  1. Group #3) Cranberry juice, pineapple juice, OJ, sweet & sour mix, pina Colada mix, strawberry daquari mix, banana daquari mix.

    NO Soft Drink Mixers.

I have a question about these mixes (Pina Colada Mix, Strawberry Daquari Mix, Banana Daquari Mix). What exactly are they (or what is in them)?

  2. We were on the Dream last October and they did not offer spa passes by the day. You had to buy them for the whole week. It's $149 for one person or $250 for a "couple" and a "couple" can be any two people.

What is included (or offered) with this spa pass?

  3. Behind the Fun is a great tour. We did it on Conquest two years ago and I'm thinking of booking it on Pride this summer (a) because youngest son is old enough for the tour now (age was 13 when we did the Conquest tour) and wants to do it (maybe we'll get the strawberries this time;)) and (b) I'd like to do the tour on a Spirit-class ship.

We did it when we went on the Dream - my youngest child at the time was 12, they never asked her age or anything (and she only looked about 10/11 then), and she got to steer the ship for a whole two minutes when we went up to the bridge. Both my kids loved the behind the scenes tour, as well as the three of us adults. I tend to count stairs and things while I'm walking, and we climbed a total of 250 stairs during our tour (that was going up them, not down).

Our last stop was the Steakhouse (where we learned about the cuts of beef), and we filled out survey's at the end and received our pull string bag, ball cap, bracelet, and were given our lanyards to keep (these are the lanyards we wear with our S&S cards now), we were also each given a swan carved out of soap (only one made it home in one piece). While we were filling out the survey's, we were given mimosa's (well not the kids).

  4. I love Freddy! I always want my picture with him!!

In fact, this past cruise, when I saw him, I ran up to him and hugged him, and said "I haven't see you since last February..I looked for you on the Ecstacy but couldn't find you.." LOL :o

See my Victory review for the photo of me with Freddy! I am all smiles!:D

Hey Brenda from Uniontown, Ohio ... I'm Brenda from Canton, Ohio. :)

  5. Umm, errr, Yes! I think Funship Freddy is creepy and hideous! JMHO though. I think they could do much better for a mascot!!

I'd design a much better mascot for them for half the price they undoubtedly paid someone to design him!

Hey, Carnival......how about having a design our new mascot contest with the grand prize being an all expenses paid cruise in a suite on the ship/itinerary of winners choice!!! :D PLEASE???

Agreed ... Funship Freddy really is creepy, I thought that from the moment I laid eyes upon him. My whole family thinks he is creepy.

And I like the idea of Carnival having a new mascot :D

  6. I think it depends on the ship - just ask one of the bartenders. I got the disco ball from the bar on deck 3 (on the Dream), the bartender told me that the fish might be available at another bar (she gave me the name of it, but I forget what it was), but I didn't want to go hunting it down and was satisfied with the disco ball. I never saw a single person walking around with any of the collector cups - so apparently they aren't offered, rather you have to ask for them.

  7. Information you gave for alcohol and mixers is correct (as I can remember). Personality doesn't really matter as the crowd doesn't vote, it's more on taste based on 3 judges. I don't know if name matters, Carnival will censor some selection for names in the name of "family friendly". One of the drinks when I was in the contest was "Blue Virgin" and Carnival didn't like that. My winning name/drink was "Funkee Monkee" (it wasn't frozen drink).

If one chooses to do a frozen drink - is there a frozen mix that Carnival allows you to use?

  8. I had planned on entering too and this is the information that I have: The day you embark on the ship, look at the FunTimes, it will list a place to meet and sign up for the contest. They only have a certain number of enteries so be early. It is somewhere around 4-5pm and they will give you a locatioin. If you do not sign up, you will not get to enter. This is also the time they will give you a few minutes to work with a bartender to get some advice and practice.

Here is a list of the liquor that you can choose from. The list is from Oct of last year.

You choose one from each catagory and cannot use any soda pop as a mixer.

    Group#1) Rum, Tequila or Vodka

Group #2) Melon liquor, peach schnapps, blackberry brandy, apricot brandy, rasberry liqueur, creme de banana, creme de cacao, creme de menthe, butterscotch schnapps, blue curacao, triple sec.

Group #3) Cranberry juice, pineapple juice, OJ, sweet & sour mix, pina Colada mix, strawberry daquari mix, banana daquari mix.

    NO Soft Drink Mixers.

**** Here are a few tips that were given by the judges: Give your drink a catchy-name,

***** Frozen drinks seem to be more popular

****** ...... and personality counts, get up there on stage and shake-it-baby, No monotone frumpiness. For a guy, wear a loud print shirt, make yourself stand out to the crowd. ----

Good luck and have a great time.

The items in group #1 - Rum, Tequila and Vodka ... let's say I choose Vodka, can it be a flavored vodka (like Whipped, pineapple or cherry), do they have that available as the choice?

  9. Totally interested in this thread !!!

In August 2010, Mexico passed a law requiring prescription for all antibiotics. I didnt know about this and when we cruised in Dec 2010, I had no problem buying them at the Pueta Maya Pier shopping plaza.

Then I found out about the new law and assumed it would progressively get more difficult to buy them.

I would like to get cipro and a Zpak when I am there in 2 weeks. To all who have RECENTLY (like say since Dec 2011) been able to buy them, where exactly did you get them ? In the pier shopping plaza or did you have to go into town ?

As for the whole self-medicating thing... I go both ways on this. I DISagree with self-diagnosing then guesstimating which meds to take for it because it would be too easy to get it wrong. If your friend had red spots and was given Cipro, this doesnt mean that you need the same thing when you have orange spots that kinda sorta look like hers. But if you know exactly what you have (reccurent ear infection, bladder infection) and the dosage that you get from your doctor, then I see no problem in buying this exact product and taking it as your doctor prescribed the last 10 times. Saves me from wasting hours in a clinic with a bunch of other sick people...

In Belize it was right there at the pier shopping plaza (there were bathrooms right around the corner under the same roof)

  10. We were going to get some in Belize while we were there in December (we were going to get a bunch of Z-Pack, when my husband gets a cold it goes directly to his chest and he requires Z-Pack to clear it up) however, we found that with our insurance we pay less here at home for a prescription of Z-Pack than we would've there (in Belize the cost was like $8 per pack and a prescription wasn't required). Now in a few months when our insurance coverage changes, we might decide to start buying some of our meds overseas.
