  1. I love how people are still telling her what she should have done when she specifically stated she knew that.

I would try both calling now and seeing if they will do anything, and then if that doesn't work try when you board. Like others have said you never know unless you try. Good Luck!

Thank you! Guess I could post to JH and make my demand there and then threaten to never sail Carnival again if not met? (kidding) I mean I see all the complaints about not getting MDR tables seating requests when those are not guaranteed, people complaining the Mtre'D isn't replying to emails quick enough etc. Upset because itinerary changed and their non-carnival excursion has to be changed and that costs them....etc...etc. I wanted to take a last minute deal cruise....I own that....

  2. It's amazing, that there is a sign at the coffee area saying to use a clean cup and do not use your own to fill your coffee, but people must say I don't have germs so that rule does not apply to me. Come on, it's a simple request to help with the health of fellow cruisers. Follow this simple instruction

The sign is at the drinks station in general. I don't see anyone saying they disregard the sign. She says that despite her lips not touching her own tumbler she still DOES use the Carnival cups to get and transfer ice.

On RCCL they have a sign on the water dispenser saying not to fill own bottles but the computerized Coke machines everyone fills their own mugs that they's touched etc?

  3. My feeling in all things is if I do ask, I might get, and if I don't ask, I definitely won't get. I'd ask now and see what happens. And if nothing, then try again on board if you want. But... imagine being the person who get these constant requests from folks who just didn't want to pay for the cabin they actually prefer. Just sayin'... Have a wonderful time either way!

I will have a wonderful time either way! And from what I read they do get far worse requests...don't make me throw around my GOLD status...HA! I just read someone got credit back because the location of their GTY balc didn't allow them to have lights on the balc at night. Um ok again I'd just like to not be as worn out, so I can enjoy more of the vacation but hey this is something I live with 24/7 I'm used to accommodating my needs and managing my condition.

  4. someone else posted on another post that they had requested another cabin and they got a different cabin. sounded like they just tossed them back in the pool of open cabins and they got a different. If they did this it could be better or it could be worse.

Thank you...if what is visible on their website is correct then not sure I'd be much further. I do realize they may try to upsell people this week to fill the balconies I currently see open.

  5. I have read where other people have complained about their GTY locations being noisy because of being over the lounge or under the deck area..and they were moved. So it's not like Carnival doesn't move GTY location for people.

Yes, I would like a to be closer to the elevator, no I would not like to pay $200 more for that when/if those cabins are empty anyway. As I said, I'll stay where I am at if the answer is no...but it won't hurt to ask.

  6. I wouldn't ban anything, the deprivation would just make cravings worse...but discuss a balance...perhaps healthy breakfast, lunch he can have a burger (or you two split a burger!) and then healthy dinner. I find that just walking the ship is a lot of added exercise to what my reg routine would be. Does he swim?

  7. Yes, I know I put myself at risk for even asking this....

I booked a guarantee balcony within a month of the sail date, I did look at which balc were currently open and was willing to take the risk. I really do not care which deck, what I'm over or under....what I would like is to be near an elevator doesn't even matter which set...and I know most people do not like to be near the elevators because of the possible noise. I did ask the PVP if she'd note that on the reservation, but YES I know no promises...I got it. It's a would be nice, would make cruise easier due to condition with my legs...but obviously not so important that I wanted to pick my cabin. I got it.

Of course I am assigned a cabin all the way fwd, just 3 away from the end. (which is at least closer when getting off/on from ports than if I were way way aft) Now it's a week before the sailing and I see at least 3 cabins on the same deck as I am open near the elevator, as in right beside them...not to mention ones near elevator on other decks.

If I were going to ask to be moved...50/50 chance right? Should I attempt before I sail, or the day of....I am thinking the day off if one was open I would have the best chance as there would be no one else booking?

Again I'll survive where I am...but if the other cabins are open and available I would like to move closer if possible.

  8. I just sent an email to the hotmail account listed and it was returned as not a valid address. I'll try sending one to the FB account.

Were you able to find out about Nexium? I have been without insurance for almost a year and been taking generic prilosec and it's so not the same. Just occurred to me I might find some affordable Nexium in Cozumel...and yes I have travelers insurance in case something happens on my trip...not having ins isn't a $ thing it's a paperwork NIGHTMARE.

  9. First time cruising with Carnival. If you purchase the soda card, do they give you a cup for refills? On RC, when you purchase the soda card, you are given a big insulated tumbler for refills. I understand on Carnival, you are given cans and just curious if we need to bring our own cups?

    Thank you!

No, it's not given as part of the BB package but they have some for purchase I bought one, I forget the price...it like the RCCL was too small for me...lol...I like a lot of ice. =D And I didn't find RCCL that insulated either.

  10. We are long-time Tervis users. However, we recently discovered a new product from the maker of the Bubba Mug at our local Walmart.

This is their answer to the Tervis tumbler. This one is 24oz. Its lid has a much better seal than Tervis. It is double-walled construction like Tervis. It comes with the lid and the straw for under $10! And it carries a lifetime warranty.

