  1. Where I’m from - No problem but I cringe every time someone asks what I do...99% of the time if I tell them ... they immediately say “Really?”  And then follow up with a bunch of what do you think about X questions

So if I can’t avoid the question; I have a standard answer that I use (that isn’t what I do)

  2. What ended up happening with the balance?

My cruise balance is due 10/8 and I just emailed the certificates 9/30... less than 10 days... do they usually post right at the 10 day mark, or sooner?

    Thanks!

We left a small balance that we paid by CC. We never over paid, figuring it was better to not lose out on the money.

It normally took about two weeks to get confirmation that the gift certificates posted. With the gift certs my husband got, we emailed them to sharedservices@rccl asking for them to be applied. Mailing wasn’t an option for us.

Unfortunately the program that got him the certificates is over .... can’t complain though, we did 2 cruises for less than $100 out of pocket.

  3. I don't believe that there is any cruise line that will allow you to have cruisers under 21 in a cabin by themselves. You appear to be a veteran cruiser, so you should have known this before booking.

Granted RCI should also not have accepted the booking, but a TA would have been a terrific asset with this kind of booking.

You are correct I am a veteran cruiser however As I stated

    - this situation is NOT MINE!

I was asking for a friend. (Not a “friend” meaning myself)

I personally wouldn’t travel with 1 child much less 9.

  4. hi everyone - Asking for a friend...She is much braver then I. If anyone has any suggestions.... I’d like to pass them on to her if I can. Thanks in advance!!

    This is the situation-

My daughter wanted to go on a cruise to the Bahamas with her friends for her 18th birthday in December.

I called to make the reservation for myself, her AND 8 of her friends.

I was told the only way it could be done (since all were not 21) was that it had to be 3 cabins right next to each other with myself in the middle adjoining.

I said that was fine. The woman preceded to take my reservation for all parties.

I called another 2x to pay balances on the cabins.

3 days later, I receive an email stating that I need to call them because there was an issue with my reservation.

Long story short...I was told that they would not be able to accommodate my party because there needs to be at least one adult 21 or over in each cabin.

Why am I hearing this now?

Why was I not told at the time I tried to make the reservation?

How could the reservation even have been made?

When I made the initial reservation walked me through exactly how it needed to be booked.

And why did 2 other agents not catch this?

As you can imagine, I was extremely upset when talking to a so called "supervisor". I asked to talk to her superior. She stated that there were 3 of them, but I couldn't talk to them now and I would get a call back in 24-48 hours...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????

Someone that is this upset, and you tell them you are going to get a call back?

AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK!!!!

AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED EVERYONE'S REFUNDS!!!!

  5. I’m on the Explorer now and we were the only ship to make it into Juneau yesterday. The captain waited out the winds to see if they would die down. We were about one to two hours late getting in.

We are in Skagway today and word is that they didn’t make it into Juneau again today. There is a Princess ship that docked after 11:45 here that was supposed to go to Juneau today.

  6. Literally asking for a friend...she is in South Central Florida and will sailing out of POM. She has asked me for parking ideas... is the POM parking the best choice or is there a better option?

Thank you for any help/ideas I can pass on to her.

  7. I downloaded this and used it when disembarking the Independence a week ago...some of the video that is shown onboard is misleading. The video states that all you have to do is scan the app, get a beep and off you go - not quite accurate. You still had to show your passport and since most people didn't know that (they didn't have them out), it actually took longer than the lines using the old paper form. All in all once people are used to it, I can definitely see an advantage and will use it again.

  8. I think I know what you're asking... We got 3 certificates, we redeemed the 3 different times with 3 different certificate numbers and 3 different PIN numbers. And had no problem with redeeming any of them -

I emailed the copy of the card with my Res Id and contact info to the shared services email...each certificate took 10 days to post.

    Hope that answers your question.

The fine print does say that they can't be used four onboard credit, but I just didn't know what they would do with a 330 overage payment. Seems like it would make sense to give me onboard credit but since I couldn't get a definite answer - I don't think I want to take a chance

  9. Hello all - has anyone had any experience with shared services gift certificates?

My husband gets them through a program at work and we have been redeeming them for our next cruise...We paid the deposit on a cc and the majority of balance has been paid by the certificates....we are down to owing 171.xx on the cruise - which is awesome. Of course, paying the balance myself isn't a issue but he could get another 500 ...

I called RCCL about redeeming another 500.00, they couldn't tell me what would happen to the balance - would its be credited to onboard credit or refunded or what. (Not that booking anther cruise for the fall hasn't crossed my mind :D)

Figured someone here may have had experience with these and might know.

    Thank you for your help.

  10.

The only cabins with hair dryers on the Ecstasy are (category GS & ES) cabins.

They can request one from their stateroom steward, but must do that soon due to the limited supply.

Hair dryers are typically in the desk drawer. But on the Carnival Ecstasy only category GS & ES have them.

    :)

I was worried about that! Ugh.

  11. We've never had an interior before but for this trip decided that since we've never really spent much time in the stateroom and there is so much to see and do on the Allure...we'd give it a try.

    Enter the dilemma....

I get an email offering an upgrade from the interior to an OceanView. I call and for $140 total I can switch from the interior I picked (in a location I wanted) to a Guarantee OV, which of course could be anywhere.

My first reaction is no, too much risk but am I being short sighted?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

  12. I would buy perfume on board . You don't know if they properly stored the perfume .

That would be ideal and I definitely would if i could ... however, I have never seen the perfume I'm looking for on a RCL ship so I was hoping for an alternative.
