I’m sure you misunderstood. The likely answer is that they don’t have a contract with the airline that offers your specific direct flight.

“They do not have direct flights under their contract” is what was stated.

So maybe so. I have never seen any direct flights offered to/from a Washington D.C. arpt.

    • May 21, 2024

Kempinski Hotels appointed Barbara Muckermann as chief executive officer.

The announcement follows Muckermann’s previous decision to leave her role as President of Silversea Cruises, where she had spent 14 years.

“I could not be more thrilled to be joining Kempinski Hotels as CEO during such a pivotal time for the brand”, said Muckermann.

“I am delighted to play an integral role in this incredibly iconic brand’s next chapter while honoring its rich history, and very much look forward to working in tandem with amazing colleagues globally to continue to make the Kempinski name synonymous with individual luxury.”

“Barbara has always been at the forefront of luxury, and her proven ability to elevate the guest experience while simultaneously maximizing profitability for leading travel brands made her the ideal choice to lead Kempinski Hotels,” said René Nijhof, chairman of the Board of Directors Kempinski Hotels S.A. “Her dynamic, forward-thinking approach will be vital as we continue to usher in a new era of luxury for our brand. As Barbara takes the helm, she will be the first woman in the company’s 127 years of history to lead this iconic brand.”

    Dear Mr.

I’m honored to be named the new President of Silversea and grateful to succeed Barbara Muckermann, who helped establish Silversea as the world’s top ultra-luxury and expedition cruise line.

I have been with the Royal Caribbean Group for the past 20 years, covering several global roles and responsibilities. Most recently serving as senior vice president, International, I worked with my team to position Royal Caribbean International as the vacation brand of choice, across a wide range of travel preferences in more than 80 countries. I also served as president of China operations for Royal Caribbean International, where I had the pleasure of building the brand into China’s leading cruise line. Previously, I was chief operating officer for the Group’s former luxury cruise line, Azamara.

I have long admired the wonderful brand that the experienced Silversea team have built over 30 years and respect how they have been driven to create the most unique and memorable experiences in travel. The opportunity to lead and grow such a beloved brand is a great privilege, and I could not be more excited to work with the Silversea leadership team. The future of the brand has never been brighter as we continue the tradition of delivering best in class experiences with the arrival of Silver Ray later this year.

I am looking forward to meeting you onboard in due course.

    Best regards,

  5. Silversea has selected Duval-Leroy as its champagne of choice aboard its ships.

Duval-Leroy and Silversea share core values, which is commitment to exceptional quality, the company said in a statement.

“When selecting a champagne, the consideration of quality is paramount,” said Lawrence d’Almeida, Silversea’s wine ambassador. “For Silversea, this begins with choosing the right partner. And Duval-Leroy was, for us, a natural choice. It is a long-standing family business, always focused on achieving the highest quality. With Silversea, they share an uncompromising commitment to excellence, achieved through attention to detail and passion for its craft.”

Located in the heart of the Cote des Blancs, in Vertus, Champagne, Duval-Leroy produces a variety of champagnes that reflect the French tradition.

Guests will enjoy three Duval-Leroy champagnes aboard Silversea’s ships. The Duval-Leroy Brut Réserve will be the complimentary champagne of choice and will greet guests upon arrival in their suites. The Duval-Leroy Rosé Prestige Premier Cru will be offered to guests in upper suites upon embarkation, while the Duval-Leroy Femme de Champagne 2002 will also be available on the Connoisseur’s wine list at an additional charge.

  6. Is it true that Barbara has been replaced by an RCI ex?

Paolo is gone? Has Vicki left too?

Has the featured champagne been changed too? No more Pommery?

Is Spirit an odd man out in the Silversea fleet?  Comparing her specs and deck plans to the Muse – did they make a lot of mistakes on Spirit that were corrected in the future designs in that series?  Muse has a higher tonnage but fewer cabins.  Don't know if any of that affected your cruise, as the complaints seem to be about soft items (food quality and service issues) rather than the basic design.

I would have been very upset about the itinerary changes (even understanding the reasons), and expected that Silversea would have gone all-out to deliver excellence in every other area to make up for it.  Combining the poor new itinerary with so many deficiencies was adding insult to injury...

Spirit is our least favorite ship.

My most exciting excursion was today. We had a head on with another bus. Fortunately it was the worst affected.
The only injuries on our bus were 4-5 of us with grazed knees. Fortunately mine decided not to bleed despite my rivaroxiban.
