Great info. How does one get to Governor's Beach?

We just walked out and then down the road to the left. About 15 minutes. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t walk it because it was quite humid and with no paved path. This time we are renting a golf cart. But you can also take a taxi and it will only be a couple minutes and a few bucks.

Is it really that bad? I’m doing catamaran Snorkel thru carnival. It has great reviews. Although I might be more excited for the rum punch and party, than the snorkeling. [emoji847]

If you’re a beginner and you don’t like to spend too long snorkeling , it might be OK for you. I’m not a great Snorkeler, but I like to relax in the water and enjoy the view and not be rushed. I also don’t like being kicked in the head with some one else’s fin I have always enjoyed it more going out on my own. But the rum is a nice enticement. I would say just take a snorkel and mask, no fins, do some snorkeling on your own, and then buy some drinks at Margaritaville or from one of the beach vendors

Don’t do a carnival snorkel excursion if you like to snorkel without many other people bumping into you and a rushed experience with no guaranteed sightings. Pure fluff, take your equipment and do it on your own at governors beach

The Sunshine uses S&S cards for laundry.

Whew. I got tired even reading about all of that, much less doing it. I go on a cruise to avoid work, and that sounds like a lot of work. I guess to each their own.

We have found that the maitred and MDR is open around 1:30 to check on tables...we always email our request about 2-3 wks before cruise....dont usually get reply but have always had private table for the 3 of us when we checked MDR

We've had a lot of luck by doing research up front and finding reputable vendors and making reservations well in advance online. It's worked out so far. Next month in Bonaire, we actually hired a snorkel guide to give us a private snorkel and city tour for 5 hours. I'm so tired of the crowded, rushed, and artificial snorkel experiences offered by the shore excursion vendors through the ship.

Does anyone know how to find out the times that the matre'd is available upon embarkation? Every time I've gone to see our table and potentially request a private one, either the MDR has been closed or no one is in there.

Yes, we've done it and also just went with the flow once we got to port. The best option for us now is doing the research on outside vendors and booking with them up front for less.

one caveat: in the MDR the drink waiters are generally slow to come around and then it does take a while to get your drink, so you might want to grab a drink from the nearest bar on your way in to get started.

can anyone use them or do you have to have a spa cabin?

We like to be in a balcony and with a cabin above and below us, toward the back midsection elevators. Next time I want to try an aft balcony.

they were available a few days ago, just for a couple days. I quickly purchased 2 $500 e-cards. There were unavailable for a few weeks before that, they tend to come around sporadically. Keep checking frequently.
