  1. Dan:

We were on the Spring Crossing which ended in Lisbon and I will second what "garysarah" state about knowing where the yacht will be.  We  disembarked at the Santa Apolonia terminal, which is small and NOT at the main cruise terminal and across from the Santa Apolonia train station.  Our driver was waiting for us at the main cruise terminal and would not come to get us at the Santa Apolonia terminal.  Luckily the train station was directly across the street from where we were so we went there and got a cab to the airport.

Regarding hotels, we've stayed at the Barrio Alto which is a very nice hotel but you will need an Uber or cab to the cruise terminal, as well as the Fontecruz Lisboa when it was a Marriot Autograph hotel , now known as the 138 Liberdade Hotel.  We also stayed at the Pousada de Lisboa on the Praca do Comercio (make sure you join the hotel's frequent traveler program as they have special offers which will lower room costs).  All of these hotels will allow you to walk, eat and see Lisbon as much or as little as you want before you board. You also have a selection of Marriott, Sheraton and Hilton hotels throughout the city as well as smaller B&B's, some which are quite nice.

Have a wonderful time.  Wish we were going to be with you as you enjoy Early Riser's coffee.  2024 for sure!

    Maybe………maybe not.

Oh but seriously, your conjecture has merit however Norway may have been exhausted and the Med would be a better revenue earner.

Well that’s what Hum’s tea leaves reveal.

Had not thought about 2 months of totally revised itineraries for SeaDream 1 in the Med. The logistics of cancelled/new/replacement voyages seems daunting especially due to the timeframe involved. We are so looking forward to being back on board and catching up.

  3. Interesting all SeaDream 1 voyages have been pulled off of the SeaDream website until September 4th.  Could SeaDream be doing another summer season of cruising in Norway?  The yacht is stilled moored in Alesund as it has been since last December. Inquiring minds want to know. 🤔

  4. Nation News Barbados is reporting in its online edition:

Seven passengers and a crew member who were aboard the SeaDream 1 now docked in Barbados are at the Harrison Point isolation centre in St Lucy with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, authorities are making arrangements for the others on the cruise liner whose COVID-19 tests were negative to return home.

  5. Your country is falling apart at the seams since you left. Potential BA strike this weekend (12/25-26) by cabin crews; potential rail strike (Southern Rail); post office strike and Virgin Atlantic pilots might go out. And now the Queen didn't leave for Sandringham because she has a "heavy" cold.

Ye gods, man. You must get back and use your talents to get things back in order. Sacrifice New Year's Eve in St. Barths. Use your great persuasive skills of communication and detente and bring the sides together.

But then again, miss NYE in St. Barths? What was I thinking - strikes will still be there when you return.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, dear Hum, and to all those who read and enjoy these pages.

  6. You gotta be kiddin' Hum !

This "WORLD Series.......just how many teams from round the world competed ?

    Err.........ONE !

So when Raggy asks about a "World Cruise" does he just mean sailing around the US ?

That IS the world, is it not? Just wait until we build those walls.

Seems to be a bit of Brexit shenanigans going on in the U.K., Hum. Judiciary getting involved; Parliament will have to vote; Scottish MPs to vote against Brexit and potentially block it. Snap election might be called? The whole vote called into question. Wonder if you'll have to go through it all again

  7. In less than a few minutes, Funchal will be just another memory of a voyage that has to aptly and wonderfully been described by Mr. Hum in delightful detail. Then, the best part of the voyage begins: 10 days at sea. Just now, three blasts of the ships horn provides notice of our departure; souls in deep restful sleep were rudely awakened. The ship is in motion, the guests at the rails, here we come St. Thomas.

  8. Thanks for the dosage. One never knows how much might cause more good than harm, so a bottle a day it is, Dr. Hum. Yes, Dad will be out this coming Tuesday to take care of the family. He'll be staying through Christmas this year and we'll enjoy immensely having him here.

Looking forward to our discussions. It's wonderful when we solve most of the world's problems, leaving only the small ones for others to solve (if they would only listen to us). We've taken care of world peace, global warming, lack of potable water and deforestation. What issues this time?

  9. So sorry to hear of your precarious health situation, dear Hum, but excited to read of your start on the road to recovery this morning. Pardon me, but should it now be Dr. Hum as your prescription for fighting the manly cold seems better than most real doctors would give. Such a lovely concoction of ingredients all working to foster rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. What is the correct dosage per day (should I ever need to be prescribed?)

