Does anyone know if there are any hotels/resorts with a beach close to the pier where we can get a day pass? Preferrably one with a swim-up bar :o
-
i hope so! I've only been on the older ships and would love to check out a brand new one! I hope one has a home port in NY!!

I toooootally agree about how the "sales" are not actually sales!! I thought I was the only one who wasnt falling for it!

Subbing! Love your writing style. I LOL'ed when you said Gasolina? As in the Daddy Yankee song?? lolol

I think the tooth fairy should upgrade everyone to a balcony room! Then they'd know the tooth fairy really loves them....
just kidding ;)

The Cheers package would be worth it for my boyfriend, but definitely not for me. I don't drink that much and would feel like I was wasting a lot of money. It stinks that both people in the cabin have to purchase :(

YESSSS I am so glad you're writing another review!! You're hysterical! I can't wait to hear about how much fruit your GF ate on this cruise...! :)

I noticed the pool on the web cam was closed Friday and Saturday. Did they give a reason why? I leave April 2nd. Hope everything is ok by then.
If this is the same pool you're talking about I think it's all fixed. This is the roll call for the Splendor that sailed today. Mamagina (about 3 posts down) posted a picture of the pool and said "pools open!"

I received the free cruise letter that was legit from Carnival about 2 weeks ago and today my mom received what we believe is the scam letter that is being sent around. It contains a check at the bottom, and says to claim the cruise within 48 hours. SOunds like what you got also. I can tell you this letter is definitely different from the Carnival Free Cruise letter. I am 99% sure the one you and my mother got is a scam, but we will call Carnival directly to double check. Wouldn't want to throw away a free cruise offer by mistake!!

Have a great time!!

I dont think its weird at all. It is up to her to accept your friend request anyway. Or you could send her a private message first, and just say you were thinking about how wonderful she made your experience on the ship and remember her saying she had a facebook, so you thought you'd send her a message to say hello and hopefully keep in touch. Then maybe she will add you as a friend after reading your message. I bet she would love to hear from you.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it. We don't mind waiting since we are on vacation. The wait even adds more excitement and anticipation :) We will get on the ship or off the ship at the ports eventually, so for US, it isn't something we need or want.

Id like to also add that this was such a great topic to start because now I'm finding so many more great reviews as well! Perfect for this rainy day here in NJ !

JAMMAN ALL THE WAYYYY! I just read his Splendor review since I will be on that ship in June and let me tell you... the man knows how to write a review! I feel like I've already been given a personal VIP tour of the ship! He documents everything so well. He even posted video of the ship to his YouTube channel! I am also subscribed to his solo cruise review that he is writing know. He paints a great picture for us all :) Feel better OP. BTW I always love to read cruise reviews (photo heavy ones) when I'm sick and in bed ;)

Think sun, and there will be sun!!

Thats funny because I am currently reading your Splendor review!!! You give such great detail and take awesome pictures!!

I am loving your review so far!! I am from NJ too and this winter is killing me! Luckily I have a cruise booked on the Splendor in June (I'm a teacher too), so something to look forward too. I cant wait to read the rest of your review :)

Is Govenor's Beach usually that quiet? Seems like you had it all to yourself. That must've been nice :) I would love to check it out on our trip there in June. How do you get there from Margaritaville?? Thanks in advance, and great review so far!

I have this same question... I called Carnival to ask about a different questions and figured I'd ask them about our card status since I had them on the phone. We are currently Red Card members (with 21 VIFP points) and will reach Gold Card status on the 4th day of our cruise in June. The Carnival rep told me that we would not receive Gold Cards until our cruise AFTER this one. I didn't question her as to why, but then came on here and saw a different answer from everyone. Could it be because this is our "free cruise"? I've heard of some people not getting points for them. We'd really like to go to the past guest party!

From Carnival's website:
· For ships sailing from Texas, due to state laws, CHEERS! cannot be purchased on embarkation day but will be available for purchase on the 2nd day of the cruise

So, I was reading this thread a week or so ago, and thought lucky them!!!! We're planning moms 65th birthday cruise, and have booked several cabins for August. I go on yesterday to look at some rooms, and to book her cabin, and while searching I go to the icon that mentions deals for VIFP members. So I put in her number, and there weren't any specials for the cruise in August, but as I'm looking over the dates and cruises, I see zeroes "$0.00" next to the price for other cruises. So I start making mock bookings and go all the way through to the payment screen, and everything remains at zero, with the exception of the taxes and fees. I thought either this is a fluke or CC members were right. I then call Carnival, and they say everything is on the up and up. I then call her to see when she wants to go. She tells me the closer to her birthday the better, then I look and see that the last cruise of NY for her birthday on July 4th is June 25th, so she tells me thats fine. I then go through playing with room selections to see what they difference is ($0.00 for IS, OCV $40, BL $80), so of course I choose a balcony room, and to make the deal even better, the Spa Balcony was at the $80 rate total for the cabin not including taxes and fees. Needless to say I booked it!!!! What makes it even better is that me and my sister were just talking about getting them a short cruise (3-5 day) before our August trip so that both of them would be Gold on that cruise. Talk about coincidence!!! Thanks again to the members of CC for providing great information and tips, and passing them along to the other members!!!!
Looks like your mom and I share a birthday and will be on the same sailing!! Just booked ours today :) Balcony room for $237 per person. We were a day late on getting the spa pass included. I saw them available yesterday but waited too long and when we booked today they were no longer available. But that doesn't bother me one bit because we are going on the cheapest cruise of our lives and we are going to have a great time!! Thank you Carnival!!

Just curious, you said the Spa has specials on the last sea day... would you mind telling me how much your Swedish massage was? And how long did it last for? Thanks so much, great review!

Are you talking about "corks" still or are we back discussing tampons?
