  1. We will be visiting Cozumel next spring along with 17,175 of our closest friends (4 other large ships there on the same day) :(

Does anyone know how this many people will impact the port? Is this considered a "normal" day in Cozumel, or unusually heavy?

We're considering just staying on the ship if the crowds will be so big as to ruin the day in port...

Thanks for any input you may have!

  2. Thanks so much, Cindy! I'll do that! It's still a year away, but I'd like to get an idea of our possibilities. (I'm following your review and am really looking forward to the rest...thanks for writing it!)

  3. We have an overnight in April and were wondering if MareIvy does a full day/evening tour that would include either dinner at a local restaurant or other evening activity...Any info would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

  4. We just booked Celebrity Equinox for next April and the rainforest tour sounds great! How much walking is involved, and how strenuous is it? My husband is a bit creaky, and I don't know if he could manage a long hike over rough terrain.

I checked out his website, but didn't see any prices. Can you give an idea of how much it is per person, or do you need a minimum number of people to book?

    Thanks so much!

  5. Will be there next week...can't wait! Have heard so many good things about this place...if half is true, we're in for a good day! How is the horseback riding? Is it worth it? Should we spend our time on the horses, or snorkeling off the boat?... or should we just enjoy the beach?

Thanks! First time in Roatan, so very grateful for any input.

  6. Ports were good except St Thomas 6 ships in port and we had to tender since they wanted the newer Princess ship at the dock. which made us have to get to port 3 hours earlier and leave 3 hours earlier. Really made for a bad schedule of tours and the guides juggling more people than usual trying to fit more people on a vehicle and wait to pick up more people.

I'm not sure if you were in St. Thomas the same day that I was, but with the exception of people who booked private tours having to change where they would meet, I thought the tendering actually worked out better for us! The tenders ran quickly and we never encountered a line-up, and they actually took us right downtown - no need for a taxi from Crown Bay to the downtown area like usual!

Can you tell me exactly where the tender dropped you off? We'll be in St Thomas in a couple of weeks and there will also be 6 ships in port the day we're there. We have a private excursion booked, and we're having someone pick us up. I'll need to let them know where we may be if we have the same experience.

    Thanks!

  7. That's good news. There are so many dining venue choices on this ship! I will ask as soon as we board about what night the crab shack is scheduled. Thanks. Two more days till we can leave this frozen city behind!

From one Philly person to another, have a great trip! :D We have to wait another month and a half, but will be enjoying the CB also...You sure knew when to get out of Dodge!

We're also looking forward to the Crab Shack and CG.

Enjoy your cruise, and tell the CB we'll be meeting her soon!

  8. I've looked at the deck plans, and it looks like there are two aft pools on CB...one on deck 14, the terrace pool, and another on deck 17, the splash pool.

Can anyone confirm this, and describe the differences/benefits/shortcomings of each of these?

Thanks! First time on CB, and really looking forward to it!

  9. I know I probably won't drink my money's worth on most days, but just the fact that I can get what I want, when I want it, and not have to worry about the ka-ching in my head each time I sign a slip is worth it to me...I'm on vacation, I don't need the extra worry about what my final bill is going to be.:(..

Am I wasting money, probably some, but am I less stressed...definitely!

Personal choice...and it's not just all about the alcohol, as far as I'm concerned!

    JMHO

  10. We've cruised many times and never felt the need to take more than some bactine foam, neosporin cream, bandaids and tylenol with us...but this time, we're visiting some new ports in the Caribbean and we've added bug spray to our pack...Along with that, I guess we should add benadryl or some other anti-itch cream...

Anything else you have brought with you that you're glad you did? We're not prone to seasickness, so we don't need that sort of thing...but what else would you not travel without?

    Thanks in advance!

  11. I know its pretty pathetic........

I would ignore those responses, some are obsessed with finding the inconsistencies in posters answers and live/thrive to prove posters wrong. Don't be bullied. :) There are members that enjoy helping any way they can. ;)

A voice of reason (among a few others) ;)

  12. Excellent point. Perhaps the waiter, whilst retrieving said wine, could slip a salmon filet into his pocket. Two problems solved.

I have to thank the OP. I haven't laughed out loud at a thread in ages. Enjoy your Crown Grill meal, whatever and however you get your entree.

Thanks...who could have imagined that such an innocent question would trigger such responses...I never realized how demanding, unsympathetic and self-centered I was! Do you think they'd let me pick up my salmon filet "to go" in the MDR and bring it with us to the restaurant?

All we wanted to do was share a special dinner with a couple friends...sheesh!

  13. Wow, did this thread just jump all over the place. The OP never indicated they would not be willing to pay, just asked if they could get a different fish choice (no shellfish) and the answer is... yes, you can. A little advance notice would be lovely, say when you make the reservation, but they will accommodate you with a smile.

Thank you, TinaLee, for realizing that I wasn't looking for a free meal in the Crown Grill...I fully expect to pay the price, no matter what we eat...

I don't think the OP will be accommodated... If she doesn't like the menu at the Crown Grill, why go? Especially since there are so many other options... that I really don't understand...

The reason we want to go to the Crown Grill is that we will be cruising with friends who have cruised Princess many times, but have never eaten there, and we thought it would be a nice chance for all of us to try something new together...

I wouldn't dream of asking anyone to make anything out of the ordinary for us, or to expect it to be at no charge, and a piece of salmon from the MDR would be just fine...and I don't really see how this would be putting an undue burden on anyone...but apparently some people get their nose out of joint very easily on these boards!

  14. Apologies if this has been asked/answered before.

I've looked at the menu for the Crown Grill for the seafood...does anyone know if you can order off-menu? The only actual fish that seems to be offered is Seabass...does anyone know if you you can order a different kind of fish, like salmon? We're not a fan of seabass, and would prefer fish to shellfish or mollusks (prawns or mussels)...

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to our first Crown Grill meal!

  15. And all this time I though the lest side was rockier. :D Either way it's the Rockiest beach we've ever been to.

Grand Turk was by far the rockiest beach we've ever been to...never could have gone into the water without water shoes...never used them at Princess Cay, but wouldn't tell anyone not to take them, just in case...we love Princess Cay!

  16. Thank you for this! I was planning to buy the all inclusive package, but didn't realize how reasonable the wine by the bottle was with the 40% discount, as compared with bringing extra bottles on board and paying corkage! We'll definitely just bring our allotted bottles, and buy the rest at the discounted price! If there's any left over we'll just take it back to the stateroom to enjoy on the balcony the next day!;)

  17. We're considering booking Rumbaba for our day in St. Thomas and are concerned about the amount of shade available on the boat...Can anyone who has done this day sail tell us if there is shade, and if so, how much, on the boat, both while underway and while moored?

    Thanks!

  18. I know it sounds expensive, but if you take into consideration that it's not just alcohol, but specialty coffees, bottled water, mixed drinks, wine, beer, mocktails, etc...it's not hard to meet (and exceed) that cost...a Perrier by the pool, maybe a froo-froo drink in the afternoon, one or two bottles of water for the stateroom or to take on an excursion, a glass of wine on the balcony while waiting to go to dinner, a glass of wine or cocktail in a lounge pre-dinner, one or two glasses of wine with dinner, a cappucino or latte in the morning or after dinner, a drink at a show, it can add up fast, and not all of it is alcohol!

After much deliberation (and calculation), I've decided to do it...even if I use less than what I pay, just not having to dread the invoice slipped under the door at the end of the cruise is worth it! :D