With the latest revelations in our presidential race, we are more and more convinced to write in our German Shepherd's name. She's female, believes in a strong defense, a nightly 8-10 hour sleep with plenty of naps throughout the day, frequent exercise, partaking in medicinal doses of alcohol (she is close to 91 in human years) , listens very well and doesn't speak unless she is passionate on a subject (squirrels do provide excitement)

Looking forward to seeing you and Blondie. It will be a grand voyage with so many friends on board.

  10. How close? Might have to meet at an appropriate setting:D Lots of nice places just North of here. Love the coyote howls, especially when they howl back at the night time train horns.

Just a little south of Carefree off of Scottsdale Rd., Jim.

  11. Hey Jim, it's so funny you mention about howling 'cos on the November xings, Hum could have sworn he heard howling late at night.

You don't think it was one of those wily coyotes ?

Will be careful where Hum treads too ! Eeewww.

Now Hum, what happens on the crossings stays on the crossings. So looking forward to seeing you and Blondie again. Howl at the moon. :)

Jim, as we are moving close but a little bit north of you, we promise not to howl loudly.

  12. COCOYOTE dear chum, Hum came across this wonderful article about your namesake and kept it back in case you may be interested:

    http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/AeonMagazineEssays/~3/PMmGWsQuMgI/wildlife-management-is-really-a-misnomer-it-s-about-managing-people

Thank you for the article, Hum. I believe the below shows a picture of my namesake, though (hope this works :))

  13. Yes, Hum is now shopping at the Big and Tall girl's boutique in Las Vegas

and having her (um, his) outfits shipped by poor Jim. Didn't I hint at this

    in my previous post?

Can't wait for the crossing to see Hum turned out in her (damn it, his) new pant-suit for the Repeat Guests cocktail party. Rumor has it that a big LGBT

travel agency has secured the few remaining cabins in support of his "coming

out" declaration. The "choker chains" were a dead giveaway!

Am trying to imagine what a "first time" reader to this column must be thinking ... HA! But nearly a quarter million hits can't be wrong! :)

THIS is going to be a very interesting crossing. Tongues and quills are being sharpened to perfection. Shots across the bow for now but broadsides expected - the treasure of 15 days together. Can you imagine the stories to come (and the different points of view for the same story).

  14. Hum's recollections are somewhat different.

You, dear chum, are always "saddled" with a person who insists he is right on every question and he is always wrong AND you know he is wrong, yet being the kind gentleman you are, you always defer to him.

    Our team comprises of:

    - Blondie, who admittedly is good

    - Moi meme, who has good days and truly awful days (usually about 6 in every week)

    - Commander Courageous who invariably falls asleep but does have great knowledge on America and musicals (before 1973 !)

    - Abenaki, who always says "I know this one, I know this one, it's on the tip of my tongue" and that's where it invariably stays !

And there is always a team of American academics who know all the intelligent stuff but who are hopeless on popular culture: they really thought Lady Gaga was a character in Macbeth !

Lady V will of course be joining our team as she is the brightest in the bunch !

The champagne bottle prizes are "in the bag" !

Our new team leader ! Victory will be ours: especially if Colonel Clint joins too and provided it remains at 4.30pm and not earlier for Hum must have his siesta after imbibing a few glasses before, during and after lunch!

That seems fair, Hum - the rich get richer. I think Lady V and the Colonel might be up to the challenge to crown a new team of trivia champions, leading those in trivia darkness to the light of victory. Power to the people !! (Boy, isn't that a throwback to the '60's)

  15. Happy to report that we have been medical clearance to do the crossing!! As the neurosurgeon said "You gotta live your life!" So we look forward to seeing HH and Blondie again and meeting Commander Courageous and CoCoyote!

Also wanted to post an article from our AAA magazine -- editor sailed SD and loved it!! But appears it is too large :(

And Hayden and Michelle are an absolutely beautiful couple!! We met them on their very first SD cruise and they have continued to impress us.

    Vandrefalk

We look forward to meeting you also Vanderfalk. Hopefully you enjoy trivia as there are several amoung those traveling (not saying who but they live in the posh part of GB, the wilds of Canada and the Outback of Australia) who are great players with encyclopedic memories of all sorts of nonsense. Oh the losses we have incurred at their hands......
