  1. I fly frequently domestically. Crackers and other dry snacks are no problem at security. Sandwiches probably won't be a problem. Liquids are the problem -- you can't bring bottled water, soft drinks, etc. Anything liquid has to be 3.4 fluid oz or less and placed in a clear, quart sized, zip top plastic bag. There are exceptions for baby formula and medicine. From the TSA website:

"Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. Officers may need to open these items to conduct additional screening."

The website also says containers of the following items larger than 3.4 oz will be a problem: salsa, syrup, salad dressing, creamy dip, peanut butter, jams, jellies, soup, gravy, oil and vinegar and... wait for it... cranberry sauce.

You can purchase water, soft drinks, etc. to carry on the plane once you have cleared security. And any food you purchase at the airport ***once you clear security*** is fine to take on the flight.

Check the TSA website for more information. Have a good flight!

You can carry on bottled drinks that you purchase after going through security from one of the gate side gift shops... they're a bit over-priced, but at least you'll have something beside what the FAs serve.

  2. @MalervyC - What an excellent review!!! We are already booked in an Aft Balcony, #9200, for the 9-13-14 sailing. We will be celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary while on board... I can only hope our trip will be as wonderful as yours.

We will be staying at the Hale Koa (@ Fort DeRussey) for 4 nights pre-cruise, then will fly back to Phoenix following disembarkation.

Your review gave me a number of things to consider while in the various ports... although, in lieu of your recommendation, I do plan to drive the road to Hana.;) Having never been to the islands, it is one of those must do items on the old bucket list. However, like you & your DH, my DW & I plan to rent a car in most ports as opposed to taking the organized excursions.

If you wouldn't mind, I do have a few questions that I'd like to ask off board... would you be opposed to contacting me by email? If not, send a message to: meetandgreet@earthlink.net

  3. PGMIL

may or may not work anymore

it used to be for military personal and give you up to 15% off your booking. but today maybe not soo much

as for the rest, i cant speak of

The code for Armed Forces discount is just "Military" however, it is only available on select sailings. NCL web site has a link to their .pdf which is updated almost weekly.

  4. Are there any "catches" to the NCL Soda Package where you get unlimited soft drinks for $6.25 per day? It seems like a good deal considering the cost of drinks on the ship.

Many thanks for any info on this.

The only "catch" to the program is that NCL serves Pepsi products... if you're a Coke fan, you'll be disappointed :(
