in two days as how long does it take UPS to get it to the testing lab?  Thank you for your input.

  8. Hi:  My husband and I are very active in our mid 60s.  We haven't cruised in a few years.  We have cruised on the Oasis and Allure and even though we didn't use the flow rider, rock climbing, etc., we absolutely loved the ships.  So much going on.  I am now looking at the Edge and wondering if it has the same excitement as the Allure and Oasis.  How about the food?  Though we are not fussy eaters.  We like the entertainment, the casino and a good gym.  We also love the promenade.  We like the places to roam around and we loved the front of the ship with the additional buffet.  Every part of the ships really we loved.    I have heard the food is better on Celebrity.  The itinerary really doesn't matter too much to us as long as we are in the Caribbean.   Thanks for any input.  No cruise to us is a bad cruise but we would love a great one!

  9. Thanks for your reply. Sounds good actually. I would assume the passengers all would have plenty of time on their hands seeing they are on vacation. lol

Looking forward to hearing from others who have been on longer cruises especially on the Harmony or other Oasis class ships. Interested to know if there is entertainment every night,if people know and also if they find the ship less crowded because it is beyond the regular week.

Thanks again in advance for any helpful information.

  10. Hi: I have been looking at a 9 day cruise on the Harmony for next March and it really appeals to me. I love the Oasis ships and have been on the Allure and the Oasis. Don't use all the bells and whistles but love the casino, the gym, the shows and solarium and the food is fine.

I am thinking there would be less children on a 9 day and wondering if there would be less people in general. Not sure though. Wonder also if there would be additional entertainment on the extra two days and what that might be.

Thanks in advance for any input.

  11. The ice skating show they handed out tickets near Sorrentos the first day and you had to wait in line. So you might want to ask about that when you get here. There are no assigned seats for Grease or any other performance. You just wait in line. First two night there was plenty of room. Not sure how it will be for Grease so we are going early.

  12. Are you on a 5 night cruise? We're doing on in January with stops at Labadee & Falmouth. Always looking for info and tips! :)

Yes we are on the five night cruise and we stopped in Costa Maya today and tomorrow Cozumel. I enjoy the 5 day cruise. Going to stand in line for Grease tickets and hope we get good seats. Had a comedian last night and he was good. Ship is sold out and very crowded.

  13. And everything is great. I am pretty sure it is full. Service is excellent with staff going above and beyond. Getting in the ship was a breeze. Have a forward balcony on deck ten but absolutely no rocking. Can’t understand why people complain about the food, it’s great!! Ate at the Windjammer and MDR last night. Love the fresh salads with so many options. The desserts are great. Hubby loves the gym. The overhanging hot tubs are cool. Can’t wait to see Grease. Today is a sea day.

  14. We have been in the exterminating business for forty years, so I will give you my take. Bed bug bites are usually on the back and sometimes the upper arms but rarely on the legs and hardly ever on the lower legs. On the legs is usually some type of gnat or flea. Many people who get bit by bed bugs have no reaction whatsoever. We recently had a family of 7 infested with bed bugs and would never have known it if not for the mother getting bit. Bed bug bites carry no diseases but can be a psychological nightmare. You will be itching all over once you suspect there are bb even if there aren't any. We always check our beds when we travel by quickly pulling up the corners of the sheets and checking the creases of the mattresses for bloodstains or casings. These don't sound like bed bugs but we get more calls from people who "think" they have bed bugs then actually have them.

  15. Swimming with dolphins is inhumane and cruel no matter how happy you think these dolphins are. It's not a matter of opinion but a fact. Anyone who has seen the document Blackfish and The Cove can realize this. I have attached write up about the cruelty of dolphin captivity. After reading, I hope people will reconsider. Many people don't know, so I don't blame them but word is getting out. Thank you.

  16. I would definitely research the fine print. I've not experienced RCI but added the standard NCL insurance on our cruise last Christmas and ended up needing care in the ship's infirmary and emergency surgery in St Thomas. I had to pay for it all up front because the insurance was secondary. I never expected to need it but when I did, it turned out to be worthless. Thanks goodness for a very high limit credit card my husband happened to bring along... my own medical insurance covered most of the costs once filed back home.

Thank you ! Good to know. I’ll call RC to see what other type of coverage I need. Don’t want to be caught off guard.
