  1. How can you find the first cards on the AARP website? I selected gift cards on the website and nothing for Carnival came up. I also did a search, which was unsuccessful.

    Thank you

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Search for Rewards for Good. You may also be able to click on the Menu icon. On mine its listed at the top.

  2. When our original PVP left Carnival we were assigned one that did not work the hours when we like to book our cruises. I just called the 800 number and asked for one that worked later hours. Our new PVP was assigned and has worked great for us ever since,

  3. Not an issue - Think about it this way if someone comes buy and snags your key then that means when you get to your room your key won't be there so you simply go to guest service and get a new one reissued and the old one is deactivated

Second thing people worry about is people might use your card - Okay so they go and try and use it your picture pops up - problem solved and if for some reason they manage to use it at one of the handful of swipe yourself locations like say the arcade - there are cameras all over the place

Is the Arcade open in port? Everything else is closed so the only thing someone can get before you noticed would be a few drinks.

  4. You shouldn't need any individual item that is Eskimo heavy during the cruise season but you will appreciate covering any exposed skin during windy days, early in the morning, or on the deck of a ship moving through glaciers. I didn't have gloves or a stocking cap last trip but I will on this one. I didn't freeze to death but there were a times were I couldn't be on the open decks very long.

We're from Kansas and I'll be taking a water repellent wind breaker, a fleece jacket, stocking cap, gloves, and scarf. I don't expect to use them very much each day but there will be times I will be glad I have time. I'm also packing a few disposable rain ponchos in case of soaking rains.

Wear layers and carry a small backpack or sling pack to shed everything into.

  5. Do all cruise lines have you separate your luggage for the land and the cruise part?

It's not necessarily a cruise / land separation but that's the most convent way to manage it.

We are doing the princess 3 night land tour after our cruise. During the cruise we will be given tags to put on an overnight bag that we will want delivered at the hotels in between, and different tags to put on our big bags that we won't need until the last hotel before flying home.

Separately we will take a small day bag on the train with us with us containing anything we need on the trip, or don't want to be in our checked bags. 17x14x4 that fits under the train seat.

  6. So, you feel Princess should provide free medical care for clumsy passengers?

An onshore facility generally provides assistance to people injured on their property even to the extent of paying for 3rd party treatment. So yes it would be normal for their personnel to provide minor first aide without charging for it.

  7. This could be a serious problem. Has this happened to anyone else or bumped into the rail with injury, speak up. If everyone remains silent Princess won't be aware of the problem.

My Sister in Law fell on the theater steps on the Ruby Princess about a year ago and cracked a rib. She didn't hit any rails because there wasn't any where she fell. There are rails for a while then a gap then more rails. The gaps are repeated down the steps. That is probably why the OPs mother fell into the end of the rails.

She is not old, does not have mobility problem, and hadn't been drinking (yet). She did go to the infirmary and there they crew filled out a long report on the accident. She wasn't looking for any kind of compensation "for my own clumsiness" but I was a bit miffed that they charged her for the medical treatment.

  8. Has anyone cruised during hurricane season? We've been to AI before during this time but never a cruise. We are cruising in September. How often is this a problem? I'm mostly worried about missing ports.

I have enjoyed the lower pricing of Sept-Dec many times and almost always have a great time. Over 15 years I have only been directly impacted by Hurricanes twice. Once was a little more rough water and the order of 2 ports changed. The other cancelled 3 of 4 ports and they shouldn't have tried to get it the one they did. Tendering back to the ship was really rough. However we changed from western Caribbean to eastern added an unexpected port and had a great time.

It only matters if you are only going to cruise once or twice and only want to see the ports you have booked.

  9. It is 1 mile from the tramway to the A.J. Dock. I have not used it myself but I have been told there is a shuttle from the dock to the Tramway area. Last I heard was $3 but free for NCL passengers.

  10. All I see under my online check-in is the basic guest info and onboard expenses. Maybe it is too early to pick a time. (My cruise isn't until Jan. 7, 2018).

You have to go further than your summary information. You select it when you edit your cruise documents. Which port are you sailing from? Not all are doing the staggered checkin.

  11. The nice thing about taking the beach towels provided in the room is that they are replaced with dry towels and you don't have wet, sandy towels hanging in the room. And they don't take up any room in your suitcase.

Some are afraid of taking them a losing them so they bring $1 store towels and just leave them in the room instead of bringing them home. It's not that hard to keep track of big blue towels so I don't worry about loosing them.

  12. Costa Maya has a nice resort like shopping area with a beach and pool right at the pier or you can take a short taxi ride to the nearby beach. Both are enjoyable.

Progresso is a significant bus ride to get anywhere. There are a few shops on the pier then it is a couple of miles of causeway to get from the pier to the shore. Not a good place for walking. However, it is a good jumping off place for trips to a number of great Mayan ruins including Chichen Itza. It's a long bus ride for a shot time there and it's hot but I am super glad that we did it.

  13. We spent 3 days at Universal after a cruise a year ago in May. We took a taxi from the port to the hotels at Universal Studios. It was around $175 for 4 of us plus tip. We were there and checked in before the park opened. Renting would have cost more plus we would have had to pay for parking. It was about another $60 to get a taxi from Universal to the airport.

  14. We did this cruise a couple of years ago closer to the end of September. It was still mostly warm but I wanted a light jacket on mornings where we went to the lighthouses in Maine and Halifax. It was also a bit cool on the balcony when the ship was moving.

We are on this cruise too. The prices have been going up since we booked and there are not many cabins left. You almost have to book a Spa cabin to get a balcony, or book a Guarantee and take your chances.

  15. The only way I saw to do the train both ways was to get right back on and ride it back. Don't do that because you miss a lot in the Klondike area. Do the train up with any of the the attached bus excursions. The bus ride back gives you a different perspective of the same pass and it's stops are worth seeing. We didn't do the gold panning because we had done that before and it's OK.

  16. If your ship has a Blue Iguana Cantina, take a large ziplock bag to your Cabana so you can bring back the leftover Tortilla Chips. Blue Iquana has a great salsa bar, but no chips.

We chose #10 also. Just far enough away to not hear the music inside, but still close enough to walk to everything.

  17. If your buy 3rd party insurance it cost less and you would buy one policy based on the the length and cost of your trip including flights/drives and hotels before and after your cruise.

If your travel insurance from work covers the cost of getting you home as well as medical coverage you may be able to reduce that coverage down in the 3rd party insurance so you wouldn't need to pay much. We pay about $80 per person for full coverage.

  19. We are sailing out of New York in September. Recently we sailed from New Orleans where they are enforcing arrival times. The time of arrival selection does not appear on our New York booking like it did on our New Orleans booking. So far business as usual for New York, but check every now and then, that could change.
