The OP is in isolation and does not have a key card to his room as he stated earlier in the thread! That is what isolation means not mixing with others if you have the infection , my DH and I just spent 12 days isolating at home as we had Covid.

That question about food was in regard to the sick person's husband not the sick person.

In my experience, the best way to tell if it's available is to look under the Onboard Reservations/Photo section of the Personalizer. If the package is available, that's where you'll find it for purchase. I've always found the packages available right away.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. We really enjoyed getting "all the photos" on our Panama Canal cruise. Thanks for your opinion/experience response.

    7. The Package is not available in the following trade itineraries:
    a. Voyages departing from and returning to China
    b. Voyages departing from and returning to Japan
    c. Voyages departing from and returning to Australia
    d. Voyages departing from and returning to New Zealand

So, I can see what this item says and how I'd interpret it but I'm curious what you all think.

DH and I are cruising in December, starting in Japan and ending in Singapore. In my opinion our cruise does not fall under 7b. It starts in Japan but does not return there. Should the photo package be available? That leads me to the question, when is the photo package available for purchase? Is this one of the items that is only available closer to the cruise? Or is it a case of Princess's T&C not being precise?

  4. Saw on another thread that their 15 day CP cruise did't offer a wine package.

Was this the case on your recent cruise? Hope it was just an oversight or I may me lugging a case from Total Wine.

Just off the CP on 1/5 (and still crying). While I didn't get it, one of our dining neighbors had a wine package. I didn't see it advertised, but then again, I wasn't looking for it.

  5. Yes!

I enjoy them as a Brit, but probably not something that most Americans would like.

I'm about as American as they get (but of Polish descent) so I loved having black pudding on our cruise out of Barcelona. (It's not quite the same as Polish kiszka, but it is a fair substitute. I live far from Polish enclaves in Detroit or Chicago so I have to get my black sausage fix when I can.)

  6. So, over Christmas and New Years this year we are doing a full transit of the Panama Canal on the Coral Princess. It's a 15 day cruise so we'll have three formal nights.

Looking for opinions on when they might be. Would Princess know the days this far out? Here's the itinerary:

Thursday, December 21, 2017 Fort Lauderdale Friday, December 22, 2017 At Sea Saturday, December 23, 2017 At Sea Sunday, December 24, 2017 Aruba Monday, December 25, 2017 Cartagena, Colombia Tuesday, December 26, 2017 Panama Canal - Full Transit Wednesday, December 27, 2017 At Sea Thursday, December 28, 2017 Puntarenas, Costa Rica Friday, December 29, 2017 San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua Saturday, December 30, 2017 At Sea Sunday, December 31, 2017 Huatulco, Mexico Monday, January 01, 2018 At Sea Tuesday, January 02, 2018 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Wednesday, January 03, 2018 At Sea Thursday, January 04, 2018 At Sea Friday, January 05, 2018 Los Angeles

  7. I was on the reverse of this trip (Ft. Lauderdale to LA) over the holidays on the Island. We had somewhat different ports, however -- no stop in Guatemala, and we had two stops in Mexico (Cabo and Huatulco) which you apparently did not. (Our itinerary was Aruba-Cartagena-Canal-Puntarenas-San Juan del Sur-then the two Mexico stops. 15 days total.)

Not meaning to derail this thread, but John, could you tell me when the formal nights were on your cruise? We're on a similar-time trip on the Coral Princess this year (12/21 - 1/5).

And thanks to Gwenin for her contemporaneous travelogue.

  8. Oh!! For a second I thought the individual photos were included!

Yes, I heard the same thing

As long as the purchaser is in the photo it's included.

Boo, I was excited for a moment for my next family vacation

How far out is your cruise? I called today and the rep wasn't able to find the package to apply it to my cruise. Granted, it is over 300 days 'til I cruise. He wasn't sure why he couldn't get it on to my cruise and of course the website people aren't there today.

  9. Epi-pens come in two-packs because severe reactions may take two doses to quell the anaphylactic reaction. If you (anyone) is susceptible to any allergen and are prescribed an Epi-pen, you really should carry both pens with you.

As a reminder, if you ever need to use your Epi-pen, you should follow up the episode immediately with a trip to the ER or UrgentCare or your doctor. Anaphylactic reactions and epinepherine usage should be checked out by a doctor. Just because the Epi-pen makes you feel better, doesn't mean you are better. If you have enough allergen in your system, once the epi wears off, you could react again (and now you don't have an epi-pen to use).

Just be prepared if you have to pay for these yourself (or are early in your annual deductible), these are very expensive in the U.S. We just bought two sets for our ambulances (I'm a volunteer EMT) and we spent $900 for two kits.

  10. 2010 RCI Voyager of the Seas, 7 night Western Caribbean. It was supposed to be an EMT Continuing Education cruise (the only way I could get DH to go on a cruise) but right at final payment, the organizers realized they didn't have enough participants for the educational portion. We went anyway and were seated at dinner with six others who had booked under the same circumstances. We had great meals and the cruise got me hooked. DH isn't quite as hooked, but he does indulge me every couple of years.

  11. I chose to accept the original post in the spirit intended. I didn't see it as belittling poor spellers (poor typists, dyslexics, whomever) at all. I just saw the post as cautionary that if you misspell key words, your posts may not show up in correctly spelled searches. It might just be me, but if I spend a long time writing a detailed review of my tour of the Roman Colosseum (Coliseum), I really want others to read it. In that case, I'd probably make an effort to spell the word in a manner that is easily searchable, i.e., not spell it collisium or however my brain/fingers want to spell it.

That said, some of my best buys on eBay (back in the day) were by searching for items using misspellings. At one time I collected "Organdie" china. I found many an auction listing languishing because the auction was selling "Organdy" china.

  12. My husband and I have only been on two cruises; both as a result of our hobbies and our dining experiences couldn't have been more different.

Our first cruise was to be an EMT Education cruise (dh and I are both volunteer EMTs and thought a cruise would be a fun way to get some continuing education). Right at final payment time it was determined there weren't enough participants to have the education. We chose to keep the cruise booked (as did at least six other folks). So our dinner table consisted of dh and I, an emergency medicine physician and his wife, two paramedics from Oklahoma (a guy and girl "just friends"), and a paramedic from Denver and her friend, a dispatcher. A mixed bag, but we had "the business" in common. We had a great time talking "shop" and other stuff and drinking way to excess.

So, our second cruise was a follow-on to a National Square Dance Convention. Not only were we cruising to Alaska, we were able to dance some on the ship, AND dance in Juneau on the Fourth of July! Anyway, our large table for late dining was made up of fellow square dancers. OMG. Can you say duds? There was nothing inherently wrong or bad with our dining partners, but none of them would converse. We tried, but couldn't get any conversation going. I'm not the best with small talk, but I usually can do okay. These other three couples were just duds. (I mean, we had square dancing in common so that should have been something to talk about... and we all were at the same convention which was really fun... and had all experienced being in Spokane during the craziness that was Hoopfest. (Maybe there wasn't any convo because we were the only ones to have any drinks at dinner [square dancers tend to not drink much].)

Anyway, we've signed up for MTD for our next cruise but are hoping that either we hit it off with some folks from our roll call or we'll ask for a bigger table for MTD or hope that we can chat cross-tables if we have two-tops for dinner.
