  1. Hi - I have checked my pictures and I do not have one of the sofa bed folded down as a bed unforttunately, but I can tell you it is the standard double bed size as we also had on the Nieuw Amsterdam. One tip is to make sure that you move the chair from under the desk (which is opposite the sofa in a Vista Suite on Koningsdam) and put it to the side of the sofa bed as it makes it much easier to walk past the end of the sofa bed at night. We had 6137 which was perfect for 3 of us and having the bed next to the balcony made it much easier to go out and have a glass of wine when our son was sleeping :-)

We would definitely choose a Vista over a Balcony for our next cruise if the price difference is not too big (great view to the sea as well as no lifeboats below :-) )

  2. Just got off the Koningsdam from a Vista suite on Sunday. Also viewed a verandah during the cruise so could see the difference. The Vista suite is longer with the bed next to the balcony which suited us as we were travelling with our 11 year old son who was sleeping in the sofa bed. It gave us access to the balcony when he was sleeping without disturbing him. One major difference was that below our balcony (and as far as I could see for all midship vista cabins) there were no lifeboats below our cabin so we had a clear view to the sea unlike the verandah cabins. We were definitely happy with our choice

  3. Just off the Koningsdam this morning and had a fantastic two weeks. I think the problem for many people is that the Koningsdam is different to the other dam ships and the old HAL cruisers don't like this. For us it was great with wonderful food and service and very few queues.

  4. We are on our second HAL cruise in 3 weeks time with our 11 year old son - we have also cruised with him on Carnival. We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam and the kids club was amazing and he loved being there. Next cruise is on Konningsdam and from what we have seen it looks as good if not better. You may want to avoid the older, smaller HAL ships (although our friends have sailed Rotterdam 3 times with children with no issues) but the "larger" ones are great [emoji4]

  5. Hi, I have added a page on my web site for cruisers berthing in LP 31 and LP 41.

These berths are also in Rostock but in the Overseas Port on the other side of the river.

You can either take the bus to the nearest rail station, Lutten Klein, the s-Bahn to Rostock main station and the RB train to Bad Doberan or a taxi direct to the main station and then the train to Bad Doberan.

For full details, time tables etc, see the LP31/LP41 and Bad Doberan pages on the web site. The ticket which you need is the same, 3 zone VVW day ticket.

    Happy cruising, :)

  7. Unless it's an international flight it would be fine in 99%+ of flights which connect. Out of way too many connecting flights to count one time did one of us have to exit the secure area during a connecting flight. One you're through TSA you wouldn't need to go through again no matter how many domestic connections.

Sorry I live in Holland so nearly all my flights and connections are international [emoji4]. I indeed do not know about Internal USA flights. I do know that if you transfer from an International flight to a domestic flight in Europe you will definitely have to go through a security check.

  8. Here is the webpage

Not sure if they are on strike all the time -it certainly worked perfectly for us. At the worst if they did go on strike when you are in Olympia it would only be a case of taking one of the numerous taxis back to Katakolon.

When we traveled we had trains back from Olympia at both 13.00 and 14.00 -just check with the guard on the train when you get to Olympia what the times are for that day.

  9. We were in Katakalon a couple of weeks ago on a HAL cruise and took the train which is only a short walk from the ship. The charge was 10 euros return for an adult and 5 for a child. First train left at 9.00 am with several options to return from Olympia.

I would highly recomend this option as the train is air conditioned and relatively new.