It is also available in other sizes.

Thanks for the tip! Their website indicates my local Kroger might carry them also.

  11. I plan on having my own soda in the room so most likely I'll fill up with ice and Diet Dew and carry my Tervis with me for breakfast or lunch or poolside. But if I wanted to buy a can of coke instead of going back to cabin will the bar just fill my Tervis with ice and coke for me? Also, if filling with ice from the beverage stations, use their cups to fill with ice then pour into Tervis? Same for if I want tea of lemonade?

  12. Thanks for the kind words! On our port stop in St Lucia, my husband surprised me with a helicopter ride to Martinique and the Jade island excursion for a valentines day present. He was trying to cancel an excursion that I had booked, when he was given attitude at the shore excursion desk. We always try to take one special trip a year, over or around valentines day and we like to splurge!

And to the other posters my husband and I are exceptionally kind people we treat everyone as a friend and an equal. I do tend to over share at times and Yes I babble. Our family doesn't smoke and we don't drink soda. However that is our family's choice I would never go on to a thread and start bashing people for there choices or how they spend their money! Nor would I judge you for it. It would be easy to sit on the ship all day and not do excursions or participate in extra cost activities as a way to save money. But that is not our families choice. We like to stay busy and we are always up for a new adventure. How many other people have dealt with selfish teenagers? My husband and I are fortunate enough to take several vacations a year and still help out our children and donate to our church and spend a little foolishly on our vacations. We are thankful everyday for our circumstances.

Would you consider adopting me? :D

  13. You should be GOLD for the that cruise. I have 19, and am taking a 6 day cruise so it won't be until the final day that is 25, but as soon as accessed my booking online it shows that I am Gold for the cruise. Not very many additional perks that I know of, but still cool.

  14. OMG that's the funniest thing I've read in a LONG time!!!!! The thought of that sight makes tears come to my eyes!!! I would have recorded it!!!! :D:D:D

Didn't have my phone with me since I was sitting on the edge of the pool. It was the last sea day, of course final party but it was the family pool so very not appropriate...and of course the guy was angry that he was told to stop...well perhaps the conga line could have continued without the hat.

  15. On our last cruise my husband ordered Alligator Fritters.....I was unsure about them so I did not order them, actually our group of 7 others did not order them as well. When he recieved his order, we all tried a piece and they were excellent, so we all ordered them. This is something I would have never tried but was so happy I did. We leave on 1/30/12 for a "quick" 5 day cruise and I am hoping that they offer the fritters again.... :)

They've been on both my 5 days cruise...they are delicious!

  16. Two years ago we booked a last minute cruise on Celebrity Eclipse, it turned out to be a foodie themed cruise. It had fun aspects, we like the crepe place a lot, we like taking the sushi making class (fee), and the french restaurant was delicious.

The MDR, the waiter brought me the completely wrong meal, never had that happen on any other cruise. Pasta verse Pork that I ordered. The italian restaurant was complete disappointment I really should have demanded money back, slow service, food was not tasty, about 3-4 different servers so had no idea who to flag down when needed refill. Qzine, food was good, but the iPad thing is overrated we showed her want we wanted on the screen and she WROTE it down on her order pad? The Ipads aren't connected to the kitchen for orders?

I also didn't like the adult pool was covered, no retractable roof either, so no sun tanning. And the main pool...I went out there the last sea day and was impressed by the staff monitoring people, like no drinks in pool and they ended the congo line led by a main wearing a knitted hat shaped like a penis. Yes...on celebrity, so please spare the comments about the "class" of people on Carnival. There are good and bad passengers on every ship.

IMO, food and service have always stood out as the best on Carnival.

  17. Not sure if you know, but they now have two trolley company's in Key West. Old Town which has been there for quite a few years and now there is City View.

City View stays in old town key west and online price is $19 a day for hop on - hop off. Has about the same stops as Old Town trolley in the historic part of Key West.

Old town takes you all the way around Key West (which takes about an hour) and the online price is $27.41

If you don't have a need to go to the newer part of town, City View is a better deal.

Thank you might have to check them out just so I have a good comparison.

  18. It's been 10 years, but check into doing the trolley on your own. We took the ships tour and they crammed us into the seats like sardines, even my grandfather who couldn't straighten his leg. It was miserably hot to be crammed in like that and it was hard to hear the tour guide with just the noise of that many people. Meanwhile , we were driving past trolleys doing the tour nearly with only a handful of people on the whole thing.

I used to live in Miami, I usually stay on board and enjoy the ship whenever KW is a stop because I've been so many times, so honestly I have no idea which pier our HAL ship was docked. I've done the trolley 2-3 times before, it's one of my favorite ways to get around and the drivers are so funny. So yes, I'll order my tickets on-line in advance as there is a reduced price....just been awhile now since I've been so I want to go check out some of my fav places, like the Coach Factory Store. :D
