  1. I called Celebrity this morning about this. If you are using a Canadian Credit Card to pay for the OBC, they will charge $25.00 U.S. and the bank then in turn will charge the going rate, which is closer to 1.36 They do not charge your credit card $30.60 Canadian. If you hear anything different let me know. But this is what they told me.

This is not true. I just purchased the onboard credit last week through Celebrity's website - the Canadian website which showed the price as being $30.60 per unit ($25 US). I purchased 4 units for a total of $122.40 Canadian. My receipt and everything is showing that I am being charged that amount and in Canadian funds.

I suspect that if you logged on to the US website and purchased the onboard credit in US funds, then what you said above would apply.

  2. What you see online is you are purchasing units of $25 US OBC. The CAD price you see when you put the OBC into your cart is the price that will be charged on your card in CAD and for each 1 unit you buy you will get $25 US of OBC. It is what it is now and doesn't change later with changes in the dollar (i.e. you are locked in with what you pay now). So, according to their site right now, you will pay $30.60 CAD to get $25 USD OBC, or $122.40 CAD for $100 USD OBC, which still isn't bad considering the current exchange rates and the fees the banks charge here. We did this for our last cruise and it worked great, no issues.

Thank you!! We are going to do this :)

  3. Was on Ref Nov 8th in AQ.

...checked out of Holiday Inn Bayside at 11 am as requested.,,..took a cab over the bridge to the port....porter took the bags right away, paperwork checked at door..and we went right to check in...from what we could see no one was sent away.,.,,..rooms however were ready much later than on past cruises.

I understand the attempt to stagger arrivals, but if an earlier time is better I think you will be fine,

Had a great lunch at AQ spa cafe...not crowded...made to order grilled salmon and chicken

You mentioned rooms were ready later than usual... Around what time would you say?

  4. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm trying to get on Celebrity's website, and now the first screen is making me select my country (this is new, as of last night did not see this before). I can not get past this page! No matter what country I select!

  5. Hello St Thomas experts! My bf and I are going on a cruise in a few weeks with a stop in St Thomas. We are thinking of going to Coki beach for some snorkeling and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to do with our stuff? We are planning to rent beach chairs, but while we are out in the water, I don't feel comfortable leaving all of our stuff unattended. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  6. Just FYI for anyone purchasing a beverage package via the Pre-Cruise Planner - when I clicked to add it, it then said it was unable to add it to my cart and if the problem persisted to contact Celebrity. HOWEVER when I clicked on the shopping cart icon on the top right of the page, it was there! Gotta love their website

  7. I have an upcoming sailing (end of Nov) that was booked through a travel agent. I was able to add the reservation to My Celebrity, however I am not able to add a beverage package. When I sign in to manage my reservation the option is not even there. The tabs at the top of the page are: My Cruise Summary, Pre-Cruise Planner, Sea & Stay Packages, and Transport. At the bottom of the page, under "Recommendations for you' there is a section for beverage packages, however, when I click on it it just brings me to sign in to manage my reservation (which I had already done). Am I missing something?? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

  8. It's interesting that they provide seat belt extensions for those requiring the extra length, but nothing is done for the life jackets. Mind you, the airlines don't seem to provide child sizes for the life jackets either, something that they will do on cruise ships.

Actually, airline lifevests come in 2 different sizes - infant and adult/child. Cabin crew are trained on how to don the adult/child lifevest on children, and the instructions are also printed on the lifevest itself as well as in the safety features card. The lifevests have (quite long) adjustable straps that fit around the waist.
