  1. As are all other "serial cruisers", we are watching this cruise closely. We normally take 2-3 cruises each year and the rest of our cruises for 2020 were, obviously, cancelled. We opted for refunds. We only have 1 cruise scheduled for 2021 (November) so we're hoping things look much different for cruises by then, but we have decided to back off cruises indefinitely. While we respect and understand the need for strict protocols, this kind of vacation just isn't appealing to us at all especially with the excursions (we have never liked group excursions but that is just our personal preference). Because we always take overseas cruises and prefer suites to staterooms, our cruises are costly. We've decided to buy an RV and do some traveling in the states until cruising returns to an atmosphere we would personally enjoy. We do hope this cruise is a success!

  2. Nothing about the itinerary suggests multiple stops for the boarding of new passengers/disembarkation of passengers for this cruise, and this would not meet the current standards under which cruise ships can sail. While this cruise is visiting ports, excursions are tightly controlled (it's basically on/off fairly quickly). There are no excursions allowing passengers to get off the ship and roam freely, nor any excursions taking passengers into the closest city to drop off and freely move about. The countries allowing ports of call have specifically mandated no passengers are allowed to roam free. As such, having passengers board the cruise at a port of call would definitely not be allowed, even if MSC has done this in the past. Remember, cruising now looks entirely different. I have hopes for this cruise but am not going to be at all surprised if someone tests positive at some point and is quarantined. Remember, people can be asymptomatic for weeks with this virus.

    Norwegian Cruise Line Refund Refusal

I purchased $2,000 of credit for future cruises which expires in a year. I usually cruise extensively and would have used all the coupons during normal times.

I contacted them for a refund, as I am a senior and will not be cruising any time soon, if ever.

They said in a round about way, "too bad". They were not very nice, and dismissive.

At 73 years old, I cannot afford to lose $2,000, especially with the fear of cruising ever again.

I have heard there will be cruise companies who will go out of business. The possibility of NCL going out of business was mentioned.

I have been a very good customer of NCL over many many years.

Has anyone else had this happen? What can I do to get my money back? Is there anyone who can help?

Again, NCL refuses to do anything, including refunding my money.

We, too, purchased $$ credits for future cruises on NCL. At the same time, we also purchased 10 deposits for future cruises. It was a lot of money but being dedicated to NCL for many years we knew we would use these benefits. We have 4 deposits and $1,000 credit $$ remaining which expire this year. We were booking a TA on Epic for Nov 2021 and wanted to use the remaining benefits. Bottom line: both of these benefits (that we paid for) are now worthless. Our NCL cruise consultant told us she would have to submit an approval for us to use the credit $$ and the remaining deposits for the cruise; we would have to go ahead and pay the deposits for both suites we wanted ($3,000) and *IF* corporate approved using the deposits we had remaining it would be applied as an onboard credit for the cruise --- $200.00 for each suite, which means NCL changed these deposits to be worth only $100.00 each!

I submitted an online complaint through the NCL website to open a case about this, and submitted copies of the paperwork we received when we purchased these benefits. Absolutely no wording whatsoever on restrictions or limitations or acts of God. All we had to do, according to what we had received at the time, was to book a cruise before the expiration dates.

This smacks of NCL doing a major cash grab right now. We did not book the cruise and we are resigned to the fact we will lose the remaining benefits we had purchased. I personally do not think NCL is going to survive despite their securing add'l operating funds. There is no way I would give NCL a dime right now and I would urge others to not hand over any money (including credit card charges) unless it's money you can afford to lose or don't need returned soon.

I would suggest you submit an online complaint to open a case and request a refund. If NCL sails into bankruptcy (pun intended) at the very least you have a case number to file with the BK court. I highly doubt you will receive a cash refund from NCL.
