  1. I have been mia from cruise critic for the last 6 months because I sadly had no cruises planned. The next 2 years were shaping up to be cruiseless until I got an email this morning and discovered  14 night cruise on the Silhouette to Scandinavia and St Petersburg in June 2020 fits smack in our travel window, budget and ticks a box on the bucket list. I see Celebrity's website still sucks. Has anything changed significantly while I wasn't following along. Thinking of choosing the classic drink package and gratuities as our perks. The past couple cruises we have upgraded to the premium package. How much is the current upgrade cost? I need to start squirreling away money or do some math and see how much paying extra per drink (is that still allowed) will cost. My husband likes the upgraded wine. Does anyone have a link to the menus for a 14 night cruise leaving out of Southampton? How much is the internet package for a 14 night cruise? Thanks in advance.

  2. Have emailed and called Hoonah whale tours and no response to our request for a booking. (we emailed 5/24 and called 5/29 and left a voicemail - I think more than a week is sufficient time even for a small and busy company to respond)(n)

So, Glacier Winds won't take us. Hoonah won't respond to us. Anyone else who does whale watching tours in ISP??

We're the only ship in ISP our day, so....I'm perplexed. And I really don't want to do a larger boat tour from our ship.....

I just had contact with the yesterday. I emailed early east coast time and they responded early alaska time.

  3. Tracy’s is in Juneau. Frankly, if I’d ever had an allergic reaction to crab, I wouldn’t test out the fact that I’m no longer allergic to it in the middle of an expensive vacation. You and your family could be left in Ketchikan if you had a bad reaction.

That said, IMO the only worthwhile crab to eat in Alaska is fresh Dungeness. The king crab is all frozen and no different than you’d get at home.

I am testing out the crab this weekend. The allergy is only severe itchiness. It's usually treatable with a massive dose of benedryl. I have other allergies and so does my son so we'll have plenty of epipens. Dungeness is actually what I am interested in. It's what I was eating when I discovered I was allergic. The allergist actually wants me to do a 3 hour in office oral challenge but I would need to be off of my meds for 5 days and I can't make it past day 3 without meds.

  4. So I've been allergic to crab for the last 10 years. I decided to get my allergies retested on the off chance they had changed. Great news, I'm no longer allergic to crab. Testing it out this weekend. So were would be the best place to get crab in Ketchikan? We don't have anything planned there. I don't think we would be interested in a crab feast since I'm not sure how much my son likes crab.

  5. Thanks, Miched. I thought the Cafe Al Bacio coffees would be covered under our package. We just got off the Golden Princess and the buffet coffee was revolting! Eventually we figured out an order in the International Cafe that would get us a strong, yummy coffee.

Specialty coffees and the stuff from Al Bacio is covered by the package.

  6. Interested in seeing what different kinds of cocktails are advertised. The menus I could find are several years old. I will be on the Millie. Also our last cruise was on RCCL and something I liked was in the buffet they had carts set up to do mimosas in the morning and beer and wine in the afternoon. I've never seen this on our previous Summit cruises. Anyone know if maybe they may have something like this or will I have to run to the pool bar?

  7. The X website lists the different liquors included in each package. Wines vary from ship to ship so there usually isn't a list of them available. Sometimes the wines that are available on the ship aren't anything that you would be able to get on land. My husband loved one of the wines he had every night at dinner so he asked to take a picture of the bottle so he could find it at home. The sommelier said we most likely wouldn't be able to find it at home.

  8. With the recent sale i decided to buy the internet package. We will be in Alaska so our phones will work while in port but we have 2 sea days and my husband needs to be in contact with work. Plus he gets really anxious when his inbox gets out of control. Our last cruise was on RCCL Jewel OTS and the internet was solid enough for my son to stream videos. Will the Millie's service be solid enough to stream?

  9. There are numerous tours, First - have you looked at your shore excursion list? You need to narrow down your interests and have a reasonable list of choices. Your question is way to general and has endless "answers". :)

There is no "best", which is entirely subjective. Rave reviews about most tours.

Celebrity has horrible website. I am currently locked out of my cruise planner and every time I try and reset my password it takes me to search for a cruise. And there I can't actually search for a cruise or access the shore excursions available. In general I book with outside companies.

  10. Looking for something to do in Ketchikan. We will be there in late June on the Celebrity Millie. I already have whale watching in another stop booked. 2 middle aged adults and a 15 year old. No limitations. Not looking to spend a ton of money. Any advice would be welcome. TIA.

  11. We actually really like being in those cabins. We may have been on deck 8 though. At night they have musicians perform and it's nice to sit out on the balcony and listen. We've never had a problem with smoke because I don't think smoking is allowed at that bar. The extra large balcony is a huge plus. I think it's only configured that way on the Summit and Millie.

  12. Really. Internet is more interesting than being on a fabulous ship vacation. So sad.

To answer your question, internet varies from ship to ship, country to country, and cloud to cloud (the ones in the sky that make rain). It's an OTA signal, not cable or fiber reception. We both get a free day, or 90 minutes or total use for free. Depends if we are on Celebrity or RCI. The 180 total minutes works out better, for us, as it provides daily time to connect by text, voice, email, video or Facebook. While we are on vacation, we avoid the outside world so relaxation is maximized. [emoji57] sounds like you should go for a package, for your best value. Or unlimited if offered. But do try to enjoy a disconnected holiday while you can.

    Have a fantastic time cruising.

While I would love a disconnected vacation DH's career (which pays for the vacation) doesn't allow for that. Some people have 24/7 jobs.
